Hey Trev! I think the reason that your speedometer stopped reading out your speed was because your pitot tube froze over. It is used to measure the airflow around the aircraft, giving you your airspeed. To avoid this in the future, you can turn on the pitot tube heat switch which is located near the light control panel, it has a little green cap on it. Great video as always!
My exact thought! I know incredibly little about planes in general but that was common sense to me. I figured it had to do with some intruments freezing up
@@TmarTn2 Another thing, the magenta line and the blue boxes do not line up, trust the magenta line and not the boxes. When you put the autopilot in NAV mode it will follow the magenta line.
Per your comment “they probably don’t want you using autopilot on a test” comment-when you checkride for a new rating you’re expected to be an expert of all things on your plane. If autopilot is operational the examiner is supposed to assess your knowledge and ability with that unit. My students all use the AP above 1000 AGL on all rides to show their knowledge and ability of the unit.
Trev, that "green thing that looks like a plane" Is your prograde vector, Shows you where your plane's current velocity is heading forward. Very useful for landings
Hey Trev, if you pull up your EFB, hit that first icon on the left tab, at the bottom hit “File Plan With ATC”, that should align the blue guiding boxes with the file plan (purple line). Learned this when the blue boxes had me fly right into the side of a mountain
23:45 your heading wasn’t reset to SMIAM!!! Constantly check your desired alt, desired climb rate and heading, you don’t have to follow the blue boxes in the air until your nearing the runway, by then they’ll be helpful in lining up properly
Been doing a lot of these missions, the planes nav and the blue boxes aren’t perfectly the same but they both get you to the destination and you don’t loose points for not flying in the boxes. I trust the nav over the sims boxes and i can use autopilot. Great vid btw i love this series ✈️✈️
for AP also, the FLP is set to your destination, what you wanna do is open your tablet, and go into your FLP, and manually enter your route, the only thing it seems to not do, is your departure. so next time go on you display on the right bottom buttons go to FLP and enter your waypoints
That ending was hilarious 😂 ATIS talking over on repeat, icing conditions, heavy cross winds, “off runway” landing, user error G1000 usage, all in a flying golf cart.
You're right, you are not supposed to get the stall warning at the end, if you are going to do that in bigger planes you might risk breaking the landing gear or at least some tires, i've seen you do that a couple of times, it's because you're coming in from too high and then losing power to quickly, when you're lowering your speed you wanna pitch down at the same time to keep your air speed up because if you don't you're gonna lose airspeed very quickly and then come in too slow.
Hey Trev! If you find yourself having a hard time holding altitude or climbing in a small plane like the 172 you can try leaning the mixture a little bit. As soon as you reach an altitude of 3500 ft. you can reduce the mixture inch by inch and watch how your RPM reaches a higher value. The mixture is essential for a perfect combustion with the surrounding pressure. Love the vids as usual!
@02:35 you usually want to intercept at a 45° angle you were almost at 80~90° there. @12:20 that's wrong. if u're offline, you don't get passive money from planes with crew. Only when you fly they fly too. @23:45 ROL means roll if I remeber right, and that basicly keep wings level and can be used with other modes like VS @27:20 you can see that it's -5°C, what is happening to you is called ICING xD you need to turn heaters on for pito to get back your airspeed... hopefully the temp went up aroune 4° so the ice melted.
@@I.am.not.in.your.house.or.am.I we couldn't find the details of how they money is calculated. but you get the amount once every day. You just need to make sure that all the parts of your plane are in the green (no yellow or red) for that particular plane to start generating money for you. Overall, the money you get is aligned to the price of the plane, you can expect an A320 to earn you 100 times what a C172 does.

Love your videos, you are beyond amazing at what you post, you always help so much in this life, keep up the amazing work, really enjoy this series, Aviation is always love ❤️
By the way you are supposed to follow the compass built in your planes instrument. But I do recommend if you are confused then be near the blue lines but try following the compass. Also the compass changes when an airway changes so the auto pilot isn’t being weird. Great vids man! ❤
If you're doing an instrument approach you can configure (to flaps 10 degrees) half a mile from the final approach fix for a non-precision approach and when the glide slope touches the first dot above the middle on a precision approach. Then you bring it in at 80 knots until you see the runway in which case you land at your normal speed :D as you get closer to the runway on an instrument approach the deflections on your glideslope and localizer will get more sensitive so you can correct with smaller corrections incrementally. And if you're hearing the stall warning horn just as you are about to touch down on the runway that's actually perfect, it shows you're holding off the plane as far as it will go before landing.
The radio thing may not have been a bug. You can tune to multiple radio signals at once, for navigation, communication, etc. There are ATIS radio channels for larger airports that constantly broadcast their weather information. If you tuned to two different ATIS radio channels and didn't mute one or both of them, I could see that causing what you were seeing.
@@TmarTn2haha Yahp, there should be a switch labeled “pitot heat” and should be used when the temperature gets to 40f or below. Also the autopilot is working, don’t get it confused with your heading set.
Trev, do not use vertical speed mode when climbing, only use it for descents. Use flight level change mode instead and bug your altitude and the airspeed you want to hold in the climb. If you use vertical speed mode in a climb you run the risk of stalling due to the aircraft continuing to pitch up to maintain the selected vertical speed. Great video as always!
This is the easiest test to pass. Just flick on the autopilot, the nav route is already programmed into the system. Once you have captured the localizer, switch to approach mode. It will capture the glide slope and fly you down to the runway, Once you are down disengage the autopilot and flair for a good landing. You are allowed to fly VFR and use Autopilot at the same time.
Hey Trev! Make sure to just fully service the plane you just bought (I know it's a lot of money that's going to be spent) but It's required after the harsh passenger flight you just had a mini heart attack with lol. It could be beneficial for passenger satisfaction and be better to have potentially lesser threats during a flight. Sometimes the overall condition of a part may be deemed 'GOOD' by the game but in reality sometimes it maybe worsen for individual components inside that part so a full service (or at least90% health) would be good for the plane, other than that, we rest our confidence with pilot Trevor Martin!
Hey - the arc over the horizon, what you labeled as pitch is actually your roll. The scale the yellow arrow is moving against is your pitch. Secondly, if you can get a Caravan (Cessna 208), for both VIP and Cargo, you ought to be good for awhile as it’s a great aircraft and is used for both purposes around the world.
That tiny little magenta diamond on the top of your HSI is your wind correction angle btw, it basically shows you where you need to point your nose in order to stay inside of the heading you have bugged with the blue square on the HSI.
Good day Trev. Yeah your pilot tube Frozen up. Remember when decending from higher altitudes especially on colder days to turn the pitot heat on to avoid it. Also when climbing higher always come back a bit on you lean mixture.
should have switched over to approach for autopilot to control your descent on the ifr test. For fuel mixture, you can figure it out by looking at your RPM gauge and find the high midpoint - where when you move it either way RPMs fall - keep in mind that point moves as you gain or lose altitude.
What a great video! With your newly acquired IFR license, you should also check how to set your maps topography to "Relative". It's gonna save you from cloud covered mountain peaks in the future!
Hey Trev when you are flying the cesna 172 you want to touchdown at exactly 65 knots to get a smoother landing because you are going too slow and your plane is stalling out and its pretty much just droping out of the sky onto the runway making it rough
he Trev. for landing don't change the flaps while decending(decreasing). i keep them alsway's on a stage 2 (20degrees) when landing. and when i have alot of head wind just at (stage 1) 10 degrees dont decrease them while going down
I almost always use just [AP][HDG] and manually adjust headings degrees to match the map route. However, I think flight director [FD] might be what you want to follow the planned (VOR/waypoint) route.
When you're high up in altitude, you're going to want to pull back your mixture lever a little to lean out the engine, that will give it it's power back when you're climbing to altitude, same thing with your Skydiving video too lol! (Take it from a real pilot who learned this the hard way) lol!
You need to learn about pitot heat. You have to turn it on in colder weather and/or higher elevations. It’s the green switch below your lights. Now try again
