WARNING, WARNING, WARNING!!!!!!!!!! The first thing you do after opening the case is to pull the battery. The last thing you do before replacing the rear of the case is to reinstall the battery.
@@chakuututuu2241 The battery is next to the drive that was pulled and replaced. The battery is a silver and gold piece. 6 screws hold it in place. Three screws are thru the case bottom and the other are at the motherboard. You can see which ones they are because they have plastic legs from the battery case. Remove screws and lift the battery straight up. it may hold some resistance. Just be careful. When replacing line up all screw holes and make sure slots from battery openings and legs from the motherboard are in line...VERY IMPORTANT. When lined up push down. Replace screws on the motherboard. Replace bottom case and screws.
Do not use a knife to remove the rubber feet. Use a flat screwdriver or something plastic. I have cut the rubber foot, I have smashed it. Now I'm going to find a new one to buy.
Ciao filippo, anche io volevo sostituire l'hdd con l'ssd in un pc asus f556ub. Volevo chiederti se anche tu hai un pc della stessa serie e se hai comprato un ssd da 6GB/s o 560mb/s. Grazie in anticipo :)
You really don’t need a diagram since they’re all different. When you go to put it back together, pick a screw and drop it into one hole after another until it lands about a shaft width proud of where it should be when tightened down. That eliminates one hole and one screw, so the process gets faster each time. The two larger diameter screws are identical and should be obvious
Did you have any problems after installing the SSD? After installing one in mine, my WiFi speeds have dramatically dropped and I don’t know why. It is only the laptop that is experiencing the slow WiFi.
Do you know what model of battery is used in this machine? If you have any high res stills from this install, it might be visible. Mine is bulging and I need replace it, but I'd prefer to just do surgery once.
hi, my Asus F556uj (i7 8gb ram 1920x1080), died suddenly, no led light. I tried to remove the battery and put it back, but nothing. Could it be the motherboard?
Hello man, thank you for the video, helped me when i wanted to clean my laptop and i couldnt find there hidden screws! Do you know what type of RAM is used in our laptop? DDR4 or DDR3? Third-party program says DDR4 but im not sure, its Third-party program afterall.
My laptop model is K556U, the same with yours but with built in 12gb of ram. The internal components of my laptop is the same with the one you are working with in this video. I want to replace my 1tb hdd with a 2.5" SATA III SSD. My question is: can I replace my 1tb HDD with 1tb SDD to have the same storage space? Can my laptop support 1tb SSD or only limited to 480 gb and below?
Can you tell me that dvd drive is sata 2 or sata 3 ?? Because ssd will give its full performance on sata 3 as hdd is in sata 3 so I am searching for many days about it that is dvd drive side sata 2 or 3...
Please, *MAKE SURE THAT YOU DISCHARGE YOUR LAPTOP BEFORE DISASSEMBLY AND UPGRADING!!!* You do NOT want to get shocked by that thing. Also, ground yourself before working with it! You don't want to short circuit your laptop either!
You can't put an M.2 form factor SSD in this as this model doesn't support it. You can get more info on this from Asus's official specifications page on 556UQ here -- www.asus.com/Laptops/ASUS-Laptop-X556UQ/specifications/ PS -- Even I'm trying to upgrade my device's old hard drive with an SSD. Only 2.5" SATA SSD can be installed on this laptop.

Where's the small round battery for the clock of the motherboard?
The screws are different guage as well as length, so definately draw a diagram for your screws. (10 different scews)

I've read about WiFi problems with this laptop in its reviews. I'm not sure if an SSD would make WiFi slower. Could you post your SSD model?

Just disconnect the battery. Never discharge a lithium battery to 0%.
