I agree, you certainly explain well, I used to crochet with thread, crocheted curtains, doilies, etc. my eyes don,t permit me, so wool is so much fun, I enjoy your tutorials. Susan from Quebec
Hi !!! Thank you for your wonderful message and your sub, I hope you enjoy the rest of my videos that you watch Yes I am very dedicated and passionate about crochet
I just love watching your tutorials. I've made 4 of your hats in the last month!!!!!! This one is the next one on my list! Thank you so much for the enthusiasm, knowledge and skill you give to all of your videos. Can't wait to make more hats!!!! Cheers from Texas.
I just started watching your videos tonight. I have never subscribed to anything on youtube before....but I am so impressed and absolutely captivated by your skill, friendliness and passion for crochet. Thank you so very much for these tutorials! All the best always! Trina from Michigan USA
It's sort of reminiscent of a cloche hat. They were especially popular in the 1920s and into the early 1930s, it's beautiful. I will definitely be making this one. :)
This is one of the most amazing crochet hats I've ever seen! I' ve done this one already twice and my daughter says it looks very "British" :) Thank you for sharing that. Greetings from Germany
Thanku mangoflip5 You explained how to finish the hat with a very easy way to follow. My hat didn't turn out the way Clare's at all Thank you again for going into such detail. I really really appreciate because I was so confused with the instructions and it was hard to follow Clare as sometime she just says to make it so it will fit u but your left to finish the way u think it should look on you. Thankyou so much again Cathy24
Nice to meet you and see your face : ). I love this hat and will make it for my new daughter-in-law. Thanks for making it so easy for me to understand. I appreciate the long video so I can follow you to the end.
HI there no I havnt, you can use any flower pattern that is worked in the round Use a magic ring to start and only pull it closed so that there is enough room to put it onto a button Hope this helps
i see you crochet hook as clay baked on, did u do this, if yes do you have videos on it..? i was wondering if any watchers know do you put your hook and the clay case on it in the oven or take hook out?? i love your videos
i love this hat and have made it several times. I would like to make one and felt it. Have you ever done that and do you have any suggestions as to how to make the process easier? I know I must use 100% wool yarn and make the had bigger as there is shrinkage during the felting process
Yes and make sure its a feltable wool as some are machine washable and they wont shrink haha I think you use hot water, check it as it goes so you dont shrink it too much - apart from that I have only tried it once....hmmm what did I make ???? was years ago ! I would use a balloon blown up to the size head you need and place it on that to dry so that it has a nice shape
Hi Josie...well I did try. I used a bucket hat pattern instead as most of the felt hats I saw were bucket hats with a rim completely around the hat. The felting process worked and I was pleased however it was too small. I made the hat extra large but it shrank considerably. Unable to wear it so keep that in mind if you try it. Let me know
I watched this video over again. and when u thought u started without a increase, but then u looked back and saw you did, u actually didn't or I didn't see that u did. Did u make this hat more than once?
Hello, I really love your tutorials! But i wanted to ask which pattern I can use best for the beginning. Is it a beanie with double crochet stitches? Because you're talking about a link you'll put in the screen but I don't see it unfortunately. Hope my English makes some sense cause I'm Dutch ;-) Thanks in advance
my fault! I forgot to say "Got it", sorry. I misunderstood the part where you start counting from the back of the hat and I counted 2 to the left instead of 12 to the left and 12 to the right, it took me a few minutes to figure out it was not you. THANKS! you rock!
+Alyssa Grasso yes you can use continue using the same stitch as the hat or use a single crochet. if you want the brim to flare out around the hat you will do do an increase round or two. using single crochet will make the brim around a bit stiffer as well.
Maria Pennie Hopefully you can read patterns - this is a 3 layer flower very similar to Clare's, and if Clare doesn't mind me posting this link here, you can use this flower for now maybe! www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2011/aug/23/how-to-make-crocheted-flowers OR search crochet flowers on youtube and follow a video, there are many other similar on here. I'm sorry I don't have time to look for video links right now but I hope this can help someone!
Hi, I have followed you for a couple of years. You are GREAT. I am in the process of making this hat and needed a little help. How far down is the hat before you add the brim? If any one else on this comment page has suggestions, please chime in...Thanks

I was able to modify this pattern and ended up with a very nice cloche with an assymetrical brim. Thank you so much for all that you do ♥

HI there no I havnt, you can use any flower pattern that is worked in the round

a bit of both, i will add a link to the more info box under the video so that you can see hat sizes :)
thank you for watching
HI there, OMG I totally forgot to make a tutorial for it ! Ill try to get it done before Xmas :)
I think this would be really cool if crocheted in wool, made a little extra large, and then shrink it into felt! Voile, a real 1920's felt hat.
Hi there I have the mesh hat with the brim, you could make a normal hat in cotton and then add the brim :) Hope this gives you an idea :)
Love your work, please do a hat with an Asymmetrical brim
thank you for watching! ooh, thank you for the suggestion.
Very Nice Clare :)
I really like your hat. I was wondering what is the link to how to make that flower you used. Is there a video for it?
Did you do a treble crochet stitch, or a double crochet stitch on the hat before you started the brim?
Nice, I didnt actually watch the whole thing, but I know it will be awesome...I also wanted first. :D
I love your smile
i see you crochet hook as clay baked on, did u do this, if yes do you have videos on it..?

Thank you very much!
Hi, the main part of the hat is made of crochet :)
i love this hat and have made it several times. I would like to make one and felt it. Have you ever done that and do you have any suggestions as to how to make the process easier? I know I must use 100% wool yarn and make the had bigger as there is shrinkage during the felting process

Jeanette Stromp Hello. Did you ever make this hat and felt it ? I was wondering how you went on, I fancy doing the same.
Let me know
How do u know how long to make the hat. Is it your own preference or is there a chart for me to follow?
Thanks
Cathrin
I love this hat, but can you make it all the same length (not shorter in the back?)
Yes of course you can :)
I watched this video over again. and when u thought u started without a increase, but then u looked back and saw you did, u actually didn't or I didn't see that u did. Did u make this hat more than once?
I am making this hat in hdc. Can I do the brim in hdc?

Is there any reason why the brim doesn't go all the way around?
Hi, no not really, I just designed it that way :)
called Easy Pretty Rose Flower
Does anybody know how to loom knit this hat? Thanks!
How many centimeters to start the brim? Thanks
Hello, sorry about the slow reply, bit swamped in work here
I crochet until it reached my eyebrows, about 17 cm and then started the brim

What changes would I make if I wanted the brim to go all the way around. I'm a beginner
Would I just do double crocheted all the way across?
+Alyssa Grasso yes you can use continue using the same stitch as the hat or use a single crochet. if you want the brim to flare out around the hat you will do do an increase round or two. using single crochet will make the brim around a bit stiffer as well.
I like that idea also thanks
want want want

How far down is the hat before you add the brim?
If any one else on this comment page has suggestions, please chime in...Thanks
