  • First Leg of ride to Potter's Bridge with some discussion about recent e-bike news. In this video I am riding the Eahora (Hedonic) Juliet.
In this video, the ride covers a portion of the Midland Trace Trail heading towards the current Hague Road, Noblesville, Indiana end of the trail. In the next video, I will be continuing on Hague Road to Potter's Covered Bridge.
Potter's Bridge is one of close to 100 covered bridges remaining in Indiana. It is 260' long spanning the White River. The bridge is 22' wide and 20' high. It is no longer open to vehicular traffic, but still remains a beautiful example of the Howe Truss style covered bridges.
The Potter's Bridge Park has some nice trails, but requires some caution as an electric bike rider. The trail along the White River is fairly narrow, curvy and highly trafficed.
7:33 Discussion of E-bike involved accident in Key Biscayne, Florida and other news.

    70-year-old, limited-mobility handicapper here.
    Wheelchair/forearm crutches on/off 25-inch seat height
on my "Hase Lepus" delta planform recumbent trike.
"Class 1" helps assist movement of my huge NFL-size body perfectly well.
Well over 30 years recumbent experience here.
"Class 1" only, may well be the answer, as per sampled in European laws!

It might be what comes. I’d feel more comfortable with Class 2 since it offers the throttle.
In the UK, they are legally only allowed to have a 250watt motor, so the 750 watts that we currently allow seems like a reasonable solution.
I have a neuromuscular condition that causes muscular weakness (paralysis) the more I use a muscle. So the throttle is definitely something I need.
How is it learning how to maneuver the trike?

Cannot get on/off owned tadpoles for 15 years. No balance here. Delta planform has suspension under torso and cargo, not tadpoler's knees! Rohloff hub and NEVER again cassette! Never outgrow a delta planform trike. Grow oldest on a delta planform trike!@@TwoWheelWanderer650

What they need to do is make helmets mandatory on bikes of all kinds. My cousin fell off a bike and hit her head on a rock and died with no helmet. It is easy to pedal 20 mph without a lot of effort. They make a big deal about bikes with motors but I can pedal 35 mph, on level ground ,on a regular bike. and no one complains about that. Bikes should be able to keep up with traffic as governments are slow to put in the infrastructure. Ebikes are not going to go away. Places like Vietnam have roads just for bicycles and scooters because cars and trucks do not mix with bicycles and other smaller vehicles.. Unfortunate accident but it is proof your brain box is not bullet proof. The autopsy will more than likely determine head trauma as cause of death. So if she was hit with a car would they ban Cars for 60 days?

The helmet laws are likely too difficult to legislate. There are several states, my state of Indiana included, that do not restrict motorcyclists to wearing helmets. I think we all would be better for having the requirement, but there are too many that don't want told what to do when it comes to safety. Hopefully that will change some day like it did for requiring seat belts.
I agree with speed. It is more a responsibility factor like in a car. Our cars can go faster than the speed limit, but we only issue citations for speeding and sometimes arrest for irresponsible or reckless driving.
On the Juliet, I have to peddle like a madman to get it a bit above 20 something, but I have definitely been on road bikes at much higher speeds. Indiana goes so far as to say that all classes of ebikes are only allowed on roads that are a 45mph or less. It sounds good, but it is pretty hard to find roads in the country that are less than 45. Nearly everything is 50mph.
We definitely have some years of growing pains to suffer through with legislation.
Thanks for watching and talking about this.
