Playing as the Mori, Yari Cav is a good compliment to Wako Raiders. Since the Kisho training allows them to follow Yari Cav to flank the enemy. And they cover each other’s weaknesses, the Wako Raiders can lockdown any spear infantry set to intercept the cavalry, while the Yari Cav can protect them against enemy cavalry.

@@TheVikingGeneral Does it work like a flat probability for any type of damage, so that a unit with 6 armour has the same chance of surviving an attack from a yari ashigaru as it does from a katana samurai (assuming melee defence has already been bypassed), or is the probability affected by stats such as melee attack?
@@TheBoxysolution There is no concrete evidence, but what's suspected is that armor works better on missiles than on melee attacks, but it shouldn't matter what kind of melee attack it is.
I'm not that experienced with matchlocks either. I'm also still looking what information I want to put in each matchlock themed video, because there is a lot of information to unpack.
So according to steam I have around 450 hours. But I remember that I once had the launcher accidentally running for 2 weeks while I was on vacation. So it's probably closer to 300 hours.
Great Guard are more expensive and are also slower on the battlefield, but they fare much better in prolonged melee combat and are better overal. The Spears will also beat the Yari Cav in 1 on 1 situations, but their low model count makes them very vulnerable to missile fire, and especially matchlocks. And of course, the unit caps which hampers their overall usefulness in campaign. But in battle's they are absolutely stronger.

Even though Yari Cavalry are technically samurai I still think they count as Yarimazing.
For yari cav upgrade armour as yari cav level up they pick up meele staying power but armour can't pick up
How does armour work, exactly? Does it only affect missile damage, or does affect melee as well?
It acts as a sort of 'saving throw' against dying. So it works both against missile damage and helps last longer in melee.

Yeah, even when cycle charging you'll lose men, but you'll lose much more if you don't cycle charge.
