I totally agree. I used both and find out I don't need SP. Blender Shader Editor are more powerful!
    - SP have Library: You can get more, procedurally, both free or paid on Blender Kit or Blender Market or Polygon, etc
    - Mask and Stencil: Blender have it all, though I prefer Anchor Brush
    - High Quality Baked: Simply pick better format like .exr and increase render samples
    - You don't need Substance Designer, because Blender Shader Editor already there
    - Full Control: You want to paint on 8-bit or 32-bit Texture? Your choice!
    - One map can control all: yeah, that's basically a Mask! Colors, Normals, Roughness, Metallic,... can be control by 1 non-color texture map or a procedural mask
    - Layer-base system: Just use the Mix RGB node. More than that, in Blender Shader Editor you can easily understand what's underneath the layer system, and can make any more complex adjustments if needed.
    - Metallic Baking: Yo! Just plug the Metallic mask into Emission Shader Node, Set Strength at 1 and Bake Type are Emit, you will have Metallic Mask, or any other mask using the same methode (like Transparent Mask or Coat or Sheen,...) because at Emission Strength 1, the material are Shadeless!

Same, I choose to stick with Blender because I know they plan to make it even better and I'll already have a head start.

Yeah, there things SP does super well like mask, dirk, but I've u want something simple and quick blender is enough

I'm rooting for Blender with my both hands and feet, but currently any serious texture painting in Blender is still a dream. It lacks multi-channel painting and layers - two crucial elements for quality and speed. Yes, you can make contraptions, but Blender is just not there yet. Take map baking even - see how SP bakes 3 versions of AO and curvature map taking advantage of all three channels in the map? How are we to replicate this in Blender? Right - manually, which will take time to set up and test. And this is time, sometimes a lot of it

True, it lacks alot in many ways, especially when it comes to maps, like cavature maps for generating warnout edges and other details, also the lack of generators like ground masks, dirt and more is a problem, if u want to do serious texturing Sp is king, if u want something quick like what I did in the video blender is usually enough

Blender is not a powerful texturing program it sucks at the moment. His shading capability are strong but don't confuse the 2. If you try to directly paint something in blender good luck to get more than an hand painted look. It doesn't have stencils. Masks etc.. shading networks on the other hand are powerful

Which Version of Blender are you looing at?
I've got a potato Pc and am using Blender 2.93. Texture Paint does have Stencils listed under the Texture Mask option as well as the Masking option... and yes you can create masks for it. Is it as good as Substance, probably not, but for painting it's pretty functional, generally speaking.

      Have you tried 4.3?

Yeah blender has stencils and masks, I think what he meant was the generated procedural mask SP had

Can blender warp a stencil like in Mari or can have a dynamic stencil like in painter were you can flip the direction or the stencil mask with a drop down menu. Don't get me wrong blender is an amazing software in his material network but texturing it doesn't have the same user experience. Is harder to add layers and effects. You have to rely on the shading network and bake the results if you need to store it in Udim/texture set you can still do it but how unpractical it is.
