Stunning photography, the sheer powerful sounds of the engines. We don't have the same in the deserts of Tarcoola , Sth Australia. So flat that only 2 or 3 engines are needed.
I can't fathom that many locomotives under power to get an intermodal train over a grade. What % grade is that? I run 16k-18k ton trains out of Roanoke heading back home to Linwood. Our ruling grade In Danville, VA is 1.7% and that only requires 3 ACs. Conventional setup ( all on the head end) will get it over but with alot of grinding, but a 2x1 setup will climb a little faster.
*They got a dining hall inside thoze things, a frig. a microwave or just carry their own lunch? LOL The grinding of thoze loco wheels is amazing. Surprised there's anything left...*
The RR,s are not considering local smaller crossing where in my city we get blocked frequently n have to turn and drive extra two miles to nearest over pass .
The idea that Unions presented a few years ago, about the lack of People to move appropriate length trains, seems to have faded from memory? In the 1950's and 1960's Trains were working to serve shippers all over the Nation. Today a small number of shippers still see the products the "Supply Chain" delivers to ports in the USA. The Section Gangs that took responsibility for Track in their area, are gone and Contractor Crews have replaced them at less cost. The Greed of Investors to deliver profits at any cost, look like they have succeeded? The ability to label the US Transportation as efficient, seems to face some obstacles?
@@davehughesfarm7983 I have watched Railroads dwindle as the effort to burn Fuel to support Oil Company Investors. It does not provide efficient transportation, even if it creates profits for the proper people.

That's about 2.5 miles of train? What an incredible effort!
Yep just about! Took forever to pass through but was worth it
nice show bud,new sub here from NC,thanks for sharing
are all these engines online? Do restrictions on how many engines can be online apply to these behemoth trains?
No I’m pretty sure you can have as many engines online for this purpose

Downgrade to San Bernardino, it’s over 3 percent. I think it’s just under 3 heading towards summit

Wouldn’t it have been easier to break that into two trains, and get it over Cajón faster????..anyway, awesome clip.
Possibly but they had enough engines to get it over so I don’t think it was a problem
Is this Matt? Nice video!
No not Matt
you know VR virtural railfan has a camera stationed about a quarter mile from where you filmed some of that at in Hesperia ca.
Yes. We were trying to get to it but couldn’t because this train was blocking our view of it
@@thehighiron and it still looks like you had fun
All that effort - are such long trains really efficient?
In certain aspects yes
The RR,s are not considering local smaller crossing where in my city we get blocked frequently n have to turn and drive extra two miles to nearest over pass .
They are efficient to the carrier that they don’t have to pay an extra crew. That’s about it
@ Yes, and long enough for a manned helper - there is your 2nd crew?

It is all astonishing.
