As a professional contractor for almost 40 years , I’d say you did a nice job. No matter how efficient and good your job is there’s always a critic who can’t get their own work and always a buyer that thinks everyone is desperate for their work.Reality is very different 😂

I’ve got 35+ years in the asphalt paving and sealcoating business and you sir are an artist with that spray gun. I always preferred a quarter quarter turn to a California gun myself but it sure gives you good control. Nothing looks better than Gilsonite on asphalt. Great job.

One tip for doing driveway coatings, get yourself a pair of golf shoes, the kind with plastic cleets. You walk on the cleets and don't leave footprints. You can walk right across the freshly coated surface without leaving a mark on it, plus they barely leave a trace if you make a bad step somewhere on a sidewalk. Still good to use care, but the tell tale black footprints won't happen.

Used to do sealcoating asphalt the sealer we put down came from a plant that would fill the tanker up we added sand to it and a little bit of water also the sealer we used to spray down contain de creosote same stuff they use on railroad cross ties or they used to and when we spray the parking lot it was a lot thicker than what's coming out of the end of that that might hold up for a driveway but for commercial use I don't think it would last

This type of driveways doesn't need edging before spraying. It's a water-based seal coat that doesn't have as much sand in it as commercial jobs and works well in this low-pressure system. In some cases, a sand-free coat is used just to change the color before a sale. The grass will be fine. If you want the price to go up a bit, shielding the grass should be added in the estimate. For the quality of this house, I would have shielded the grass for free advertising's sake. Keep using that board, but use a thin one for curved work and cut out handles for more control. Most guys will brush a line along the garage edge for a tighter line. Spraying right at the edge of the house is risky and doesn't lay a perfect line without getting overspray on the house. The material is going down well and the hose management is much better this time. Remember, these guys are working on the clock and you get what you pay for.
