  • In this episode the writings of Herodotus on the Ancient Egyptians and their world guides into a terrain of controversy as it discusses the impact and influence of Ancient Egypt on Ancient Greece and Greek Mythology. It also discusses interactions between not just Egypt and Greece but also Canaan and Libya. The main subject of this episode is Heracles. Herodotus connected Heracles to the Egyptian god Shu. Also he was associated with Khonsu, another Egyptian god who was in some ways similar to Shu. As Khonsu, Heracles was worshipped at the now sunken city of Heracleion, where a large temple was constructed.
    Most often the Egyptians identified Heracles with Heryshaf, transcribed in Greek as Arsaphes or Harsaphes (Ἁρσαφής). He was an ancient ram-god whose cult was centered in Herakleopolis Magna.

    It makes sence the Greek Solon received his information from his counterpart in Egypt about the Atlanteans and their destruction. They we're at least in that time frame, nearer that anyone else from that time. Then their is that war between the Greeks and the atlanteans, where the Greeks won a great battle. Before I forget, those goats had a great time getting muttom all year , then once a year they get choice meat or was it the other way round. Always a sprinkle of truth in story 😉. ☘️

      Black could very well simply mean more swarthy than the Greeks of those day's were.
      I mean technically most black people are really just brown, sometimes a rather light shade of it, just as modern Egyptians today are a shade of brown darker than the Europeans on tge other side of the med are.

    Herodotus, also bore actual firsthand witness to the fact that the people of ancient Egypt, KMT, were black skinned, with woolly hair and thick lips, that Egypt was a colony of Ethiopia. This remains true today of the Nubians in Upper Egypt, however, obviously this isn't the case for the majority of the amalgamated population today.

      How can Africans be both Egyptian and Hebrew? Master and slave? Afrocentrism claims they're the lost tribe of Israel (ethiopia does have hebrew), and the pharaohs! Its laughable. Egypt was conquered by nubia once, after Egypt ran the show first. They were also expelled rather quickly. There is cultural fusion on the border with nubia. That's the only claim Africans have to Egypt. The Egyptians were not sub saharan African. No more than they were indo European. They were a unique and extinct ethnic linguistic group.

    • @kurobeard9467

      @@BaltimoresBerzerker Your comment is kind of pointless. How can Europeans be both the Jews and the Nazis? Slave and Master?
      Egypt and Nubia originate from the same cultures according to most historians and anthropologists. The Egyptians were obviously not Subsaharan and nor were the Nubians, but that doesn't mean they weren't black. Black people existed on both sides of the Sahara and they still do until today.

    • @kurobeard9467

      @BaltimoresBerzerker 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kurobeard9467 you misunderstood my comment. How can the Egyptians be both black or Hebrew, either way. And also enslave themselves? DNA has settled this. Egyptians were a distinct group. People need to stop claiming every achievement in history as their own. And in another afrocentric thread I pointed out that of course sub saharan black Africans were in Egypt. So were Greeks, hebrews, etc. Doesn't mean the Egyptians weren't a unique ethnic cultural group.

      @Jan De Rijk nubia, axum, punt, garamantes, tichit, and these are mostly only of what is documented by Egyptians or Greeks. It's not taking away from a culture to say it is part of a larger culture. East african culture has had many different civilizations, Egypt and north Africa are a part of that. The entire afro-asiatic language family is an east african migration. As herodotus states the ethiopians are aboriginal to the land and the Libyans in the north and Greeks are later settlers. Northern libya herodotus refers to is a sliver of land on the coast. Strabo also makes very clear ancient Egyptians are ethiopians as they are also "sundered in twain".

    The Greek civilization is earlier than Egypt's. Stop lying people. Do your research before deciding to give people information, you teach people the wrong history. In the dialogue between Critias and Socrates, it is mentioned that when the lawgiver and one of the seven sages of antiquity, Solon the Athenian, in 639 to 559 BC visited Egypt, the Egyptian priests told him that in their holy books are recorded, among others, the following: "There were many cataclysms on earth and not one of Deucalion as you (Greeks) mention, and because of these cataclysms certain older civilizations were lost, such as for example the civilization of the Greeks that existed before the cataclysm of Deucalion. The Greeks they do not know this because after the flood those who remained did not know how to write. The Greek civilization is older than the Egyptian, and the Greek, taking into account that which existed before the flood of Deucalion, is 9,000 years old, and the Egyptian a thousand years less years, i.e. 8,000 years.
    They also say: "You know only one great cataclysm, but before Deucalion there were many other great cataclysms which our ancients recorded."
    So the priests said to him, there is no reason why I should not do it, Solon, but I will tell you everything, both for your sake and for the sake of your state, but above all for the sake of the goddess who protected, nurtured and educated yours. and then our own place, starting with you a thousand years ago"
