I think the older 2018 Elantra was better looking. Instead of spending money making it look more mean and unfriendly, they should have used the cash to give it an independent rear suspension. It's a great car mechanically except for the rear suspension.
I agree. I have the 2017 model and it took time to get used to the design, but I definitely like it over the 2019 model. They could have added more horsepower to the standard engine.
Totally agree better $ spent. Add more tech features anything but messing with the exterior. It would of pushed them above their class. The 2018 Sport is a great model, I own one.
Yes, seriously. I don't know what they were thinking. Seems as though there was a lot of design influence coming from Korea. 🤢 The 2017-18 was GREAT looking. I love mine.
I bought this car and have no complaints about the looks of this car people seem to be all negative about every car that comes out I would like to see you people design something I bet it would like like shit
It won't. The Sonata is gonna adopt styling cues from the Le Fil Rouge concept. And I'm sure the next gen Elantra will follow that design too in a couple years.
This facelift to the latest Elantra cost Hyundai millions of dollars in retooling. Instead of wasting the money on something that is both unnecassary and unattractive, they should have made independent suspension standard for all Elantra models. The present model of the Elantra is superior in appearance to this "face lifted" version.
Couldn't agree with you more. Totally misguided corporate decision, lack of research. Yes! on independent suspension standard for all Elantra models. I have the 2018 Sport and drove the 2019 Elantra SE ... night and day difference in terms of drive handling feel etc....I tell you!
Not a good refresh. The 2018 were waaay better looking. 2017-2018 reminded me of the 2006-2013 Lexus IS from the rear. The proportions were just right.
I don't even know why Hyundai even did the update this early. First the Elantra came out as a 2017 model year meaning a mid-cycle refresh would have been done closer to 2020. Then the facelift is too strong, leaving little resemblance to the 2017 & 2018 cars. All I can say is WTF Hyundai.
What I think throws people off is the Grill is too curved and the grill lines are too far apart. The Lights are too geometric shaped. It just looks like they trying too hard to look modern.
Saw the new Elantra this past weekend in person and was disappointed in the exterior styling. It reminded me of a Ford Focus from a few years ago with the triangle headlights. It's a shame, because I thought the previous design looked great. Also, seeing the microphone does not add anything to the video and is distracting. I'd say have it out of the frame.
They need to up the quality of their leather or leather esque seats because they're really easy to scoff or whatever on the edges and such from getting in and out and I've only had the 2018 Elantra sport for 12000 miles now. The previous model that I have is a lot more sophisticated and good looking, but it needs to be a little bit better quality. I would also like to say that I'm pretty sure I've had my Elantra up to 135 top speed.
Thanks very much. Would have been good for you to actually open up the boot so that we could have seen the size as well as whether the spare wheel being offered was a full size or a space saver. Cheers.
I like it, looks fresh and weird enough for me and the best part: Can still be bought with a T/C auto or a Manual. Its 2018, almost 2019, no I.C.E while being turbocharged & aftercooled should be allowed to produce less than 100HP per litre. 1.4L making 128HP . . . THAT'S WEAK. 1.6L Turbo can be had with the 6 speed manual ? ! That can't be right ! If it's correct then I'm surprised AF. Good for you, Hyundai, good for you.
Good video. Don't mind the notebook or the mic. It makes it real. I think Roman has some bro love for Peter though. He mentions him so often, i'm gonna have to start a drinking game to take shots every time he says Peter's name. Hope he got his autograph when he spoke with him in the Veloster N video.
I didn't know the blind community was so involved with this refresh. Blind also approved design and the focus group was also blind. Panel gaps are very tight and uniform at least.

The 2017-2018 Elantra is much better looking than this one. I find it odd were they put the rear view camera, it's like a patch. Hyundai should have at least put it discreetly. I wonder now who designed it this way. 😁
Let me add that I have my 2018 Elantra sport up to 1:35 on the speedometer and really felt the push in 7th Gear on the DCT but I do have k&n drop-in filter replacement, they reset the learning curve for me at Hyundai, and that have a straight through exhaust with the exception of secondary cat delete Factory resonator and the addition of a straight through Magnaflow Muffler.
So, seeing it in person (AT NIGHT) the headlights look really cool. Once you get full glimpse of it though in the daylight , it's a different story 🤢 What the hell was Hyundai thinking. I believe my '17 Elantra looks much better than this.

I thought it was actually pretty cool lol there are MUCH uglier cars on the market right now than this. This is fairly cool IMO :)
For me the triangular headlights looks ugly and outdated plus its shape doesn't match with the taillights.
