I just love watching you go plaid inside. Good to see a Walksnail and HDZero version. I have to agree, even tho I don't fly 2s much and need to get use to that little extra power, 2s versions of these HD Whoops would be great. I plan on putting a HDZero whoop setup in a Mob7 2s once those ship. It just made more sense with the extra weight and power requirements for these little HD systems. I know this is a year old but I just received an air75 from betafpv and It’s not really flyable, the nose constantly bobbles up and down and it’s rough. I’m not surprised they gave you a “tested model” . I have always appreciated your work.
I would suggest comparing the pid tune on the quad you have vs the cli download from the betafpv.com support website for the air75. It could be the pid tune didn't make it on to the quad you have.
I completely agree on the 2s version. I think I may build that myself instead of waiting on them to make one. Just need to find some motors in the 14000-16000 kv range for it.
Some great flying. I just got my first real quad, a Meteor75 (Ace Pilot version) I'm still learning. But I'm already thinking about my next one being HD. I'm actually torn between the 75 and the 85. I think I might go with the 85HD for outside and keep my current analog 75 for indoors. Thanks for the great review.
Hi Nick, I got the meteor 75 pro hd walksnail 1s elrs (BT2.0) and a set of walksnail goggles L and cant get the VTX to bind. I made sure that the software on the goggles where updated and correct and went through the binding process several times and still cant get anything but (no sig) and (transmitter disconnected).I would really appreciate your or anyone's advice
Are you following the binding method in the walksnail manual? If so does the walksnail vtx have power....the vtx has lights. When you press the button the vtx to bind can you feel the button depress and release (button functioning normally). If the vtx has power and you are following the binding process from the manual I would suggest contacting walksnail support as you may have a faulty vtx.

Thank you. My recollection is yes. We haven't seen a quad that doesn't turtle mode in a long while. Of course there are limits to it. In most cases if we have a flat surface it will turtle fine, if one or more prop is obstructed it won't likely turtle. further smaller quads in grass or brush that might not be obstructing props but isn't flat can have trouble as they likely need to cut the brush/grass to a certain degree to flip over.
Can you remember what version of Betaflight your review model had ? The one I purchased in October 2023 came with Betaflight v4.2.11 which is not only obsolete but doesn't appear to support Walksnail HD OSD. Very annoying for what I had hoped to be a "ready to fly" model.
Sorry I don't recall that detail. I presume it had betaflight 4.3.x. Yours could have been older due to a manufacturing/assembly mistake or maybe the reseller had it on the shelf and didn't rotate inventory with the first in first out rotation. I would presume its most likely an assembly mistake as My early version likely had a newer version of betaflight.

There is a mobula7 walksnail version as well as a mobula6 walksnail. I haven't bought a 5v regulator in a long while I would just google "pololu 5v regulator"

Yeah. The brownouts on the 1s ws vtx, on actual 1s batteries, are real. Was definitely flying my moblite7 outside and nearly lost it after a few low-batt punchouts lol. Would only use 1s batteries for indoor whooping. I have a baby nano 20 on 2s and it makes more sense for freestyle.
Great video Nick and I totally agree with the voltage limit thoughts. I see you are running the HDZero goggles, do you have a pair of Fatsnails or just the Walksnail VRX? I have come to enjoy my Walksnail goggles due to their light weight and nice comfortable stock foam. I run mine without a faceplate though and just put velcro directly on the goggles where the plate would go and stuck the foam to that. Helped get my eyes a little closer just short of lashes touching.
Hello Nick, I just purchased one of the Meteor75 Pro's and was trying to figure out how I can pull off any video from the Walksnail as you did to see if BetaFPV had done any testing on my unit....this is my first Walksnail to try out so im having to learn all the tricks.....ive pretty much have just used all DJI video transmitters. I really enjoy all your videos, keep up the great work man!
there is two ways, the goggles/vrx will record the video if we have pressed the button to record the flight. This recording is stored on the sd card within the vrx or goggles. We do have to supply the sd card and select the record button for there to be a recording. The second way is the storage onboard. The walksnail vtx comes with a usb cable where the other end has a small connector. We connect that to a computer and can view and or copy the recording from the onboard storage with a computer. Again we have to have selected to record the flight from the goggles or vrx. If your flying line of sight without goggles I don't believe there is a way to initiate a recording and thus there won't be a recording.
@@TheGuigotz Are you flying the walksnail version? It has a recording without the osd on the vtx. There is a small connector that we can connect the short usb cable it should have come with to this small connector on the walksnail vtx.

This is the pro version which is bigger than 75mm mtm, and runs 45mm props. This combo inside is going to be more challenging inside than a traditional 75mm mtm 40mm propped whoop which I think will be better overall for indoor and outdoor use.
In the 75 category the pro version is harder as it’s not 75mm motor to motor but 82mm motor to motor and weighs more. I highly suggest for analog to go true 75mm or 65mm pro
On the tight battery holder - on mine I just cut them in two at the center, and now they can flex open wider for fatter batteries, all the way up to the GNB 850s.
That is an option, I am not comfortable with that as if we crash the battery won't be held as securly and batty rejection can pull on the pads on the AIO, which could result in damage requiring a new AIO.
@@NickBurnsFPV So far I haven't crashed hard enough to even move a battery in the holder, but I don't fly as fast you indoors! The BFPV 550s do fit a little looser once the holders have been spread with fatter batteries. On my AIO, the battery wires are soldered into through holes, so I think the connector will unplug before the wires pull out.
Your flight control is excellent! I'm having trouble flying around an empty room. :_( Are there beginner setting (controller and/or quad) I should have, or is it just a matter of practice?
are your video clips of the goggle DVR or onboard DVR? Also have you messed with the settings like day/night/race mode? Or change the white balance from auto, or EV settings? Just curious!
All flight footage in this one is from vtx. Good call out I failed to tag it. I don’t change camera setting unless required. I switch goggles to 720p high frame rate. No camera changes
The latency is a pretty minor issue for me. I find if I am flying inside and switching back and forth between analog and hd I notice it, but otherwise its a non issue for me.
@@NickBurnsFPV You fly fasr tight lines, hopefully it's that way for me, but with a 5 inch it may be more noticeable. Have you had any goggle issues using the modules? I'm pretty sure it's trying to kill the cheap hdmi bd in my old fatshark doms, it also makes the screens not work for analog, power cycling, and waiting a few minutes both come back, I did it twice to confirm, but I'm not pushing it since I still have analog that works. Do you know if the hdmi bd goes out if the analog still works, or does it shut the screens down?
@@RCOverKill I haven't had hdmi issues, but I am using the hdzero goggles or the testing on skyzone goggles. I have read many have trouble with hdmi and fatshark goggles. I don't believe analog is impacted if hdmi dead or dies. At least I have not read about analog failing in such a senario
We add it online to the wiring powering the vtx. I don’t have a video on such a thing. Likely one out there online but several years old and not specifically for hd fpv
I’m guessing yours was tested. My meteor 75 2022 had a bad motor out of the box. A week later after back and forth emails and they mailed me a new one.

I would need much more information. Inside, outside, what does "best" mean to you? Cheapest, longest flight time, most performance, most durable, inside flight, outside flight, hd, or analog. I have yet to find a RTF kit that doesn't have at least one shortcoming.
Yup. When it went to black I had no idea where it landed in that area, on the roof, neighbors roof, grass, bush etc. thankfully the video did come back and it was easier to identify where it was
@@NickBurnsFPV I'm glad it came back 👍 Not knowing where your drone is isn't as fun as hide n seek. I equip loud beepers that has a bright strobe light that runs on external tiny battery if your battery pack runs too low.
I have had one other person report they don’t have brownouts. It could have been the betafpv batteries or the 5v regulator on mine wasn’t working normally after all my indoor crashing. I would like to have more confirmation though. I did take it out again today as it was so nice, I found a less fast 100% throttle movement was handled normally. In my video I was punching it quick…not smooth.
Really the issue comes down to motors. Often the kv between 1s and 2s is so wide that on 1s its super slow almost nearly boring to unfun, then on 2s it is much more like our modern day micros.
Not being able to use full throttle without fear of a brownout is like buying a sports car and not being able to floor it. These micros are too easy to lose in tall grass when you lose video.(happened to me so many times with battery ejections). For that reason alone, I would either do either the regulator mod or just use HD Zero.
very short: 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s....the number is refering to cell count and that will translate to voltage. Generally speaking, 1s = 4.2volts, 2s = 8.4volts etc. If we plug in a 2s battery to a quad designed to run 1s we burn/destroy something, either flight controller or esc, maybe even motors. Some components are compatible for a range of cell counts, but it's rare a quad overall is compatible with a range of cell counts/voltages.
@@NickBurnsFPV thank you. I have some 4s and when I plug them in to charger the they say they are full but when I plug it into my quad it says there is no battery and they fly for like 30 seconds i dont think im charging them right
@@mark6302 that is very strange. not sure I have heard that before. check the power and battery tab of betaflight and see what is has there. Maybe the max voltage is set to less than 4.35 and that could cause the low voltage to be displayed on a full battery.
A guy I know has built a 75mm DJI Naked Vista Whoop LIGHTER THAN THIS WALKSNAIL VERSION! We both believe we can turn the corner on 30 grams and get it 29.? grams with a Naked Vista! Manufacturers NEVER build whoops as light as we can build them ourselves! They ALWAYS screw it up with several parts that are simply too damn heavy! So, sorry, but I'm not impressed! 🤷♂🤦♂
Happymodel is pretty much the only company that pushes the weight down. I am not sure why others don’t, speculate it’s not important to them or lack the knowledge, or supporting😂 ultralight whoops. Myself when I get my build weigh down super low I end up with it broken before it makes its way into a video.

smaller is more manageable inside. 85 gets pretty big and fast.

Short answer is no. I have tinkered with adding an external 5v regulator.

No, this is the walksnail video system it is not compatible with dji, and dji doesn't have hdmi input to run the walksnail vrx.

That ticking and bobbling you see outside is an issue with the Gyro in the FC. I had the same problem on 65mm flown indoors on same board.
Does the 5A fc with the 1102 22k motors mean theres a risk of burning out the fc?
no because it is running a 1s lipo so the motor amp pull is safe. Also 5amp esc is 5amp per motor/esc so 5x4=20amp esc.

I have both the vrx and the fatshark dominator HD for walksnail. I like to be able to remove the vrx when not in use.

I'm debating between the Meteor75 HDZero Pro vs Non-Pro, is the Pro version that much harder to fly indoors? I plan on flying more indoors. Thanks!
In the 75 category the pro version is harder as it’s not 75mm motor to motor but 82mm motor to motor and weighs more. I highly suggest for analog to go true 75mm or 65mm pro

It will but to a lesser degree. I believe I verbalize my thoughts in the video with a bit more detail.
On the tight battery holder - on mine I just cut them in two at the center, and now they can flex open wider for fatter batteries, all the way up to the GNB 850s.
That is an option, I am not comfortable with that as if we crash the battery won't be held as securly and batty rejection can pull on the pads on the AIO, which could result in damage requiring a new AIO.
@@NickBurnsFPV So far I haven't crashed hard enough to even move a battery in the holder, but I don't fly as fast you indoors! The BFPV 550s do fit a little looser once the holders have been spread with fatter batteries. On my AIO, the battery wires are soldered into through holes, so I think the connector will unplug before the wires pull out.
Your flight control is excellent! I'm having trouble flying around an empty room. :_( Are there beginner setting (controller and/or quad) I should have, or is it just a matter of practice?
Angle mode does making flying a bit more simple, if you haven't tried angle mode maybe that will help. Otherwise its down to practice.
are your video clips of the goggle DVR or onboard DVR? Also have you messed with the settings like day/night/race mode? Or change the white balance from auto, or EV settings? Just curious!
All flight footage in this one is from vtx. Good call out I failed to tag it. I don’t change camera setting unless required. I switch goggles to 720p high frame rate. No camera changes

Best depends on what an individual prioritizes

How do you feel about the latency of the walksnail system, does it take a minute to get feel adjusted to it?
The latency is a pretty minor issue for me. I find if I am flying inside and switching back and forth between analog and hd I notice it, but otherwise its a non issue for me.
@@NickBurnsFPV You fly fasr tight lines, hopefully it's that way for me, but with a 5 inch it may be more noticeable. Have you had any goggle issues using the modules? I'm pretty sure it's trying to kill the cheap hdmi bd in my old fatshark doms, it also makes the screens not work for analog, power cycling, and waiting a few minutes both come back, I did it twice to confirm, but I'm not pushing it since I still have analog that works. Do you know if the hdmi bd goes out if the analog still works, or does it shut the screens down?
@@RCOverKill I haven't had hdmi issues, but I am using the hdzero goggles or the testing on skyzone goggles. I have read many have trouble with hdmi and fatshark goggles. I don't believe analog is impacted if hdmi dead or dies. At least I have not read about analog failing in such a senario

We add it online to the wiring powering the vtx. I don’t have a video on such a thing. Likely one out there online but several years old and not specifically for hd fpv

I’m guessing yours was tested. My meteor 75 2022 had a bad motor out of the box. A week later after back and forth emails and they mailed me a new one.

What is the best mini fpv kit?
I would need much more information. Inside, outside, what does "best" mean to you? Cheapest, longest flight time, most performance, most durable, inside flight, outside flight, hd, or analog. I have yet to find a RTF kit that doesn't have at least one shortcoming.

Yup. When it went to black I had no idea where it landed in that area, on the roof, neighbors roof, grass, bush etc. thankfully the video did come back and it was easier to identify where it was
@@NickBurnsFPV I'm glad it came back 👍 Not knowing where your drone is isn't as fun as hide n seek. I equip loud beepers that has a bright strobe light that runs on external tiny battery if your battery pack runs too low.

I have had one other person report they don’t have brownouts. It could have been the betafpv batteries or the 5v regulator on mine wasn’t working normally after all my indoor crashing. I would like to have more confirmation though. I did take it out again today as it was so nice, I found a less fast 100% throttle movement was handled normally. In my video I was punching it quick…not smooth.
Would be cool if a company did one that is 1s and 2s compatible so 1s indoors and 2s outdoors
Really the issue comes down to motors. Often the kv between 1s and 2s is so wide that on 1s its super slow almost nearly boring to unfun, then on 2s it is much more like our modern day micros.

I would be up in the air between 1s and 2s. only because that class should be 1s, but I love how my mob7 flew on 2s before I put in 27000kv motors.
I think 2s hd whoops would be a reasonable solution the video brownout situation

Not being able to use full throttle without fear of a brownout is like buying a sports car and not being able to floor it. These micros are too easy to lose in tall grass when you lose video.(happened to me so many times with battery ejections). For that reason alone, I would either do either the regulator mod or just use HD Zero.
i'm new to this whole deal and batteries are the most confusing part so far.
very short: 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s....the number is refering to cell count and that will translate to voltage. Generally speaking, 1s = 4.2volts, 2s = 8.4volts etc. If we plug in a 2s battery to a quad designed to run 1s we burn/destroy something, either flight controller or esc, maybe even motors. Some components are compatible for a range of cell counts, but it's rare a quad overall is compatible with a range of cell counts/voltages.
@@NickBurnsFPV thank you. I have some 4s and when I plug them in to charger the they say they are full but when I plug it into my quad it says there is no battery and they fly for like 30 seconds i dont think im charging them right
@@mark6302 that is very strange. not sure I have heard that before. check the power and battery tab of betaflight and see what is has there. Maybe the max voltage is set to less than 4.35 and that could cause the low voltage to be displayed on a full battery.

A guy I know has built a 75mm DJI Naked Vista Whoop LIGHTER THAN THIS WALKSNAIL VERSION! We both believe we can turn the corner on 30 grams and get it 29.? grams with a Naked Vista! Manufacturers NEVER build whoops as light as we can build them ourselves! They ALWAYS screw it up with several parts that are simply too damn heavy!

Happymodel is pretty much the only company that pushes the weight down. I am not sure why others don’t, speculate it’s not important to them or lack the knowledge, or supporting😂 ultralight whoops. Myself when I get my build weigh down super low I end up with it broken before it makes its way into a video.
