why does it need a load? without a load it would be a short, but what does that mean for the resistor? If you put too small a resistor on, it would be the weak point and explode, but what if you put a high wattage rating resistor on with a low resistance? How do you know how much resistance is appropriate to make it a circuit, but not a short?
@@JinnaiT Diodes work by having a standard voltage drop across them. Say you have a diode that has a 1V drop, then your source voltage (Vs), minus 1V or Vs - 1V would be applied to the resistor. The lower resistor you go, the higher the amperage as defined by Ohm's Law (I=V/R). Diodes generally don't need much amperage, so a very high resistor can be used to minimize power going to the LEDs. The capacitor was used to keep the Vs more consistent, rather than mimicing a sine wave.
@@JinnaiT You decide what current you want first, in this case let's say 30mA since that's a good current for old school LEDs like the ones shown, and divide the supply voltage (minus the LEDs' forward voltages - ~3V each, so a total of 9V) by that current to get the resistance. So if you're at 230V AC you'd end up with (230-9)/0.03 = 7.37kΩ.

I remember seeing in a Pleasant Green video that there are a lot of courier services that send things to Nigeria just like we have in the Caribbean and South America. Obviously that's a much bigger and more well-connected country than Kenya but I bet they have something like that to send things through that means can be cheaper like it is here. My friend in NYC shipped me a graphics card during the GPU apocalypse and I only paid a few dollars US through the courier service. Lmao I thought it was a screw so I didn't care untily you pointed it out.
Dude, him waving that thing around like that made my stomach hurt. Even after he put it down I was so sure he would forget where he put it and set his hand down on the blade.
7:53 I was going to comment about the GFCI outlet installation 😂
Usually, you will install an ordinary outlet AFTER the GFCI outlet. Never before or it won't work and GFCI doesn't trip at all.

Video with oven exploding: “This is only the calm before the storm” Boooom. A shame they didn’t post the whole video
Suppose it's this one: /watch?v=EoMUUN1A_FI. Apparently they dropped a can of silicone spray into the oven. Very creative...

6:33 The cursed outlet adapter! I have one of those. It looks dangerous but fortunately only one of the prongs is live. The way it works is that the middle part rotate with an arrow indicating which prong is currently connected to the center. This is a clever device but it is unfortunately a bit cumbersome.
That customs rant was excellent. You're sneaking in good info again. What a great channel.

What an awesome impact you both are having!
Unfortunately I think electronics parts are taxed more than PC parts.

6:36 I own one of those adaptors. The prongs are not all live at once. You rotate the round part at the top to select which one to use. It doesn’t convert voltage, which is interesting if you’re a North American using it in Europe. Your phone charges a lot faster
