I like my Akai and Native instruments hardware and software, but this looks like something I would enjoy. I love the mobility of it, it's pretty genius!
as someone who found an old electronic air powered chord organ while thrifting as a young guy and spent 100's of hours lost in it as a bedroom song-er, this is a genius piece of inspiration/song writing hardware. My youngest sister picked up guitar a few years ago and just moved off to college and I'm 99% sure this would be the perfect gift for her to get lost in the beauty of chord combinations that I explored in a cold dark basement on that thing, but in the comfort and space of a dorm bed and with the privacy of headphones. I'm surprised no one's done it sooner. This isn't a synth, it's a tactile interface for exploring the relationships between notes. I can't wait to get it for her, I see the vision and I love it. I'm not sure if many else will but 05 fuck em.
I love to watch videos and try to imagine the ways in which people manage to be negative in the comments. That's where the real creativity lies these days. Love the concept. It looks like a lot of fun.
Having seen the full demo video, this is exactly it. It even has a bunch of actors pretending to be mysterious and moody musicians just like the BS unison ads. This won’t replace knowing stuff, and the majority of people who buy them aren’t going to be able to write amazing stuff just because they have one
I thought the same. Stacking chords amazing. And a one hand keyboard. Sand it looks like the corded TV remotes with 13 buttons from the 70’s to change channels without getting up to walk to the TV dial. Life is so simple now. They just need a pedal to send CC’s
So it’s basically like a synth autoharp/omnichord, but I guess you can customize the chord buttons on the left with a chord of your choosing/create the chord on the right, and then you can solo on the right whilst playing a chord on the left? I wouldn’t really call this very innovative, but it’s kind of interesting. We need to see a breakdown video vs these teasers
To me it looks like a $500 (or more) box that does what you could do with, say, cubase chord pads and a $50 korg nanokontrol. I mean it's a 3d rendering with sound that might or might not be from the "instrument" in question, so we really can't say for sure. Except that the price tag will be hundreds, that's pretty certain.
It looks like the buttons on the left select the chord type (they're labeled as such) then the keyboard is for selecting the root note of the chord. Like a Kordbot, but with less chord types.
Oh snap! I had exactly this same idea about a year ago! Much more inspired by the accordion, but effectively the same idea, especially with the extension buttons. (Though my layout also had an Aug button) Cool to see it implemented in a real product!
For those in awe and excitement: you can play chords on any keyboard by simultaneously pressing multiple keys. Just sayin'... Cool looking keyboard, though, pity it only has one octave...
But this has a display that shows you the chord. Ground-breaking stuff! Jokes aside, I can see why people would want one. It's portable and you can quickly come up with chord sequences and variations no matter where you are. Like a modern Omnichord, but different. I wonder if he got the idea when Suzuki announced the re-release of the Omnichord.
It's great for musicians who are lazy or short on time. Might even teach people chords by essentially letting them play with their sounds and compose, then eventually learn them on guitar or piano to be able to play their songs. Yet another tool to add to the already oversaturated music world. But if it's fun hey whatever.
Looks like a lot of fun so please please please think global and launch at least to the UK as well as US. I dont mind the shipping and duties etc. Go global before Behringer clones it!
So basically a very limited one octave chord organ with a few goofy effects. I could just get a magnus chord organ at a thrift shop or any basic keyboard now and play one button/ note chords. My Casio keyboard from the 80s can do this and it's actually playable.
I love comments like this where you guys act like you genuinely care about disabled people but you ignore the already wide variety of available products lol it's 2024 not 1913 this specific device isn't a gamer changer you guys literally uphold anything new and shiny as subversive and innovative boy sit down@@Sneezus420
Big mistake that I ended up here... Now I have to wait a whole year... or more. I can't let it happen that easily. Kevin was right. The less I know, the better.
Lotta ding dongs in here. The buttons on the left select the chord type. Looks like diminished(?), major, minor, suspended, augmented(?), minor 7, major 7, and something blurry. The 1 octave keyboard is to select the root note of the chord. That's why it's only one octave.
This would be SO useful in writing songs! I know the basic chord structure. Eg C Am G D etc. But this looks like it lets you experiment with all the flavours of chord variants without actually needing any knowledge of musical theory! Just cycle through the different chords in your key like Amadd9 Fsus2 etc etc until you hear one you like. Then play that pretty version of the chord on your chosen instrument instead of the basic chords. Song immediately elevated. I want one.... A lot!
There's a lot of cheap software that would let you do this already, with any keyboard (or even your QWERTY). Still, I do like the 80s home computer aesthetics so I understand wanting to own one. [edit] $549 no i don't
Imagino un futuro no muy lejano, a este teclado conectado con una herramienta de creación musical impulsada por ia como SUNO o UDIO. ” The arranger ia”
I could see this as inspiration for vocals or for finding a melody for a track. Very useful for playing along to a track that just needs a lttle more to finish it up.
Does it sample, slice, timestretch and have more than a 16 step sequencer? When is the new firmware coming out with all the request we've been asking for?! We needed Polyphonic aftertouch, MPE, cook my dinner yesterday. Why does it cost more than I can afford? 😭
Wouldn't it be hilarious, if it was a rompler? No external sequencing capabilities. Only recording with the onboard keyboard (seeing no midi in either).
this looks so cool
It looks a bit like a fully electronic auto-harp to me
But can you connect pedals to it?

The Launchkey MK4 midi keyboard also has something similar, with chords mode.
yeah, the korg keystage also - which has the poly AT from ASM...
Pretty much ever midi controller does. While also costing only a fifth for smaller ones.
Akai also has a chord mode in mpc
