Put the nylon seal on the threaded nut- otherwise it's hit and miss. Call out your wrench sizes as you're doing videos. You need a 1-inch box wrench and a 5/8 line wrench. Trim a quarter inch off your vacuum lines. Make it easy for the guy you're trying to help. He should be able to get everything in a bucket and walk to his designated work area and do the job. Don't change your Quadrajet it'll flow 850 CFM. It's a set and forget it carburetor. Holley carburetors are great when they're new and they're right out of the box and nobody else has played with them. Quick fuel makes good carburetors as well. The Quadrajet is a great carburetor. You make love to it one time- you can set it and forget it. Try not to piss people off.
Those nylon gaskets clip on the end of the fuel inlet nut where there is a ridge at the end of the threads. You lucked out having it seat properly as you compressed the fitting against it. Also now in current carburetor kits the nylon ones they provide are thinner than older issues and don't seal as good even being brand new out of the package. Just more sad signs of the times. Doing an intake manifold gasket this weekend on my 307 - previous owner put the fuel filter in backwards and the part that holds it was loose (not even finger tight). Not sure how it even ran and didnt leak haha.
I m having a mysterious problem with a QuadraJet marine carb, maybe you can help me. The fuel intake wont accept fuel, at the beginning I thought it was the fuel pump, so I tested the pump and is running fine, then I pour gas into the carb and the engine starts right away and runs until gas runs out. What I found out that I install a small 10" hose and blow thru to the Carb you CAN push air in it, I check the fuel filter and it was clean and no obstruction in the tube . Previously I had the carburetor rebuild so I think some one put some part wrong or in reverse or something that is creating this problem. What do you think.?? Have you seen this problem before?

Its an oldsmobile! Must have figured out how to start up and go. LOL
