- This video features an in-depth review of all the information I couldn't find on the Q20 and living with it day-to-day as a commuter. If there is anything you would like to know that I have not cover then post it in the comments.
The greatest honest review on TH-cam period.
This guy saw it wasn’t there and got it done! Good work! Thanks for the honesty!
Great review! Thank you very much. Just got one, enjoying it immensely. One suggestion, if I may, if you are planning to purchase an e-bike try to find competent mechanic that you can trust, problem solved, it may cost you a little, but you save a lot on headaches. By the way I am 73 and even to change a tire is difficult. Thank you again.
Sound advice. Ride safe.
I wanna say I had a horror story but also a blessing in disguise. Bought a ridstar Q20 48v 20ah, worked great but both inner tubes popped. Went to my local trek store and got them replaced and the manufacturer covered cost of inner tubes and labor. The brake pad came slightly bent so had to get it fixed but they covered for purchase of pad and labor, than rear hub motor overheated. Got that replaced 😂 ended up just wanting a refund but the manufacturer said to just send them the battery back. Sent me their label, went through Amazon support to make sure I got my full amount since they wanted to charge taxes on my refund. In all got my money back and kept the bike. Now I’m adding a 52v 24ah battery along with inner tube protectors, street tires and a twist throttle for less than what the bike was originally for 🔥🔥
Do you know what popped them?
Your review cited important observation as about the product. thank you
Thank you so much for this! You are the man! This was like the perfect review!!! Thanks 🙏🏽
My pleasure!
Great video! I'm waiting for mine to arrive and I really appreciate your highlights. Really looking for future updates on this cool bike as well as possible upgrades💯
Thank you for the feedback. Glad you liked the video. I wanted to answer all the things that I couldn't find prior to my purchase. There is more to come. Just dropped a maintenance video.

I need to know please what site did you get the bike from
Great video keep up the great work and I will be getting a q20 soon too so I will stay tuned to this channel and the great content 👍🏻
Thank you. You will love your Q20.
And also I was watching another video and someone got a extra battery do you think that would be worth it?
@YourFavoriteBlonde123 you have to answer that based on your riding. For me, I'm not having any kind of a range issue for my needs.
1500 kms on mine in a 11/2 months
Two 2-3 km long 8-10 % hills
20 km ride each way to town on one charge easily
Only swapped out the seat for mini
bike seat
Still have plenty of brake pads remainig
And I am 6'2" 230lbs
I found this to be an awsome ebik
Thank you so mucu for this detailed review. Its the first proper review I have seen
Thx for the useful tips & facts!! I'm pretty satisfied & enjoy riding my Q20 atm!! Btw, we need more of Q20 (underrated ebike on the market) vids fasho!!
You are very welcome. I have more content to come.
@@Ridstar_Q20 Subed and will be waiting!!
the mountains in the back are so aesthetic
Great and most in depth review of q20 I’ve seen. You mentioned the rotor is thick, do you know how thick it am trying to find the part
I love the video. All I wanna know is can that bike Carry 2 person at the same time.
Some people buy clamp on foot pegs. Max weight is around 300 lbs.
i drove 2 of my buddies to h mart so 3 people in total on this bike. it 100% can fit 2 people let alone 3
Well done...great informative video....may have missed but is this bike equipped with tubeless tires ? and did you install/encourage inserting puncture slime ? I live with the goat head issue as well...considering this Q20 as my first ebike moped style...Thanks
This bike uses tubes. I use a sealant, Flat Out. The best price I have found is through Amazon.
Good to know...Thanks for sharing...@@Ridstar_Q20
Thanks for the video 💯
You are very welcome. Subscribe for more content.
im 5 feet and i just bought it and i can fit it perfectly
would it fit if you are any shorter
It requires leaning the bike to put 1 foot down.
can u send me the link plz
@@gollygee23probably how short are u
I'm buying one of these so I hope its good
They seem to be pretty good bikes.
@@Ridstar_Q20 is there anyway to make it accelerate faster?
I plan on moving to Tampa and would use it to go to work and back which is around 10 to 15 miles I’m around 6ft 2 and just wanna make sure this bike would be a good choice and last a while.
Great review Thanks👍
Where can I find this ignition throttle for selling?
How do you connect the headlight wires fully?? I cant fully connect them and i see a yellow spot in between! Pls help
Nice. have you tested the top speed at all and if so what was it?
When the battery is full just off the charger, it will show me a speed of 32 mph. Once the battery has a bit of miles on it but still fully charged, it will consistently show 28-29 mph.
How is it in the rain? Or driving through a puddle of water.
Plenty of riders are out in the rain and one person I know of ran his through what was forming to be a pond. No one to this point has complained of any water problems. Ride safe.
What is the link for those break pads. Thank you for your content
I would join this group and ask. Ridstar is really pure garbage about being able to get brake pads. It's like a game, and you never know where brake pads will show up. The latest seems to be Aliexpress, but I can't find them. In the forum group, somebody might be able to tell you where they are showing up today.

can you do ride videos it would be cool
Sure, I can. I didn't know if there would be interest.
If you haven't seen it, I have my first ride video up, Ride-n-Chat. And an 8-second clip of my first crash. Ride safe.
For the price the 20aH or the 2000w dual motor and dual battery its less than 1700Usd its hard to find something to beat it on electric bikes that can beat its price range even with tire upgrades and suspensions upgrades
Got my h20 pro on its way
Just subscribed! Is there any way to put a basket on this? Thanks
hey man I got the cheaper 15ah battery version do you think it's as good to commute as the 20ah battery? so far the battery has been doing good 16miles too and from work but I didn't know I was getting the cheaper 15ah battery when I bought it. kinda rushed into getting it but oh well just wondering what your thoughts are on the cheaper 15ah battery
Sorry I missed your post. The ah amp hour gives you an idea of how far it will go. 20 goes further than 15 and 40 goes even further.
I'm 5,4 and is there anyway to put the seat down?
I'm 6 ft 250 lbs. What is your opinion on bike size. I saw specs of max weight 330 lbs. Would use for short commute rides nothing crazy.
It will be a little cramped if you tried to pedal it, but for what you want to do, I think it would work. Ride safe.
Hey, I got my ebike yesterday, but the headlight and honk doesn’t work, even though I plugged it in. Do you know why?
I assume the rest of the bike works? I would take the wire wrapping off, remove the seat, and trace the wiring back to the controller under the seat and make sure it's plugged in. After that, initiate a return which will prompt the seller to contact you and then you can pursue getting a replacement part. Ride safe.
Can I have a link? Nice video!
I just bought this e-bike on Amazon. Do you know how long the battery lasts?
From my research, I have read 700-800 full charge and discharge. With that, there are a number of factors that can extend or shorten life expectancy. For example, not leaving it on a charger when fully charged. Not charging it in the freezing cold. And there are more. Ride safe.
If you’re talking about how long does a battery last for one charge? You can go a while especially if you do a little peddling even though this bike takes a while to catch up for the pedal assist it doesn’t kick in right away so it’s mostly a throttle bike but even that that we ride all night long for four hours and my battery only gets halfway down. I would say you should get an easy 20 miles if you did nothing but full throttle of course if you’re in level five it’s going to wear the battery down more but if you’re in level three or something like that, you should be able to get 20 miles easily.
@scentualobsessions sorry for the late comment I'm looking for a good peddling assisting ebike would you recommend this bike for that?
I just got one. Quick question. I put the battery in the first time. I want to charge it by itself and when I try to take the battery off, it won’t come off. I followed the instruction. Do I need to do it with force? I don’t want to break a brand new bike/battery.
At first, they can be very hard to slide off. Assuming you haven't locked it in place with the key and forgot that you locked it, here is what I do. I lay across and on top of the seat with me left shoulder towards the handlebar. I place my left hand on top of the battery from the stood if the bike you're on. I then reach over the bike with my right arm and grab the battery from the bottom and pull up until the battery releases. My hand in top gets a bit squished when the battery releases, but it prevents the battery from slamming when it does release. Around 500 miles of user, battery being put on and off, it finally wore in and slides on and off easier.
Ride safe.
How much does this bike weight? Will it weight a lot to take it up the stairs?🤔
It's about 75-80 lbs.
On some bikes u have to put credentails on an app to get its speed. Is it like that on this bike or does it just come with 30mph capabilities out the box? Thx
Nothing to unlock.
Is the s866 display pretty much plug and play with the factory display? Besides the program settings
Yes
@@Ridstar_Q20 thanks Just ordered one
Ordered the 5 pin one. Didn’t work
Anyone know what communication style the display for this needs to be?
How is the pedal assist, can you treally pedal this bike. Other reviewers say you cant pedal it, is that true. I would like to pedal some.
Has any one experienced sitations where batteries explode or burst into flames? Im really hooked but very concern about this issue.
In the forum I belong to for this bike, no. I'm my research, they go up in flames when left constantly on chargers (unplug when charged), using other than the manufacturers charger, and when the battery has been tampered with. For safety, other than winter, I charge mine outside for the extra safety. I'm the winter, close to my door to throw it outside and only charging when I'm there. I also have a smoke detector in the room. They tend to smoke before they ignite.
No. Just use factory charges. They sell non factory quick chargers, which is where there is a problem.
I have this same bike I keep getting a E 08 error any advice on how to fix this the electric function doesn’t work now and ridatars customer service sucks
Que me recomienda para poder cambiar las pastillas del freno
What do you think is the minimum height for this bike to be comfortable to pedal?
The seated position is close to the pedals. I'm 5'6" and it feels like I'm sitting on a standard BMX bike with how high my knees come up. If you are tall enough for the bike then you will be closer than you need for the pedals.
Im 5’8 163 would this be good for me was about to purchase today
@VapoOPBR22 yes it would. But know the geometry is not meant for pedaling. It's there as an assist when needed for going uphill.
You could have put that fender backwards, if you need to commute it to work in the rain
What ?
Thats what l did with a similar situation just turned round, worked fine, the back endofthe fender just threw the mush back down to the floor because of the angle and rotation of the wheel.
ought the ridstar a couple days ago and it came charged. Now it’s close to dead and the charger doesn’t work do you know how I could fix it
You will have to initiate a return which will prompt the vendor to reach out to you. Then you'll be able to identify that the charger doesn't work in the vendor will replace it.
@@Ridstar_Q20 I have asked the vender on Amazon and I don’t know when they will respond I think it’s the charger thought the battery came charged and it rode fine for 10 miles until It ran out
@@yuvalbriller8115initiate the return process and that's what triggers the vendor to reach out to you because they don't want to ship that bike back.
thank you they have shiipped me a new battery@@Ridstar_Q20
How carriable is it?I live in the first floor and this doesn’t fit the elevator can I carry it through the stairs
Be hard, but you could do it. Would give it 7.5 difficulty. Prob hold front tire and pull.
carrying it through the stairs would be hell. i would recommend getting the foldable one if ur willing to
Hey where's the link for the brake pads?
I had pulled the link because they were out, but I found another vendor with 3 currently. Move fast. These are the pads if your bike is equipped with the two ears - see the picture.
www.ebay.com/itm/364591038876
would you recommend just replacing the calipers from the jump rather than dealing with the head ache of trying to find he brake pads later on@@Ridstar_Q20
I believe the best thing is to use the time on this first set of pads to find an off the shelf setup for future proofing the bike. I would look at brakes from downhill mountain bikes. Much more severe loads than cross country. Cross country brakes seem to be what I often see spec'd on ebikes.
@Ridstar_Q20 ok but would I have any trouble finding replacement caliper set or are the mounting points on the frame standard. I live in the Caribbean so it would be pretty tough on me if I ordered a set of calipers and they don't fit. I've been scourering for a video about someone doing a brake upgrade on this bike and I haven't found one yet. Might be a good opportunity to make a unique video on one especially because of the issues finding brake pads.
Quick question, do you think that 5,5 is too short for this bike?
No. Just means it's a little more work. As a fellow short person, just one of those things we learn to deal with.
could I still use it on offroad with a few tweaks to the suspension
Problem is that there's no quality aftermarket front shock.
Depends on the sort of off road, l mean a woodland track well worn should be ok, but crazy loose shale and gravelled rides would be a no no.
It doesn't have a battery overcharge protection so I am not getting it
You act like it such a difficult task to replace the battery
@davidray6988 Then you purchase my battery then....How's that??
@GHOSTLYWHISPERS no not happening I was just saying it's not a hard job shit My retarded sister can do it and she knows nothing about wiring or anything like that and batteries aren't that expensive you can get one on Amazon for like 250-300
@GHOSTLYWHISPERS plus it's not my problem that you don't know how change out a battery
@@davidray6988 Only an idiot would drop a bunch of cash on an Ebike only to fork out even more cash for a fucking battery. Just shut the fuck up dude
I mean the battery life. 1 year maybe?
With any battery, cheap Chinese bikes, or Tesla's, batteries are a crap shoot. Typically, a battery like this should be a 700-800 cycle battery. If you ran the entire battery out and recharged every day, then you're looking at 2 years. But Tesla's have crapped out at 25,000 miles, and those were premium batteries. Who knows, time will tell.
Thank you so much.
How tall are u
5' 6"
So its a win/win for me
What’s max mph
How fast is the 7 speed
33 miles
What happens if you lose the keys
exactly why you should make spare keys at any store, home depot, walmart, or target. takes like 2 minutes for 2 keys, one for the battery and ignition, and it’s 5 bucks
@@burneraccount.Some keys cant be copied due to working with chips in the bike system.
I didn't get a single damn key, so i don't know what to do!
Is it good for someone 6'3
Not really. Im 6' and cant really pedal it.
Yep get two as roller skates.,,😂
What about 6,1
Turn battery to left then pull .
Im 5”5, can I ride it?
100% percent, im 5’4 and it fits perfectly
I don't like that throttle at all it looks like that would be very uncomfortable
5,6 = 170.6cm
That bag you’re gonna get rid of is designed to hold a cell phone as well and keep rain and dust off of it would that not fit your giant Samsung and just find a way to secure it better ? the bag I mean
You're correct, the bag could hold the phone. However, the sloppy fit of the bag, the wear on the paint, and the fact a zip-loc bag is more waterproof are all reasons that the bag, for me, is not worth having. Additionally, at 300 miles, it already had two wear holes.
im 4/11 do u think i could fir on it
It will be tough.
@@Ridstar_Q20 would my feet be able to reach the ground
1 foot on a lean. Never two feet.
Im 6,4 and 159lb
😆, watching you pedal would be funny at your height. Enjoy.
@@Ridstar_Q20 thx and I’m not much of a peddler
@@Ridstar_Q20 thats why im buying your guys product
I'd rather pick up the Amyet G60.
That does look like a pretty sweet bike.
@@Ridstar_Q20 Amyet doesn't mind releasing their bikes fully unlocked.. one reason I like them. They have a dual motor S8 which is a badass bike..
I love the Q20 but it's an older bike at this point and should probably have a couple 100 chopped off the list price.
@jahbrake9791 the industry is definitely evolving quickly, but until this bike you showed me, I haven't found one that matches the specs of the Q20 for the money.
@@Ridstar_Q20 I agree! I've gone back and forth between the Q20 and the Amyet G60. A couple of weeks ago Amyet released a version 2 of the g60.. apparently upgraded controller, screen, different frame and rear suspension...
So the listing you see now on Amazon hasn't been reviewed yet...A few people have reviewed the original version which got me on the bike.
Get 180mm brake pad thats simple.
We Europeans really envy you Americans where electric bikes are concerned. This bike would be illegal to use on the roads here, without a licence, registration, road tax etc.. Essentially all the nonsense you need to ride a motorcycle
I lived in Germany and Italy for 10 years, they could find a way to tax and regulate everything.
Actually, it is illegal in Canada too. Where I live you are limited to a 500W motor and 32 km/hr (20 miles/hr). They really don't bother you unless you're being an idiot. Then it's an excuse to ticket you/take it away.
Break the law it's fun
I live in California and my bike it's considered a motor vehicle. They say my bike is a type 3 because it reaches 37mph.
2000W dual motor, so registration! Meaning tax oh and I need to have a license but my regular license it's goid
@@Ridstar_Q20is it at all possible you could do an in depth video on the ridstar q20 pro at all please as I'm looking at buying 1 of the ridstar q20 pro electric bikes could you also tell me if the 20inch x4 inch fat tyres are a tubless tyre or do they have inner tubes in the tyres also if they have inner tubes in the tyres can you convert them to run on tubless tyres with the tennis armour tyre liners 😊❤
They should get rid of the gears. Save money and weight, no one is going to buy this to pedal.
If they do it becomes an electric moped/motorcycle and other laws apply versus a being a bike.
You complain the entire time about this bike, you literally pointed out every little issue, if it's so bad then why own it?
@bobbob-hb3nc you misinterpret an honest review of every little detail that I would want to know if I were looking to spend my money. I would rather somebody tell me all of these things instead of an all is perfect and Rosie review.
Bro I'm 5,3 😢😢
You can still ride it, just know it's a little harder.
