This is Roy from Philly. A great day on the water is what it is all about. Nice Fishin video!! Thanks for sharing. I don't quite understand all the hate being thrown at you guys but keep the vids coming. Just remember whether they hate or like, it is still counted as a view. So haters, keep haten just keep watchin!
I love Sportsman Journal. Tyler and Sarah are SO personable as well as knowledgable about their kinds of fishing. And me being a Southerner I also love their accents, lol.
I’m from the also and just got into the fish life ! I pray this helps me out ! I stay on the gaffney And spartanburg area! Don’t much about fishing spots but I’m trying to learn
Sportsman's Journal TV I fish for crappie year round (3-4 days a week). My son accidentally put on a tube jig that way a few weeks ago and said “you don’t rig it like a Senko”. I don’t bass fish, unless my property floods. I’ll try it this week. Our water is 65 degrees
Creative thought of wacky style to fish for crappie! Have you tried to use bare Aberdeen hook with the plastic lure? That will even more slow down the falling of the lure.
first----awesome video, i enjoyed watching it. second--when i do all my crappies & trout fishing, I use the 2inch---1/16oz. Floating Gold flame yo-zuri pin minnows. They work wonders
6 is good for heavier baits or around thick cover. 4lbs casts a lot better and longer with smaller baits and is appropriate for more open water situations.
Big difference I use 2lb test and catch more than on 4lb test the lighter the better and more natural they cant feel the light line on their lips as well.
natural beauty good observation! But yes, KCRs have plenty of backbone to flip fish in. The use of the net was for 2 reasons: 1. we didn’t won’t to loose any of the bigger ones for tv purposes. And second the bigger fish were prespawn so didn’t want to take the chance of hurting one if it fell in the boat.
Not to burst your bubble, but I was taught that technique, by a girlfriend's father, when our live bait shiner minnows would expire. That was in the early '80s. Good show though. 👍
From Mississippi with love, excellent show guys. I would love to fish in that part of the country. I will say the crappie there look kind of tiny (no offense). If I can put a coke can in it’s mouth, it’s a keeper here. Great show though, seriously love it
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing your secrets and techniques. I will have to try out some of my 1/64 as opposed to my typical 1/32. I’m curious what model of sunglasses you were wearing?
So turning the bait sideways to the hook allows it to sink slower?? I'm calling BS on that. Same mass, same surface area = same fall rate. Not saying the technique doesn't have benefits but that ain't one of them.
same mass, yes. same surface area, not so much, the surface area that is dragging against the water is increased by about 13 times. Just try it and you will see it will fall slower.
Promote that rod, I can fish with a zebco 202 on a 5' rod from the 1960's and catch Crappie. I'm old School I'm not going to spend $50 or more on a rod and reel to catch a typical pan fish. I catch them all the time year round 10" to 15". Money, money, money, don't need it to catch quality fish. HA! HA! ,
Good fishing but check. Your shallow is different compared to people who fish from shore your in a boat. See what I'm saying. Or that can reached by casting from shore?? Just saying everyone doesn't have a boat so this is those who don't.
Fishing a Private area, and knowing where they are at......Is not a fishing show. Yet, it's a good marketing tool. Ya'll not fishing to eat.....ya'll fishing to sell merch. SAD.
The lake is public, with a public launch. Not sure why you think it’s private. And we do eat fish, just not this episode. Unfortunately we have had personal experience where keeping big females decimated a population, so we are very aware of helping keep these public lakes healthy for everyone to enjoy.
You guy`s are GREAT together on the water & I like your videos.. but why do you say CRAPPIES when describing this species ?? Do you also say BASSES or TROUTS,or Salmons when describing those species of fish? With all due respect lose the "S" it makes you sound amateurish.
@@SportsmansJournalTV Your English practices could use a refresher . I suggest you look up how to use it (Crappie) in a sentence. Hope you`re not butt hurt by being informed of proper use of the word. The word Crappie doesn`t need an "S" to imply more than one.

Never get sick of crappies fishing. Great show!
Love catching big crappie, have been making videos on using different crappie baits. Also some bass baits, just loaded a bass video. FLC

Killed the crappie today using this !! I just downsized it and used a slip float. Thank you !!
TheRasta815 that is Awesome! Glad to hear you pounded them!!
Thanks for the tip. Water temps are still in the upper 40s in Western N.Y. if we ever get a whole week of warm weather I'll be trying it out

Another great show you are 100 percent correct about boat control..I have to try wackey rigging..Some of those crappies were tanks. Nice job
Michael Prevost let me know how you do! Good luck 👍
Boat control is everything/ next to depth control

Fish & dish the slower the fall the more deadly it becomes! 🤜💥🤛
You guys do a great job love your show.
I subscribed as soon as I seen the intro very nice !
Great video thanks is there a link to get this lure?
Wow awesome day thanks for the tips and nice to see you didn’t keep the huge ones

Apparently the crappie don't have my number. Great show.

People enough with the negativity. Great fishing info. You learn something new every day. Great tactic, will try it out.
Right on
You can tell you all are from up north. You have somewhat of an Canadian accent! Nice Crappie.
Wow so many negative comments, good show, I haven’t seen that technique used for crappie before, what is that rod your using?
Holy crap this looks like my lake in the Northwoods. I hammer crappy all summer long usually “on the top” especially around dusk. Great eating.
Looks like a good tactic,I'll try it.

Shawn Eldridge we have used the pin minnows in Iowa Trout streams in the past and your right they produce!🤜💥🤛

Nice video! What pound test line were you using? Would the slip bobbers work as well with that rig?
I would use between 4lb to 6lb test and slip bobber will work.
He is using 4lb suffix mono
4lb mono
What is that shield on the stern of the boat?
CarlBigA007 wave whackers. They prevent splashing in over your transom. Very popular with tiller boats.
Is 6lb line work really well, how big the difference between 4 and 6 lb line? also the difference for trout?

if you can catch a fish in Iowa, you can catch a fish anywhere... and tell that guy tilling his garden that we're trying to film a show here

You can bet your hockey socks that’s a magnum ... ae’? Lmao
Those pan fish don't give a crap on how the bait was rigged. If they hungry, they'll strike at it.
their point is to rig it like that so it sinks slow and stays in the strike zone longer

caught a 16.3 inch Crappie the other day on the Spillway. About 2lbs 7oz.
I would just love 10"-12" crappie. I am even happy with 7" or 8". If it takes my offering, I am happy. I would love to go down South.
23"-26" crappie in the gilbert river. Sauvie island, Or

Asian been fishing like this in Minnesota for years. Wacky rig a Bobby garland baby shad on a jig head.

Hello
How about keeping the camera only on sarah?
Ok I see you fishing into the shore. Cool. My fault. Same shallow thanks
no offence--spawning crappies---nuff said.

Or that can reached by casting from shore?? Just saying everyone doesn't have a boat so this is those who don't.
myron boyle totally get it. This technique is still proven when fishing from shore. Try working the shore line horizontally instead of vertically.
I tried this from shore at a small municipal pond and got 4 bass and only 1 crappie. No fish visible from shore. Oh well, something took it.
Never a net and no glasses
Good deal guys but it's not new. I've been doing that w gulp n ice jigs for yrs now
🤑 folks.
Leave prego alone.
That first crappie was not a "magnum". It was an average size for a "southern lake"crappie. A big fish here is 17 inches.
But it is big where they are.. so...
