It's not really a new form, when you turn into a mindflayer you die. So that's not Karlach, that's a mindflayer with some of her memories (not all memories, only some) and a brand new personality.
I feel the Canon is always the player character becomes the mindflayer and kinda disappears into the world. Either tav or durge. Makes the most sense with durge. Only thing I Hate about a durge run is possibility of alfira dying. I like the Canon durge always scares her away and takes out his urge on the next bard that comes along
Doesn't really "feel" like karlach. It's a creature that remembered itself as karlach, but it is not karlach themselves. If you care about her, play her as the origin character then romance gale into godhood. That is the only ending good for.
To me, Mindflayer Karlach only makes sense if I am playing a Goth and am very much set on freeing Orpheus and ensuring a free Gith. Mainly cos turning Karlach into this form is kind of heartbreaking.
MF karlach maybe happy with her new form
but nothing can beat her emotion after Withers bring her back from the Hells

this one where she "gets" the blueprints is cool as well
