“The home office confirmed it will not be used for immigrants “ probably means it will be unfortunately. 😔

Why 'unfortunately'? It would keep some people in jobs a little longer.
What a sad world we live in, when people put racist bias above their fellow citizens' welfare

Great shame that it's closed after all these years, I was at the 2004 plaque unveiling, met Blakey, he was a gentleman.

Hi Graham, It's is a shame no more Pontins, one of the main holiday camps in the area. Never stayed there use to go to the shops in Prestatyn and we use to go to Ffrith beach. Where we use to go for hols between 1980-82 and in 1984 was the Inter leisure camp in Towyn with my 2 brothers Mum and Dad, from home ( Gwersyllt ) the up to Coedpoeth for Nain and Taid all in a Austin Maxi and strait up the Ruthin Road (A525). We use to go in to Prestatyn and Rhyl. It's not to bad when you travelled only 50 mins to go on holiday. Back in the 1980's the coast was like little Wrexham every were I went I bumped in to some one I knew from School or from Gwersyllt or the Wrexham area. We always went in the last week in July and the first week in Ausgust, the coal miners shut down weeks. Thanks for the video on Pontins, Take care👍

I had a look at Google, and up to a certain point in 2018 the place was cram packed with British holiday makers. In another photo in 2018 the place seemed deserted except for black families. So some time in that year the camp was closed to tourists and opened to refugees. Now in 2023 the place seems totally abandoned.

Could be flattening the site and putting caravans on there , caravan holidays are very popular these days .....

Any comment from Pontins themselves on the reason for closure? Find it concerning if theyve remained tight lipped on the reason and I dont believe a word this gov say.

Neither do I mate. I'd put money on it, they're desparate for anywhere to shove the illegal scrounging detritus. Nowhere is safe from them. Makes my blood boil.😡

'What about the people who worked there?' was my first thought. Then there are the suppliers of food, drinks and services.
I would like to see what the local council is planning to alleviate the impact. My council had plans in place years before MGRover closed, so it was not the apocalypse predicted, but still many people suffered directly and indirectly.

I liked it. It was very run down, but in its defence the entertainment was really good, especially for kids. It was a cheap break, now thats being denied to people who don’t have many options for a break. I have met some of the best people at pontins, no aires and graces, normal down to Earth folk.

Holiday sites like this are not as popular as the sites with caravans like the haven sites ,probably because people dont like staying above /below others whereas a van is more a personal unit ,it also looked outdated with the metal steps to the upper rooms and in need of a good paint job ,saying that Butlins skegness is pretty much the same thing with grubby canopies, peeling paint ,both inside and out, dirty windows ,amenities that open one day ,and closed the next due to no staff ,the big tent there was disgusting ,the best part was the fairground as it was always fully staffed ,and the cafeteria food left a lot to be desired .SO PONTINS are not the only ones with bad reviews .

i have stayed there. and even youtube videos for awhile have been the same as i came years ago.
they closed just because they do not want to pay to update the crumbering site. and this is why the boat peopl can not stay there since it is so far below level acceptable for boat people. they would go home if there where housed there

pontius at camber sands is within sight the French coast, the rnli small lifeboats, could land the ex french illegals into rye Harbour and bused out to pontins. brittania hotels own pontins so wouldn't they rent out a holiday camp to government
