  • This is a slightly longer compilation of clips from my dashcam recorded this week. The purpose is to highlight certain dangerous behaviors that we see on roads by even well educated folks. As I learn from my experiences (am no perfect driver), think this will serve to remind people to be nice to fellow drivers and also drive safely on the road.

    @5:20 in order to cross on that X road, what is your suggestion to that blue shirt bike guy?

    • @ashwinsmr
      @ashwinsmr  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, I was pointing out the first guy in blue shirt who stays on left lane and makes the drift all the way to right of the X. I realize that there is another two wheeler with a man in blue shirt making the lane change to go left with hand signals too. For the first guy - Suggestion is more common sense. Change lanes early on, and keep the indicator on.

    @0:55 why can't you speak about the white fortuner also? that car is slowly dragging like tortoise and he is not at all bothering about his behind vehicles.

    • @ashwinsmr
      @ashwinsmr  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a left turn (for the vehicles in the opp lane) just behind me in the video, and being a one way, there are lot of wrong side drivers coming in the opposite direction. There is also a hospital on my left, which has lot of cars that wait for parking spot. Maybe the Fortuner was slowing down for either reason. But yes, you are right in saying that it was holding up traffic.

    Criminals became rich & hence no discipline. No law against those who honk unnecessarily & shout vulgar words which might cause heart attacks while driving

    • @ashwinsmr
      @ashwinsmr  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Boss, the catch is no one will agree on when a honk is necessary or unnecessary in the Indian roads context. In this particular video, no amount of honking or vulgar words (I didn't use any btw, cocooned in the AC car :D) would have stopped this idiot from driving across the road like that.

    School kids jumping the median is common, but terrifying for noob drivers like me 😢

    • @ashwinsmr

      It should terrify anyone behind the wheel. Kids pick these bad habits from seeing their parents and older kids.

    I feel there is a urgent need to follow and make them follow the law now more than ever, as India's economy is growing very fast (means more vehicles on the road - which is same for more than couple of decades) . I still have a high BP situation even when i think of driving in Chennai particularly during morning school hours. this is a huge topic and its connects to self discipline in each aspect of public life. !!! even when i drive in speed limit i am forced by the person behind me to go fast , even they would scold me for going slow. same when i stop at a no traffic red-light - the cars or vehicles behind me would start honking or scold me for not cutting the light. even after 10 years i am not getting use to it - every tie i feel like i am among criminals who are forcing me to a party to the crime ! I am not saying i am perfect - but when i make a mistake its unknown , like in this video people are commiting mistakes without even realizing its a mistake. I have had incidents where people argue with me when they drive in the wrong side and called it my mistakes..... no law , no self discipline, no respect for other people in road , ....in the end i don't think we will have humanity towards others.

      The problem is never the rules or lack of enforcement. It is the people, first and foremost, and their lack of common sense and empathy towards others on the road.

    I'm telling you, driving in Chennai literally depletes about a quarter of your lifespan. This video shows the necessity of getting a dashcam. Brainless auto drivers can go to the boiler room of hell. Nice Vid btw. waiting for more since I can relate to the experience lol.

      You can say that again. Had a close shave with a rogue bus driver today. Posted that video as well. We can handle the traffic if only they were just 50% more abiding the rule s and simply showing courtesy to others on the road.

    Welcome to Chennai 🙂
    This is common, especially during peak hours. I don't support it but you will get used to it. I've had my scary moments too for first couple of days.
    But yeah, simply 'complete chaos'.

      Even bikes are becoming a lifestyle necessity which is bad, people should use bicycles and public transport more.
