Very cool. I somehow never noticed how much movement this bass line has. Very tasty.

Definitely has more of an early rock and roll feel than is usual in this kind of music. A very good bass line for a beginner.

Mark Mendoza has some creative basslines buried in the mix. Another great example is “Shoot ‘Em Down” from Under the Blade and “Like A Knife in the Back” from You Can’t Stop Rock ‘N Roll.

Yeah what's the deal with the producer and having Mark so low in the mix ? The bass is what makes women shake their asses and you're cutting it ?

Amazing!! The only reason why I can't really enjoy the classic TS studio albums is how little bass they have. If the bass part was hearble in this song it would be MUCH cooler, imo.

Good bass line and the VH-1 style commentary makes it more useful than a plain tab video.

Can I just say how much I appreciate having the sheet music as well as the tabs for your covers? I recently started playing bass after a decade of not playing guitar. Older me just likes working in bass cleft I suppose. One thing I wanted to avoid though was just learning how to play and read tab like I did with guitar. I want to be able to read the sheet music and see the music theory in songs. So thank you, the extra effort putting that in is really appreciated. Also holy crap add this to the list of songs that I didn’t realize had such a fantastic bass line.

I'm 55 and started playing bass when I was 15, so obviously I went to high school in the 80's and loves this album. The Animal is one of the best, and to this day this bass line STILL influences my choices of notes on original songs and jams. It's so expressive, busy, yet grooves and holds down the bottom. I always thought of Mark as the busy Michael Anthony.

THANK YOU... for all of these... I have an impossible time "hearing" the bass on songs... These videos have got me back into being a musician. We're having a BLAST. Karyoke in my home has been REPLACED by my pal and me dong full covers now... everything from Jazz to Funk to Metal. As long someone gives us 24 hours notice, we are ready for them.
    THANK YOU!!

I love the annotated notes!! For me as a bassists, I love learning HOW a bass line fits into a song. It's one thing to learn it note for note and to play along, but why are those notes chosen and what is the role of the bass in the song. Excellent commentary Paul. Thanks for sharing!

Lucky to see them Live for some few times, but fuckin sad, that I never see them again. This Bass line looks hard as hell to learn and play it!

Sick. I always see people hammering the E and just doing a 2-4 5-7 or 5-7 7-9 filp things. Excuss my lack of terms. I am teaching myself bass guitar. I was a drummer but fell om a rock climb and screwed up nerves and tendons in my leftside. Its almost like i had a stroke my left arms/leg droops/ lags behind and i limp now. I love music and will never stop playing drums all be it a slower music then metal. Theres tons of other rock i still play im cool with dat. But i tought myself a few chords on the electric/acustic guitar. Bass seems less complicated with less steings but ive come to find that like a drummer the bass line can be a carnival ride across the whole spectrum of available kit or fretboard. But i like a challenge. I downloaded this to watch on the road (parked)
