Working on an all original 1970 Chevelle SS with a 396/402. It has the short filter housing and filter but uses the plastic gasket at the end of the threads not the paper gasket up by the head. Have you ever seen that before?
I’m working on a 1991 motor home that has a 454 Chevrolet engine and a Quadrajet carb. The problem I am having is that the fuel keeps emptying out of the carburetor somehow like it looses prime. I put a new Wix filter in it and made sure it has the check valve and is in correctly, but I have to keep filling the bowl in the carburetor up through the vent to crank it. Any ideas? The thing has set not running for a number of years
I have an early 69 Buick quadrajet that has a banjo-bolt adapter in the front to convert the fuel line inlet from front feed to side feed for use on a chevy engine, do you know if you can use an internal filter with one of those adapters?
Thanks for the knowledge

What is your quadrajet code number? 1970 carb would seal to the outer surface.

You need to use the short filter.
Do the fuel filters need a check valve or will they work without?
They will work without. I prefer not to use them. They are very restrictive. Most carbs did not have one originally.
Thanks ! 88 Marine qjet
I cross threaded the inlet housing am i screwed
If it is early style, we can usually save it with a thread repair insert.
