I'm so proud of you (as a fellow teacher) because a lot of Americans who go overseas to teach (at least there are some here on TH-cam) just do a kind of half-assed job and have a really bad attitude. But even though you said teaching is not your dream, and you really want to be doing something else, I can tell by the way you prepare for class, and by the interactions with your students, that you understand that teaching children is a very important job, and that teachers are very important people in the lives of children. It's a serious responsibility, and the way you conduct yourself makes it clear that you understand that. I can tell you are a good-hearted person.
/sobs/ thank you so much Elle!!!! Yeah, teaching isn't something that I want to do long term, but for as long as I am doing it I want to make sure I do a good job. And I totally agree with you teaching children is such an important job- besides the time we spend in the classroom, my interactions with them outside the classroom is just as an important. Thank you so much for commenting, reading this made me so happy :3
Girl, yes! I have been in Korea for 6 years and it pisses me off to no end that some foreign teachers give the rest of us a bad rep. I LOVE my job and my students.
@@JLynnEchelon same in japan, if u say u teach english theres a really negative stigma attached to that because of a lot of lazy and badly behaved foreigners who are super unqualified to either teach english, be in charge of kids or both. But they think its gonna be some fantasy land of kpop or anime and everydays gna be disneyland (wherever they go) and cant be bothered to actually do a real job theyr getting paid for.
it looks like you and your coteacher have a good flow! i'm jelly, me and my coteacher just split the class in half and teach separately. it's nice to have the freedom but i'd also like some more support sometimes! teaching is hard. lol also, i was JUST thinking about using hand games like miss mary mack in my lessons somehow!
yeah this year my 6th & 5th grade coT's were very open to my style of teaching, so that's how we've been doing it! Yeah I definitely understand the whole support thing- at first my 6th grade coteacher misunderstood what I told her about how I used to conduct my classroom in my previous school- and when it was my day with her- she just would sit in the back of the classroom. And i was like.. uhhhhh... i think we should talk about it again... lol But now we've come to a good style of teaching so whoop. And hmm I'd say maybe making like a song or something? Song with the key expressions? Maybe have one student ask a question, and then the other respond? Instead of both of them just saying the expressions at the same time?
I died of laughter when the girl told u to check out wanna one's new song 😂😂😂 anyways... go check out pristin v new song called get it 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂kidding! but wow your relationship with your students seems amazing!! it seems like they enjoy your class :') also I love the choice of bgm, it really add momentum to the video! 💜
You're such a cool teacher! lol I used to work with high schoolers here in the US but I was only close with a handful of them and the rest gave me no time of day. Was always unsure of how to create a good relationship with all students since they're all so different.
Omg girl u are the real mvp, I don't know if I would be able to do it. But definitely you would be able to have a deeper relationship with your students, sometimes I wish I could talk with my students more ;; - ;; But that's great that you atleast were able to get close to a couple of them! ^-^
GIRL I loved this! You have such a lovely relationship with your kiddos who are super adorable. And I relate to this so hard - classes, rest, edit in between when I can, lesson plan, energy drained lol, and OMG U PLAY VOLLEYBALL TOO *hi five* Keep up the awesome vids!

Aw yay!! I'm sooo happy to hear that! Because when I was editing this, I was like.. how in the world am I supposed to make this look cool?¿ hahah But yeah some grades /my 5th graders/ just suck the living life outta me it's horrible. (And not because they are full of energy, they are just so noisy and out of control- my coT and I are like 🙃🙃🙃🙃😧) lol and thank you so much for watching Amber! ♡♡
YO' HOMEGIRL As teachers they'll always be that group that is more rowdy than the rest but at least you have the other cute years to balance it out 🤣🤣 You managed to make this video amusing and fun so dw haha, always a pleasure! 😏
Thanks for sharing this video of what it actually looks like in a classroom for epik programs. I know it’s probably not all like this but it gives me ease! It does look much more simpler than a normal classroom teacher position here in Australia! Makes me feel like it is doable!
This is amazing I NEVER EVER had a class this fun in elementary school or ever haha. So much fun and energy and engagement. Now this is how you teach kids!! You’re an awesome teacher I WISH I’d had one like you
thank you so much, I definitely needed this video, I’ve been thinking of teaching English in a foreign country for awhile now! (I’m very passionate about languages and such~~)
Your students are sooo cute!! And you’re so fun with them!! I love it. I’m like that with my kindergarteners and I feel like they try more and enjoy learning more when the teachers are relatable and trying to get to know them. Also I love that you call your students by name!!! I rarely see that and others typically say they can’t remember their names. I love that!!! You’re fantastic girl!! Killing it in that sailor moon pajama 😜
That's Adorable. One of my best teachers ever taught in South Korea for 3 years. He was amazing with kids, and was good at his job too. Most of the teachers I met that worked abroad, never really seemed like they enjoyed it. It warms my heart seeing this.
This is a perfect example of how teachers should teach a language. They should allow conversations and make practicing fun. In my school in the US, learning is pretty boring and teachers just make us memorize things. I am very happy to see that your students have a great time learning in your classroom! :)
I am a volleyball player and becoming an elementary school teacher next! Hopefully one day I can teach in Korea. I love watching your videos they are inspirational and fun to watch.
Oooooo they gonna love you!!!hopefully your school plays volleyball! I know some schools only do badminton ;;; Last year my school only did badminton too; because there weren't enough male teachers for a team. But back in my old city daejeon, my two schools were SOOOOOOO into volleyball!!! Like they were legit beasts at it! Which made me so sad when this school didn't do volleyball- but now they do so yay!! Hehehe. Also good luck with your app and the whole process Kate! ♡

hey Valerie, I have a video that addresses those things! It's actually the video previous video! So you can check that out to get a better understanding!!! Oh y graciasss hehe
Nah man these kids do not live a chill life. Most of these kids of these kids have to go to academies for extra SCHOOL- EXTRA SCHOOOOOL. So i have 4th graders telling me they get home at 10pm and do their homework until midnight. Some of my kids can have schedules like this: -reg school 8am-2pm - math academy: 3-5pm - english academy: 6-7pm -piano academt: 7-8pm And for some of them this is their reality 6 days a week. This year I only one 6th grader who doesn't have academy after school. 😭😭😭😭
YO' HOMEGIRL ahhhh i see! oh my gosh that must be terrible.... i wish they could relax like children... i’m glad you are their teacher, it’s obvious that you bring them a lot of joy
This looks like a lot of work but very rewarding! Right now I am going into my freshmen year of college for Spanish/TESL Education and I would love to do what you do! Do you have any tips or advice for me?
Oooh niceness!!hm tips? Find out where you wanna teach-find out what are the requirements and research other peoples experience in that same program / lifestyle! ♡♡♡ wishing you the best of luck chica!
heheh thank youuu~ Well I told my coteachers that I would be filming and they allowed it. Also every year the epik/smoe/gepik program has this video competition- and it always included videos of the students and what not- and THEY themselves upload the winning videos on their youtube channel. But I suppose it would depend on the school- some schools make you get permission from the principal and vp first. However, my school was cool with it ^^
What sort of system do you use with the balls? And also, how often do you see each grade/class? I used to see some of my kids 3 times a week but I also heard from a friend that she would only see most classes like once a week (twice at most). I think I would have preferred the latter but I did what I could for my own schedule 😭
just basically a point system- there are 5 prizes- obvs 1st place is the best prize- and then all the way to 5th place. So more ball = more points for their class. I only see each class once a week. My school is quite big, but I guess small compared to other seoul schools (my friend only teaches two grades 4 & 6 because his school is so large)
Maybe this is a coincidence but i commented on your q&a vid if you would do another day in your teaching life being a smoe teacher and then the next vid you upload is a day in my life But I'm chalking it up to my amazing powers lol
the pajama dress debate lol

This looks like a lot of work but very rewarding! Right now I am going into my freshmen year of college for Spanish/TESL Education and I would love to do what you do! Do you have any tips or advice for me?
Oooh niceness!!hm tips? Find out where you wanna teach-find out what are the requirements and research other peoples experience in that same program / lifestyle! ♡♡♡ wishing you the best of luck chica!
YO' HOMEGIRL thank you!
Is this a Fulbright?
Do u create the lesson plans or do u follow a guideline?
That’s really cute omg!! But are you aloud to film them and upload it to TH-cam?
Allowed*
heheh thank youuu~ Well I told my coteachers that I would be filming and they allowed it.
You look like Turkısh girl omg 😍💜
Do you have to come up with your own lesson plans?
Maybe this is a coincidence but i commented on your q&a vid if you would do another day in your teaching life being a smoe teacher and then the next vid you upload is a day in my life
But I'm chalking it up to my amazing powers lol
Hahahaha yeah i forgot to reply to your comment that it was already in the workss :3 but yes you still have magical powers :3
Do u need a degree or master in english to become a english teacher in korea
