I went to Nats-Dodgers game in 2013, and I remember looking at the program and thinking that the Dodgers roster looked like an all star team. Now I know why.
I lower my lifespan a little each and every postseason due to the disease that is a broken heart. I have been a Dodger fan since I was born -- in 1976.
I live in the DR. The Dodgers in 2017 renovated their Academy here and let me tell you, that thing is insane, easily the BEST Academy Facility in the country and every team has one here.
My childhood had the Dodgers win two World Series titles and then mostly suck for decades. I think ignorance (of that winning feeling) may be a significant bliss in your case because losing every year in the postseason fucking sucks! There's no other way for me to put it.
Who's here because of new mini-series, "Winning Time". Thank God for Magic Johnson & the new owners. He carried over the Jerry Buss' way in how to build a successful franchise. This Dodger team in the last 10 yrs has been the most consistent successful in its history. The turnaround from McCourt to this is a story in itself. It's Winning Time 2. Should've had a few more titles if it weren't for the Astros' cheating scandal.
Really good video. Even though the Dodgers haven’t won a WS with their improved ownership, they are putting themselves in position to do so every year, which will be better in the long run than a team that wins it and dips/stagnates.
Yeah... well... my heart can't take too many more of these postseason losses, so I'm not so sure about your analysis. At least when they're not winning, there's no broken heart. As someone who has been watching the Dodgers since birth in 1976, this really does hurt more.
Also, let's be real. The Dodgers probably got cheated out of the 2017 and maybe even the 2018 World Series Titles. Not saying they would have definitely won, but atleast 17 seems like they were definitely cheated out of the title. Guess we'll never know for sure
Two years later and this video continues to age like fine wine. Look at the 2022 Dodgers: as I'm writing this, they're on pace to win 113 games, and they're doing it with a bunch of castaway pitchers no other teams wanted while half of their homegrown starters (Kershaw, Buehler) are hurt. It really does show that having the right people behind the scenes doing the dirty work is the key to consistent, sustained success.
I remember I started watching full games right when puig came up. It wasn’t a good season early on but wow I started seeing the impact that Puig had and his spark was over enough to make the whole dodgers go on winning streaks and it reeled me in like a fish and since then I haven’t stopped watching dodgers. Before I was just one of those dodgers fans that didn’t know nothing just like kemp and Kershaw. Even Jansen wasn’t really good early on in 2013 but he just became one of the best closer right before our eyes.
Hanley Ramirez came back from injury as well, right when Puig came up. And that team was 30-42 at the time, and 50 games later... 72-50. Just crazy how much fun that was. And yet, somehow, 42-8 over 50 games isn't even the Dodgers' best 50 game stretch. In 2017, they went 43-7 at one point, 51-9 over 60.
As a Dodgers fan, I love how solid the team is and every year it feels like we have a chance. However it always that one team was just better for that year. The past four years it truly been hurt break to see us losing to the World Series winner. Reminds me of the Brooklyn Dodgers of the 50s. A good team that cant win because someone else was better than you. “Wait til next year.” It shows on how do you want it: you can be good for a long time and have a chance or do you want to go all on one year. Baseball gods can be fair or foul. I just want to see them win it.
Dodgers really should win it in 2020 if there is a season. With David Price and Mookie Betts adding to an already great team that didn't lose any big pieces besides Ryu, and has Gavin Lux set to play his first full season, there's just no team that it makes sense could realistically be better than the Dodgers.
@@jadegrace1312 Trades don't worked out in the end. David Price is a choker, Betts not good in the playoffs. Remember Darvish and Machado or Grenkie at Houston? Free Agency is the only way to win it all. Yankees got Cole and they are next in line.
Great video, as a lifelong dodger fan i love the franchise right now because even though they have a huge payroll, theyre always bringing up guys or trading for guys that turn out to be stars
The dodgers have money and always have a good farm system. It’s great. I know it’s been like 30 years but I rather make the playoffs every year and maybe win one every three decades than no playoffs for years on end and have a one hit wonder season where they won it all. Like the Royals.
Leadership is the key to success in everything and the Dodgers ownership group is amazing and committed to winning . It’s been great being a Dodger fan .
This video sums up everything very well. As a lifelong Dodgers fan, I'm very happy of where the team has gone in the last few years. That title is going to be so nice when we finally win it.
I just learned a lot about my favorite team, stuff that I should've known way sooner. Just gained and even greater appreciation for them and truly realize that when it comes to fans across all sports, us dodger fans are quite spoiled.
You know how things rise and fall in baseball. When I was a kid (a long f'ing time ago) I lived in Boston and envied the Os almost to the point of hate because they always, always were in the Series or close to it, and won a few as well. They had a solid farm system that produced ace starters every few years, who came to the Show already having 3 good pitches. They had power hitters. As Earl Weaver said, "pitching and 3-run homers." In the WS 66, 69, 70, 71, 79, 83, won three of those. People forget that now but that was an impressive run spanning 3 decades. Keep rooting, maybe it will come around again. I was 49 by the time my Sox actually won one.
This is an enlightening video, showing how the organization is head and shoulders above most of Baseball. My one peeve is that you call ownership "the Magic group" when Magic is a minority share owner who is more a ceremonial owner than a dad-to-day operations owner.
Dodgers will win the WS at some point. They are built to last and have a structure in place to keep winning afterwards, unlike most teams who fall off after winning once. I just hope when they do win one, Kershaw is still on the team.
I don't hear nearly enough people talking about how ironic it is that TWO of the Dodgers' championships came in 1981 and 2020, which were both shortened seasons.

I totally agree it’s not all about money, as there are many other factors that you talked about contributing to their success. But I still feel like the money is a big part that many other teams don’t have access to. Or maybe it’s just other owners being too greedy/stingy. Idk. Maybe it comes down to the fact that Dodgers ownership just “cares” more? For example: the better scouts, better nutrition, better coaches at every level, better work environment, etc.. I know that’s a bit generalized, but when owners are far more focused on ticket sales, TV deals, and stadium beer prices, it’s easy to think they don’t really care as much as an ownership group who actually INVESTS in its team, it’s players, and it’s future. And if we’ve learned anything from the past few months of negotiations, the sport could benefit greatly from better ownership across the board.

Now they make a big splash with Mookie Betts extension 🔥🔥
I love the Boys In Blue !! Go Dodgers !! Die hard Fan For Life !!!!!
Watching this from England since LA Dodgers owners are linked with buying Chelsea FC
I may be a Dodger fan but I'm also a fan of a hockey team (Kings) that is a lot like the SF Giants - bad now, but multiple random title runs earlier in the decade. I'd rather have what the Giants had.
Well You can scratch of that World series title now!
I want to see the money comparison in regards to the success of ownership
Tldr: money, large market
