    One question I have that I can't seem to find an answer for is; can the bimini top be completely removed an left in the garage. I'd like to start looking at one of these but I'd use it about 50% of the time for bass fishing and that top would likely get in the way, especially if I had more than one person on the boat. I wonder how much of a speed difference that top makes as well.

    • @WeTryMotorsports
      @WeTryMotorsports  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, check out the height video but it's 4 Allen keys. I heard it decreases 6-7mph with the bimini on

    40mph is very fast for a pontoon brother, maybe your over expecting something. That is very impressive for me. Your video just sold a switch for me.. thanks

      Right?
      Most pontoons are big and slow because they’re made for easy cruises. Top speeds around 20 mph.
      I call the Switch a jet ski on steroids. But I want one anyway!

    i think the speed is where the engine power stops.... i do not think the weight would be a real difference for top speed. it may be a difference when getting out of the hole/aka starting out.. thx for the show and showing what does happen with different weight in the boat. it is good to know it has plenty of power/powerful engine

    I haven't been able to top 37-38 so far. Got about 13 hours on it.
    With three people mostly get around 34 tops. Disappointed I have
    not hit the 40 mark . However I had some damage done to my
    impeller on maiden voyage. We found out about the damage on
    the boat when we had our 10 hour service done. Curious if this
    is the biggest reason for the low speed so far. We were told they
    dont have the parts to fix it even if we came off the hip to do it
    (claiming $800 to get it repaired labor and all). Tech suggested he
    would just deal with at later date if cavitation issues make it necessary
    to do so. The plastic "O" ring got damaged a bit as well. Likely sucked
    up a rock into it. That it the only downside to these jet powered motors.
    Be very cautious in shallow waters with it.

    • @WeTryMotorsports
      @WeTryMotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes agree big time. Although these float in shallow water, absolutely do not turn them on in under 3 feet of water. Bigtime danger. Much like jet skis, be cautious because there's a jet pump. Hopefully there's a trolling motor soon. If not, I'll be making one for fishing shallows. And yes, a busted wear ring will break before the impeller. This is by design - they are cheap and easy to replace. If there's a crack or hole, this will certainly cavitate. Anyways, keep an eye out because I'll be replacing my impeller soon with a performance one. When I do this, the wear ring will come out as well. Best of luck with yours! You'll see 40+ mph when you get that wear ring fixed. If you want to see something similar, watch my video on my many wear ring replacements on my sparks!

      @@WeTryMotorsports Btw I speculate that a a chip of the concrete
      ramp was what got sucked up in the jet. My handling was a bit
      clumsy getting out that first time. There was no dock to tie off to.
      My backing was not accurate and the bottom of the boat ended
      up sideways across the raised submerged concrete edges of the ramp.
      The water at that point was probably only a foot or so. Being a first
      time inexperienced boat owner can be expensive for sure. Likely a
      cautionary example to others like myself to be very picky with how
      and where you launch.

    • @CL-pe4ll

      Its a pontoon (tri-toon) boat.
      Its crazy it goes that fast. I've always wanted a pontoon boat. I'd rather go a little slower and have a ton of room for people to have a good time. Going fast is only fun for so long, but this boat has it all.
      I'm very impressed. No need for it to go any faster at all.
      Love his boat

    • @Harelston
      @Harelston ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CL-pe4ll Mine is the 13 footer so a ton of space is not a reality.
      The coolest feature is how nimble it is on the water .
      Speed isn't everything obviously but I have been a little concerned
      that I have not gotten it past 38. I would like to know if this is
      in line with the performance others are getting with it.
      I like the boat quite a bit overall. Btw I know I have seen at least
      one case where their speed reached the advertised speed.
      If you by chance get one like mine be aware that the weight limit(passenger)
      is low at 705 lbs. I am sure that the larger ones have a significantly
      different picture as to hauling big parties of people.

      nope, nobody has anything out there yet for tunes and according to Riva they can crank a few more HP out but not that much. In my other videos I go over the difference between NA / SC motors and what happened during announcement, after spec release and then after actual release. tbh it's compact is perfect as is BUT I would like an instant throttle response tune. can't wait for that!

    • @WeTryMotorsports
      @WeTryMotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      i can tell you from lots of boating experience, i prefer the handlebars. it's by FAR the most maneuverable and nimble pontoon boat i've ever used. the look may not be for everyone, but the way it handles is a marvel in itself.

    • @jeffbryner5355
      @jeffbryner5355 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WeTryMotorsports I don't it looks bad but doesn't look luxurious that's for sure. It's like a spark of the pontoon world imo. The handle bars may work God because of where the throttle amd reverse is but there are better looking ways to accommodate that issue. People whoe take the pwc engines out and putting them in those aluminum jet boats have figured why didn't seadoo and still use the wheel. It just looks strange to me. What you think if some put a steering wheel on a pwc? It just doesn't fit lol too each there own though 😁

    • @WeTryMotorsports
      @WeTryMotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jeffbryner5355 Have you actually driven one, though? I'd recommend that for sure! however, that's exactly how I put this "boat" in some upcoming videos. it's literally as if slapped outriggers on a GTI and called it a boat. think of it as a hybrid rather than a boat. it's unique for sure, but coming at you with 20 years of boating experience, this is far more maneuverable than any boat I've ever driven. also, this ain't a luxury boat. it's not even defined as one. it has it's own class, so I can't really describe it other than the following: it's a Switch. take it for what it is: quick, nimble, maneuverable, light, unique. again, these aren't for everyone but people need to know what these are. some people can't get out of their own head on what watercraft is supposed to be. I like the approach of open mindedness. the biggest flaw I see so far after tons of research, forum activity and groups is the 230hp exhaust molding. that's a terrible design flaw. I'd also not go above the compact. the flex on the hull is real and I wouldn't trust it beyond 13' long. I have my positives and negatives but one of the largest benefits of this over a traditional pontoon boat WOULD be the handlebar steering. Again, everyone has a preference but I totally recommend opening your mind to the benefits over the "look." That's my 2 cents.

      @@WeTryMotorsports no I have not had a chance to drive one. did get to sit in one at my dealer but that about it. My aunt has 2 gtis so I'm familiar with the reverse method coming into the slip but to me it's not any different then docking my boat or there 28ft searay other then you can spin around easier because of the size. My buddy's yamaha ar240 spins easy being it's twin engine but yes I need to drive one but until I do the handle bar kills it for me. Haha.
