I could not keep these fish off my jig! Wasn't expecting this while dock shooting for crappie!

    In this video I am back down at one of my favorite East Texas lakes looking for more crappie under the docks. I could not help but notice the odd fish I was catching. Sorry for the audio in the intro/outro. I am still trying to get use to not putting my fingers on the mic.

    You need a Sampo nylon stringer from Jann’s Netcraft.
    You can attach the end to your Yak and have eight loops to put fish on.
    Order the 10 foot one.

      I have a clip for the stringer I have and need to use it LOL. Here in a couple weeks it will be so hot that I will put the fish straight on ice

      The angle has to be very sharp , or it hits the water and just goes under and doesn’t skip.

    I love my Sam Heston rods! I got a 9 ft spinner for casting jigs and a 10ft rear seat I use to jig the thick stuff on Okeechobee. Have no problem horsing even the big ones outta thick stuff. 👍👍

    Great video! Love it when those Crappie are stacked in under docks. Have you ever had a large fish go after the fish on the stringer? I had caught perch, put them on a stringer. A musky was tugging at the perch.

    If you hold the jig in your left hand you won’t have to switch hands with your rod on every cast and your ready for the fast bite when it hits the water

    I gotta learn how to shoot my jigs. But I'm so scared I'll hook myself! You do it with ease!!

      I have hooked myself a few times and it isn't fun at all. Practice helps for sure. They also have some tabs to but on the hook and you can hold that and shoot that way you aren't close to the hook. I think they are made by bobby garland

When i show up at lakes i fish alot other fisherman/woman praise me for my skill of fishing. Shooting would be a great notch under my belt. They say if i don't catch em no one will. It used to embarrass me but I've gotten used to it. But it makes people watch me and ask questions. Too much pressure on me. But I'm always nice about it and try to give good advice. Thanks for always sharing great content and info with us!!

    I remember when two time Bassmaster Classic winner, George Cochran fished the 1987 Classic. It was near impossible to catch a keeper.. George won the Classic with only 15 lbs. 5 oz. ..George was a dock shooter as was Hank Parker.

      @@BobbyOfEarth haha I was born 1980 so I remember when I’d wake up super early on Saturday morning’s to watch Fishing.. seasons on the Fly, hank Parker, jimmy Houston, and best one… IN FISHERMAN … with AL Linder. Then Bassmasters came on after. I wasn’t a huge bass fisherman but watched it all every weekend faithfully. Now days it’s not like that on TV

I subscribed to Bassmaster and I got my pack of Tru-Turn Brute hooks, a pack of Manns Auger tail worms and a tube of Manns HS454 fish attractant ..all of which I used to catch an 8 1/2 lb bass at our local lake. Fished them until 2002... Nice chatting with you.

      It’s really fun! I love it but to be honest it drift really bad. I do have an anchor I plan on using for that this year though. It peddles easily though.

    few things that could make video better . 1 GET a 🎤cause you covering up the mic on the 📷 .
    2 GET another one to mount on kayak.
    Maybe try a chest mount so you can check lens every on and again for water lens fog or dirt .

      Thanks for watching and taking the time to type this. I don’t need a mic. Just need to not cover the mic up on the go pro which I am working on. I would love another go pro mounted on the Yak but they are 250$ a pop (I take donations on lives if you are interested). I hate the way a video comes out on the chest cam. That’s why I don’t use it. I hate seeing someone arms in the shot and not the fish LOL. I really never have issues with water or fog on the lens just a weird thing. Hope through all the issues with it you still enjoyed it

    Do you ever find Crappie to be mushy in warmer water? Iv found I need to put them in ice immediately otherwise they are so mushy you can’t hardly eat em.

      I haven’t noticed that myself but once it gets hot, I put the fish straight on ice so I wouldn’t know. Putting them on ice for a while makes them easier to clean too

    I don't understand having to shoot the line under the dock seems like it would be easier to me just to side arm it under the dock but I know everyone has their own way of doing things so maybe it's easier for him to shoot it under the dock but just a suggestion

      It does seem like it would be easier and it can be depending on conditions but I have found shooting it under there gets the jig under there further more times than not. Especially from a yak, shooting is way easier :)

      I caught 20 black crappies yesterday and the longest one was 11 inches. I keep them if they are 10 inches and up.
