Came back to this just today - so straight forward yet includes all complexities, you were the best and I know going on to do great things. I hope you are solving Gods flight controller PID issues up there, I'm sure he appreciates your insight, experience and communication skills. RIP my man
I want to thank you for your videos. I have been throwing out a question for a while now and no one has given me an answer. The question was about flight controllers having a port specifically labeled SBUS and in my case, running IBUS. I wasn't sure I could use that port. I was using an open UART. I'm getting my Flip 32 F3 Omnibus V2 this Saturday. Your series on the Omnibus has been invaluable.
With the Flip 32 Omnibus F3 V2 you can use IBUS and it does go on the same SBUS pin. Thats correct. Just know that IBUS, at least at this moment, only works on the Omnibus F3 and not the F4. But since you ordered the F3 everything will work fine.
Now can the cables provided be used read the voltage telemetry. They seem awfully thin?? if so, I am using a 4 cell battery. Where do I connect those wires? Do they get soldered to Vcc on the pdb? Also one would assume you only use the red and black omitting the yellow? I'm using the modded fs-i6 "10CH". So I do realize I have to go into the menu and set up the battery I'm using. Please correct me if I'm wrong. what would you recommend for the settings for Lo, Al and Hi voltages? Thank you so much for your help.
RIP man you didn't deserve to leave this world so early. You will truly be missed. So sad :(. I hope you know in the afterlife your videos will continue to help people in this hobby.
My youtube is on Autoplay.. and its Suprise me to hear your Voice.. i remember how you Help me alot in my quad Setting FS i6... R.I.P My Man... Blue Falcon Fly 4ever¬¬¬
very helpful video, i just have two questions 1: how do you wire the battery monitor to the receiver? 2: what makes ibus/sbus better than ppm? thanks in advance :)
I am unsure of how to get voltage in telemetry. Ibus does support it. Sbus might but on the forums it seems like no one has done it. Ibus and Sbus both are faster than PPM. Also PPM has more "jitter". You can see the jitter when you go to the receiver tab. The bars will be shaking back and forth.
there is other port on the back of the receiver (just below ibus port) and it has 3 wires. You just cut the yellow wire and connect + to + on the pdb and - to -. The last thing is to setup it in the transmitter menu
Could you please explain further. If you cut the yellow wire, then which is + and - ? And where on the PDB would you connect it? Surely this would fry it
Hey there. I was here 3 years ago. Did this fella die? Sorry, if so. In the start of this vid he says there is a binding vid for the X6B but I can't find it. I am totally new to all this and I am now 68. Wanting to give it another go since I have all these parts and radios etc.
I'm just waiting for this receiver as this is the last part that I need for my new season quad. Right in time JC! Thanks a lot for the video. BTW. It will be nice to see some buzzers video this is also something to concern 5V isn't a loud buzzer, 12v are much bigger something like matek bm3in1 is the sweet spot but hard for wire.
That last line, of just switch to sbus fixed me up, like so weird how ibus just doesnt work at all...but sbus good to go. Thanks a lot! Like I'm on rx1/uart1, I thought sbus wouldnt work but I guess on this controller it is the sbus port.
I haven't tried out any failsafe features yet but the Evolution have a failsafe menu where you can set up all your AUX channels. I'll give it a try soon.
On the MAMBA F405, you can connect X6B to SBUS (RX1) pad, RX3 (give up SmartAudio), or RX6 (give up ESC telemetry). There are 3 JST ports on the X6B. Check the pinout on the silkscreen - some online wiring diagrams are wrong!! Receiver was bound, I was getting telemetry, but no effect in Receiver tab. Took 20min+ for me to realize yellow/black were switched.
Out of the receivers I've used that compatible with the Evolution I like the one that comes with it best, but to be honest the X6B is just as good. The A8S is smaller, but the range isn't as good and has more drop outs.
Other than that not really. They are just different protocols, and both are faster than PPM. FrSky uses the Sbus protocol where FlySky uses Ibus. But apparently these receivers are capable of using both. But not all flight controllers and firmware can.
Thanks for the video, it's really helped me setting up mine, the only problem I have is I can't find a lead to connect this receiver to the board, is it a micro JST I need do you know. Thanks Chris
hey jc im having weird problem my fsi6b is all connected right as ppm in betaflight it turns on and is bound and i checked all uarts for signal n still nothing but it is the new rjx f4 aio
Hi! Very halpfull video! Thought i have done everything right, but i get no colorbars at "reciever" no matter, what UART i choose or i-Bus oder s-bus... any other possible sources of failure there?
I can't get IBUS working on my flip32 F4, PPM works just fine. I would really like to get IBUS working on this board. It was working on my cc3d atom fc so I know the receiver is good. Is there a resistor that needs to be removed or bridged?
JC I want to get voltage to my tx. If i plug the provided wires into the rx voltage port where to i do with the other ends? do I use all three or just power and ground. i have the beta flight f3 by the way. Thanks and keep up the videos.
hi mate , recently i got my first 1s brushless quad and im stuck connectig the receiver as the board has got no labels :/ the website says its a teeny 1s 16x16 , but i found nothing online , did you ever had some kind of board ?
Project Blue Falcon Can you explain why iBUS is better than SBUS? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've heard somewhere saying that iBUS is a SBUS clone. Thank you!
Hohmies Mcfly Santez Morrow so I bind my x6b receiver with my I6X TX and sometimes the RX voltage is disappears from my TX and then shows again screen pls help me did I made the bind not properly?
How are you stripping these wires? I'm using this same receiver and had a pretty hard time stripping the insulation without cutting through the thin wires.
Have you been able to set up the failsafe with this receiver? I have the failsafe in betaflight set to "drop", but when I power off my transmitter the throttle holds steady forever. Seems like a few others have had this issue with the X6b receiver. Do you know how to work around this issue?
Ha I thought I did. Went back and adjusted the settings and it works perfectly now. I'm using the Turnigy evolution controller and in the failsafe menu I turned all the channels "on" and to 0% and that did the trick. Sorry for wasting your time!
would you not be better setting roll, pitch, yaw at mid point and throttle at zero? then it should drop from the sky level. maybe even experiment with throttle at about 15% so it drops slower, less damage :)
another is the problem ... I have fs-i6s and x6b receiver ... they are connected ..but I can't not connect Funke to betafligt I can't not find the port
also I watched ur video on fried receivers where you showed how to power an x4r... very helpful, you're the man!!! but I've recently switched to the evolution and have several ia6b receivers that seem fried.. ;/ any tips for powering those??? thanks for all you contribute to the hobby bud, you are so freakn smart I've learned a lot from you... keep up the good work
I haven't officially tested it yet to get an exact distance but I have lost signal at about half a mile with tons of trees in between myself and the multirotor.
I can connect with my reciever, and everywhing works fine till i add aux channel. When i do, on arm everything is fine, but when switch is on the dead setting my throtle chanel jumps bewten 885 and 1000, and aux 2(with i use for armin) jumps bewten 1000 and 1500, with 0.5 sec betwen jumps. Halp. SP racing f3 with x6b reciever on IBUS. Help plz
Hi bro what about this when you're working on these boards full of components doesn't it worry you that it could give you lots of problems? For instance? Don't get me wrong here I love what you're doing I just want your opinion on this as I think it'll make all your components die earlier than they should! 😳😔👍 Electro Static Discharge is a subject that technicians are becoming increasingly aware of in the computer/electronics industry. Furthermore did you know that studies have shown that a static charge built up by scuffing shoes on a carpet can exceed 20,000 volts?
awsome vid but you drag on to much, definantly not a video tyou can have running as you work on your own build. to much skipping you talking about stuff that doesnt matter and could of been said befor you started showing us how to do it.
IBUS does work on the F4 boards. Watch here - th-cam.com/video/JjaPWTTmryc/w-d-xo.html

Thanks for the tutorial JC. Does this receiver have failsafe and if so, does it revert to no pulses or a pre-configured value?
I haven't tried out any failsafe features yet but the Evolution have a failsafe menu where you can set up all your AUX channels. I'll give it a try soon.
Ok thanks that would be great. I'd be really interested to see how it's done!
Gary Kalinsky yes it has failsafe. I'm using the X6B receiver in my holybro 180 pro with my evolution. Failsafe works and battery telemetry 👍
Tony Peart Cool... thanks for the reply. It sounds like a good receiver for the evolution. I look forward to trying it!

if u can review the FS i6x transmitter which comes with this Rx
Sorry but I dont have one those.
Great video! Answered all of my questions 👍🏽👍🏽🤙🏽
Very helpfull for me as beginner. Thanks dude.
Can you tell me what you think is the best out of all the receivers cheers

ive done this but the transmitter mode sticks in betaflight still dont move. It is also binded
Hey JC, are there any advantages to Ibus over Sbus besides having the endpoints already set up? Thanks

Thanks lot man, really help me with this video.
That was really helpful. thanks so much
hi..i need your help sir, how do i connect x6b to a spracing f3 acro?
How are you stripping these wires? I'm using this same receiver and had a pretty hard time stripping the insulation without cutting through the thin wires.
Nothing special. Just an exacto knife. I just cut a little slit in the jacket then pull it off.
I've been attempting to do the same. Guess my big meat hands will just have to get used to it. Great videos, thanks for you help!
will this receiver work on a turnigy 9x? thanks
When I do this betaflight says "failed to open serial port" and it won't recognize my radio. I don't know what to do.
Have you been able to set up the failsafe with this receiver? I have the failsafe in betaflight set to "drop", but when I power off my transmitter the throttle holds steady forever. Seems like a few others have had this issue with the X6b receiver. Do you know how to work around this issue?

I want to put a turnigy receiver on a rise vusion 250 but how?
using ia6c if I plug in my lipo and I'm ready to fly will it bind to another pilots evolution if they enter bind mode?

does the f303 v3.1 support ibus?
I haven't tried it yet
yes it does I have this FC but used it only with ia6b (working fine) and still waiting for a X6B from BG
Have you tested the range with this rx and evolution?
I haven't officially tested it yet to get an exact distance but I have lost signal at about half a mile with tons of trees in between myself and the multirotor.
I don't understand how a cable with only 3 wires can send the info of up to 10 channels from the receiver to the flight controller.
thanks man good video
