    I found that stirring with drill for 5 minutes make a big difference in getting the most coverage you will really see after about 3 minutes how the consistency of the sealer changes this make it easier to spread evenly

      Not true this is a Laytex product what do professional uses Ashfall emulsion or cold tar actually binds with the asphalt Laytex just coats the top After a while it will start peeling up asshole emulsion or cold tar does not I agree Sprey companies do not benefit the homeowner my company only sprays if it’s above 10,000 ft.² and usually that’s parking lots

    I might add that the Ultra Shield you used has a 10 year warranty if you apply two coats. This is what I did and it sealed my sloped driveway for 5 years, which is much better than my neighbor's driveway's that lasted 1+ year when a "professional" did the work with their materials. Also, I would recommend using a drywall compound stirring bit on a good electric drill to ensure the sealer is extremely well mixed. My 1/2 chuck electric drill did a great job of mixing for me. I also inverted the buckets prior to using, which helped out a lot. And lastly, I power washed the driveway and sealed all of my cracks with a sealer that is melted into the cracks with a propane torch. And, I used a thin patch to repair minor alligatoring. The Ultra Shield is good, but don't count on it lasting 10 years, and if you initiate the warranty process, ensure that you have all of your receipts.

    • @rosewoodsteel6656

      All I can say is a sealer that Lowes was selling, when I first did my driveway, would not apply their warranty to a sloped driveway. The benefit of the slope, is water will not pool. The negative is running water over time could cause it to wear. In my case, the sealer did a good job for 5 years. On the 6th year, it was failing, so I applied 2 more coats. @@sdoken

      In reality, there is no sealcoat that last 10 years, regardless of what brand and quality of product you buy. That's just a marketing ploy because nothing last forever. If sealcoat really lasted that long, the manufacturers wouldn't make any money.

      @@slimdude2011 Agreed! And I have an update on the Ultra Shield. Evidently the formula was changed (my guess it has been EPAed..). I applied in last fall, following ALL instructions, and it is peeling badly after only 5 months. The driveway was prepped and 2 coats were applied..

    I’ve done this a number of times myself. It’s not bad. However the price to have it done is not unreasonable and I’ve moved to that lol. The guys who do it for a living have it down to a science and knock it out so fast. Unless it gets crazy expensive I’ll gladly pass on this. But it’s a great diy project and satisfying once done. Hi Thanks for all the info. I'm not sure where you live, but In California they charge about $0.22 a sq foot. So In my case that's $2000 for 9000 sq ft, and if I do it myself it's about 800-1000 n(all in all 1000 dollars or more savings) in material depending on the brand you choose. Also, I keep reading nightmare stories about people using big box brand products and leaving streaks, flaking up...blah blah. Which brand did you use and how long has it lasted. I'm sure a lot of people put the latex on too thick and it just starts to flake off? Can you tell me how many actual sq ft you got out of each bucket, it looks to be around 350 sq ft. Thank you PS. looks like you are using that 10 year Ultra that HD sells.

    • @addismultitasking3504
      @addismultitasking3504  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Do not put it on too thick! spraying with water helps the squeegee slide and thins the material. 2 thin coats is better than 1 thick. Yes I use the stuff HD sells, no peeling, but most people think thicker is better...it just peels if its too thick. figure 300sqft per bucket

    Rather than sealcoating every 1-2 years, why not apply a good rejuvenator product. It will actually rejuvenate your asphalt looks-wise and otherwise extend the usable life of your asphalt and, best of all, it requires only one coat and will normally last 5-7 years. I have a 5,600' asphalt driveway/parking area. Contractors want almost $8,000.00 to sealcoat my asphalt with 2 coats that I would, in all likelihood have to repeat in 2 years. No thanks!!
