    Radar Omega is an excellent weather map. I think there is a one time charge of $8. Ryan Hall, Y'all is an excellent weather channel on You Tube. During bad weather he will be on for hours showing where the tornado is, flooding, etc. Be safe.

      @@liketheresnotomorrow I, too, use RadarOmega. It even shows warned tornadoes' paths down to the neighborhood level. You see a red trapezoid enclose the projected path. If you're inside the trapezoid, get out!

    Hi! I live in SC and the grab and go kit is not a crazy idea. We get tornadoes occasionally here and I keep a "tornado backpack" in my closet that is my safe place or shelter. I keep all of my important papers in there (birth certificates, immunization cards, SS cards, insurance papers, first aid kit, extra OTC medications, toiletry kit for at least 3 days, baby wipes, sanitary feminine stuff, flushable wipes, hand santizer, and an emergency contact list. And in a separate backpack I use it like a carry on bag for a trip. Extra pair of tennis shoes, clothes, socks and underwear. Each of my kids when they were little I would have a backpack for their clothes also and another with snacks, water, coloring books, cards, travel games...
    Thank God I only had to use them a few times but I was glad I had them! Oh I also kept a weather radio and flashlights and extra batteries.
    Good luck with your travels!!

    Being originally from Puerto Rico, I grew up around hurricanes, same for the last 21 years living in FL, even though you get lots of warning for them, they can change direction at the last minute, must always be aware. In PR floodings, mudslides and earthquakes are common too so is another thing I'm used to watch out for, now tornadoes, they do happen but are not that common there but I get lots of warning for those in FL, quite terrifying. And what about the sinkholes here in FL? No warning at all , yeah, those are the scariest to me 😵‍💫 I have 15 weather apps 😂 and even travel with my own weather station which I put up in the roof. Mother nature is not be messed with! So glad you all were safe! 🙏

    Gotta love spring in the midwest. Our homebase is near Carbondale in Southern Illinois. One of the first things we installed at homebase was a storm shelter. I think your storm gave us a tornado warning also before it crossed the river. Good tip! Always need a go bag ready. Thanks for sharing!

    Yep, find a shelter first thing when you get to the campground. Being from out west no tornado but floods are common. Now that we are in the east it’s different. Just go to the shelter, it’s a lot safer.

    Glad you guys are OK. We're in NC now where it's been raining for 3 days straight. It's a big difference from Yuma, AZ where we didn't see this much rain all winter. Thankfully, the wind hasn't been too bad. We survived Hurricane Katrina when we were living in New Orleans and multiple earthquakes in L.A., CA, so we're no stranger to mother nature's fury. This is a good test for our new solar system which is doing just fine keeping our batteries charged despite the bad weather. Take care now.

    Your video has been a huge amount of help. I never even thought about a shower house or asking where a shelter would be my problem at really stresses me out is I’ve got to figure out a way to get five dogs to shelter three of which are small, very very, very scary for meto be able to move as quickly as I would need to because I’m in a motorhome without a vehicle to drive

    I’ve had some pretty high winds lately. Wind at 45-50 mph and gusts up to 90. I did a little research and apparently a stationary RV, like my Class C, will not blow over until there are sustained side winds of 115 mph.

Go bag, base weather radio by Midland the antenna is better. Hand held isn’t as good with reception. Some times weather can change at a drop of a hat. Eye to the sky always. Hurricane season is June 1 through November 30, so you're telling people not to go to Florida during half the year!😂
    Definitely get a weather radio.
    Having grown up in Galveston and Houston, I'm a weather bug! I'm always checking the weather but having a weather radio on when the forecast shows potential serious weather is really helpful.
    Glad y'all didn't have damage!
    There was a tragedy in Arkansas in 2010 where no one had cell service and no warning about the flooding - campers washed away with whole families in them. Camped along the river was a death trap.

    • @liketheresnotomorrow
      @liketheresnotomorrow  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would just avoid the peek hurricane season, but awareness is the key for non-coastal people. You are so right on the weather radio.

    Not to say it isnt a scary warning or shouldnt be taken seriously. But if it eases your anxiety next time tornado warnings dont always mean one has been seen it just means there is a strong enough area of rotation to drop a tornado at any point.. they still want you to act like there is one on the ground.

    • @liketheresnotomorrow
      @liketheresnotomorrow  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there and thanks for watching. I don’t know if anything eases your mind when in an Rv when tornados are present or possible. lol Actually, the weather service says that warning means there “has been one spotted from the ground or detected on radar”. A watch just means that conditions are possible for a tornado. We lived on tornado alley for most of our lives. Either were nerve wrecking, but warnings are serious no matter what.
