  • The secret is out! One of the most important aspects of shallow water crappie fishing is staying in the strike zone for a prolonged period. This is accomplished with a slow falling presentation and this new soft plastic rig is the deadliest for when crappies are in skinny water!

    Promote that rod, I can fish with a zebco 202 on a 5' rod from the 1960's and catch Crappie. I'm old School I'm not going to spend $50 or more on a rod and reel to catch a typical pan fish. I catch them all the time year round 10" to 15". Money, money, money, don't need it to catch quality fish. HA! HA!

    So turning the bait sideways to the hook allows it to sink slower?? I'm calling BS on that. Same mass, same surface area = same fall rate. Not saying the technique doesn't have benefits but that ain't one of them.

    • @gnibs1492
      @gnibs1492 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      same mass, yes. same surface area, not so much, the surface area that is dragging against the water is increased by about 13 times. Just try it and you will see it will fall slower.

      6 is good for heavier baits or around thick cover. 4lbs casts a lot better and longer with smaller baits and is appropriate for more open water situations.

    • @SportsmansJournalTV
      @SportsmansJournalTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      natural beauty good observation! But yes, KCRs have plenty of backbone to flip fish in. The use of the net was for 2 reasons: 1. we didn’t won’t to loose any of the bigger ones for tv purposes. And second the bigger fish were prespawn so didn’t want to take the chance of hurting one if it fell in the boat.
