    My therapist said I may be autistic and I’ve been reevaluating my whole life AGAIN after doing it the first time when I realized I’m trans. Hearing others’ experiences w/autism, it sounded somewhat relatable. Hearing your experiences, it sounds deeply relatable. Thank you for sharing!

    Thank you so much sharing this definitely relatable at least to me I was analyzing my autism quite a bit last year just to find out almost every single part of me mentally and physically is autistic

    I just walked out of a job today from severe anxiety, and I haven't been able to keep work like a "normal" person. the jobs are easy, it's all social problems. I try my best, I really need work, but I can't mention process things and can't function normally. I'm suspicious that I'm autistic, but in the past I always "masked" well and it's getting harder and harder to hold up that front. it's not that I'm lazy, I really really care about whatever I do, but I can't socially function. the amount of makeup and perfection I strive for every morning as a trans person, also feels like a component of masking, and masking and dysphoria intertwine. I'm severely passionate about music. this is my music artist channel I'm commenting on. and I rock my head at night, and tap a lot which I feel is stemming. I'm in a world of a lot of feelings right now. thank you for making this comforting video

    There's a word that was said to me out of love when I was a kid that I came to hate, even though it took me a while to realize that I did: "challenges". My "challenges" set me apart, make my default relationship to the rest of humanity one of misunderstanding, and require me to work extra hard to compensate. They required me to hold back the essence of who I was for so long that to this day I feel hyper self-conscious if I suddenly start infodumping or stimming too openly, even if I'm in a safe environment to do so. But all that being said, I would not take back the thing that gave me these challenges for the world. I'd rather keep my own universe, and share it with the people who truly get me and love me.
    Also: I want to reflect your parting message back at you in its entirety. You're just...radiant. Physically beautiful yes, but with a strength and passion and love that shines out of you. I feel like we'd be great friends if we knew each other IRL.

    • @altairsjh
      @altairsjh 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      PS: on the off chance that audio textures can be a stim for you too, go check out "These Hopeful Machines" by BT. I dunno about you but complex glitch textures in music make my autistic brain SO. HAPPY. (It's why beatboxing is my stim :)

    Hi, I came here from questing refuge and I really appreciate your video. Please keep on going what you do. And it's fascinating to learn about the different autistic experiences; I am still deciding whether I am autistic or not - something I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to answer without a costly diagnosis. You're a great person:D Oh, a question (that you can answer in a video or a reply) is, what is your instinct when wanting to connect with other people? What do you think, vs what do you do and how others perceive your actions?

    • @nerdteacher

      Annnnd now that I finished watching, I literally felt like I needed a checklist? Because I'm sitting here like "I do that. Oh, I do that. And that. And... that. YES, THAT. DEFINITELY THAT." (I was diagnosed with ADHD years ago and have zero access to useful mental health services where I live, so I don't know how much is overlap; I constantly keep listening to a lot of autistic people and noticing a lot of similarities, so it just makes me wonder. But damn, I just relate hard.)

    • @AllisonFM
      @AllisonFM  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@nerdteacher Yeah, I hate that mental health resources in America are basically nonexistent, to the point where we have to rely on one another to understand ourselves. There's SO much comorbidity between autism, anxiety, ADHD, BPD etc. and it's baffling how few doctors or physicians seem to understand even the basics of things like that.
      Thank goodness we all have one another!!
