Students here in the Philippines usually sing during their break time, taking advantage of the natural reverb or echo of a classroom. Most of the time, they are encouraged by the teachers.
This is common in Filipino schools and it doesnt need to be a music class or anything...most of the time the teachers themselves are on a lookout for talented students in class...I'm a grade 11 student and I can tell you personally, we do everything in school...dance, sing. It doesnt matter if we dont sing well or dance well, what's important is we do it. everybody is supportive from school officials to the parents and fellow students. We all get embarrassed altogether so it's all good fun and makes our school life memorable.
Yeah, regular schools. Now that you said it, we actually thought that this kind of things is normal in other countries too. It is actually completely normal in school. I mean, no one can challenge those in the top section when it comes to academics but when it comes to talent, every section has a lot to offer. Jamming while no teacher is our bonding as classmates.
It amazes me that this is a normal day in the Philippines and the participation and comming together its a great confidence boost and of course the singing is a given no wonder they are always one step ahead as its a national past time in the Philippines love it nice one Ryan and Cindy 👏👌
The ones singing in front of a large crowd of students might be after a flag raising ceremony (they were performing in front of a flag pole). During my time in school, the flag is raised on a Monday morning. It starts with us singing the national anthem, then saying a pledge, prayer, doing an exercise, the assigned lead class would give a special number (song, dance, poetry), then we close it with singing the school's anthem.
Students here in the Phil. sometimes sings inside their classrooms during breaks, sometimes teachers allow them to sing and showcase their talents to serve as ice breaker. But there are public high school here in the Phil. that offer a special program studies for art, like in my kid's school, these section was composed of students specialized in different field of arts like, vocals, dancing, playing instruments, visual arts and media arts. Actually, i enrolled my two kids there, my daughter know how to play clarinet while my son choose to improve his vocals. And all these students under the program will showcase the knowledge they learned during Recital and Exhibits.
Actually this is a normal school, and Music is in filipino blood. Whatever strand or aspects all of filipino can sing. That's why who the unique voice in ph is more getting popular. Even on our competitions if you want to win you dont need to be the sound of thr artist, you need to be the unique or make your own version of the song. We Filipino are fighting for our own version of the song not to belt only because it's very natural on our blood that 😅
This is common in regular schools. It doesn't matter what subject-- it doesn't matter even if its not music class , just regular when taking a break.., as soon as everybody feels like it, during breaks.. somebody's just gonna stand up and sing..... LOL
In our music subject aside from written exam we have oral exam which is singing😂and also our teacher teach us differentkinds of sounds like jazz rock ballad and more😂..thank you much love philippines❤❤❤❤
Those 2 boy student who sung twice are classmates and best friend. The taller one is now in the army, while the other one is n the college or probably just finished college.
In our days if our subject teacher is absent we usually have like a short program on our class that you can perform. Usually singing! Thats what i do since elementary to college i sing a lot infront of my classmates. And thats not our music class. Thats what we just do here in the Philippines. And about the buskers here in the Philippines? Buskers are rare coz filipinos are shy type in general even though most of the filipinos sings amazing were still shy to sing in public. 🤭🥰❤🇵🇭
The singing wherein there is passing of microphone is in a house-resort, of which there lots of it in the Philippines. House-resorts are medium resort where there is a videoke (karaoke), swimming pool for adults and for kids, a billiard table, darts and a table tennis table; in bigger ones, there can be a tennis court. House-resorts consist of a huge high quality house with a few rooms and an extension, which can accommodate up to 50 or 60 people, where are lots of bathrooms and shower rooms. In the Laguna province, house-resorts have hot water continuously flowing from hot springs.
I usually sing when I took my shower. Now, my 3 kids sings in the shower too. It kindah makes me smile for I know they can sing but just like me when I was a kid... Too shy to show off until you hand me a microphone 🎤. 😊
Arnel Pineda may be the biggest Filipino singer success story, worldwide. Already well-known in his country, in 2007 a video of Arnel singing covers of rock songs on TH-cam caught the eye of Journey's guitarist, Neal Schon. Journey auditioned Arnel and he's been their lead singer ever since. Maybe Arnel would be worth reacting to?
😂😂😂 i can't hold my laughter enjoying with these people singing in line. Filipinos past time is singing anywhere. Yes, that's inside the school, those are students in uniform. The girls in white could be nursing students. Am so proud of these singers.👍❤️🇵🇭

To answer your question, singing is a regular thing in every school, regardless. It will only vary on the number of students and professors willing to indulge at drawing out untapped talent and promoting self confidence. You will see that you will find Filipinos from all walks of life singing everywhere.

I passed one of my engineering class this way. 😂
We have this thing in the philippines that when it is start of schooling. In getting to know with the classmate and teacher, each of the student/teacher in the classroom has to mention what are their hobies in introducing oneselves and most of the time if the answer is singing or dancing, they will need show of their skills to it to the whole class, the teacher encourages students too to show off their skills since that is also one of a way to build self confidence. Ps. -Each subject has a different teacher so introducing yourself will start all over again with another teacher. -there are times also before starting the class. There is what we called ice breaker where teacher will choose who will peform in class either dancing, singing or acting. But mostly who performs it are the one who got the lowest score from the subject may it be groupings or individual task😂. -There is always a student who always bring guitar in the classroom and when there is no teacher, all the students in the room will have a jamming session.
It’s just a normal things… Sometime when they are still waiting for their teacher at that subject… If someone initiate that’s will start the singing session.

It's completely normal but now the security guards are quite grumpy, we need to sneak in our instruments if we want to bring it in. Mostly before 2017, gadgets are not really a thing in school so basically we only use music to entertain ourselves unless you're from a well-off campus and such, this is the real normal Filipino thing.
