Neon tetras are a super popular fish and there is little information available as to how to exactly breed them. In this video, I show you how to easily spawn neon tetras.
    Thanks so much for watching!

I have bred Zebra danios. I had a small tank that i put marbles in the bottom, then lowered the water level in. put several females and several males. The eggs fall down between the marbles. for infusoria , i poured boiling water over lettuce, then pouring the water only into a jar then sitting the jars in the sun

Breeding neon tetras always seemed like some kind of imaginary occurrence like they just get shipped to aquarium stores but nobody actually breeds them they just appear out of nowhere in the supplier warehouse 😂🐟 sounds like it’s easier to breed discus in a bucket full of ginger beer, at the North Pole in the middle of winter hahaha - probably much easier to breed neons in bulk but I’ve always wanted to try this one day xD

Good luck mate. Only person I know of who managed to breed them consistently had a huge setup. Tricky to get them to spawn. Interesting to see how it goes.

I found a baby neon tetra in my 20 long tank, he’s full grown now. He survived eating little microbes and detritus worms. I moved him into his own tank when he got a tiny bigger and fed him dry food. He, well actually she, is now with all the other neons, full grown.

Hello mine have bred naturally before I have a big south American biotope aquarium with 20 neons it was a black water tank with emersed tank growth etc and after I do a water change I like to simulate rain so the water I put back in is always a bit cooler because it's dechlorinated from my tap also the water is naturally low in pH about 6.7 and my tank water is 7.2 so some time after I noticed the neons acting a bit different you know swiming within the emersed growth and males chasing and fighting and then after about 3 days I noticed eggs and from there on I think the discus, neons and other fish had a feast....

Do you have an ammonium spike in he tank after adding water to peat? And how do you move fish directly from pH7.6 T 28C to pH6.5 temp 25 without acclimating? Are the fish stressed or is this a necessary part.

Thanks for your videos. I’m quite new to fish tanks, I’ve had mine just for over 3 months. I have 6 Neón tetras (4 males and 2 females). Every morning they are spawning in the community tank, without any conditioning. I can see them and the “eggs rain”. I’m not planning to breed them but I’m wondering if any of those eggs can survive in the community tank and I should be introducing infusoria to my community tank in case any of them make it. My water parameters are 6.8ph and temp 25C

To simulate fresh rain I've heard of people dropping some ice cubes in the top to trigger rainy season breeding response.. Not enough to shock the whole tank of course just so that the fish can feel cool water mixing in from the top like rainfall.

Cut a piece of wax paper and lay it on top of the peat moss before adding the water. This will eliminate days for the moss to settle.

I even got to see her release eggs a couple of times. Just wondering if it's too stressful for the poor gal? I have a 25L tank with these guys so can't buy more females without the risk of over stocking. :-/

I need help, can anyone give me a hand?
I'm setting up a planted Amazonian aquarium. The current fauna in this aquarium consists of 4 neon tetras and 4 albino lemon tetras.
The fish are all fine, but one of the albino lemon tetras hasn't eaten for two days and seems to be gasping for air. It swims very little and appears somewhat lethargic.
No other fish show any similar symptoms; they're all doing well. The water parameters are fine.
I don't want to euthanize the fish and I don't have a quarantine tank. Does anyone have any suggestions about what might be going on and what I can do to help it recover?

I have tried to sex them, using the slight bend in blue line method, (For the females) as well as trying to watch them fatten up. Is it seasonal to breed them or can the females, just produce eggs throughout? How long do you suggest I leave them in my community tank for, before trying to separate them? I will follow the methods you are using to put them in a separate tank, once I have determined that I have at least 1 female (will only have a pair in the small breeder tank or 3 at most!! Thanks..
