Environments is such an intimidating topic in drawing😥 Thanks for you tutorial, it will make it a bit easier to understand. I liked the advice on not worrying about mathematically correct grids and google maps as refs are very cool!!
I got recommended this and didnt realise it was put out only a few hours ago! Drawing backgrounds with the use of perspective is something I'm trying to practice currently, so it's nice to have this recommended despite never actively looking for videos. I've never considered googlemaps the way you showed and I think it would help inform more cohesive buildings like you showed! It was also cool seeing how you tackled colouring the structure, despite all the detail. I took away a lot more than i expected to from this! And the demonstration was just what I needed; the illustration turned out wonderful. Thank you for sharing this with us 🙏
This was very helpful. I've only drawn cityscapes a couple of times before, but the tips and techniques you shared in this video might help me refine my skill at drawing them.
Oh gosh!! Using google map is a genius's idea!! You can go different cities, different landscape and even different vibes and weather depending on the location you're viewing! Thank you for opening my eyes!!
Thanks for this, I've been wanting to start with backgrounds but had no clue how to start, watched other videos on it but they didnt click, watching a step by step video with very clear direction gives me a great starting point, thanks so much.
Wow the detail!! From the thumbnail, I was sure that you'd used a 3D asset for the buildings, and so I clicked expecting there to be a tutorial for using models... but instead I get served humble pie as you do linework out of shadowy blobs lolol I mean this in the best way possible, you've inspired me to not be as negative about my ability to draw detailed backgrounds! back to the drawing board it is for me~
oh my god thank you so much for this! I can handle drawing more organic stuff, but structured things like buildings is always really daunting for me because of all the details and proportions that make them look natural. This really helps break those down in a way my adhd brain (lol) can understand a lot easier. Also unrelated related but drawing Amiya is based LOL
Awesome tutorial! Can you please make a tutorial on hwo to approach something like a background for Vtuber? I think so many people would apprecaite it, and it is a very popular yet confusing thing people want to be able to draw!
@@evuu Yes, exactly! I don't think there are currently any tutorials for it on TH-cam yet -(that I've seen anyways), so it could fit a missing spot in the niche!
Thank you a lot for videos like this. I'm following your art for a long time already, I learned a lot of good tips from you and still keep learning. You insire me a lot!
Very interesting video!! Backgrounds and perspective is very intimidating, I always get scared seeing perspectives grids but I think if I do it more would help. Would it be best to just practice drawing simpler backgrounds like maybe just a house or stores, to get used to perspective.
Aahhh so after u put the flat colors and shadows, you added darker shadows using soft brushes and Gpens, and not remove any line art or change their colors (too fast cant tell but from the looks of it nope) I've always been stuck at the phase after I'm done putting the flat and sd, I'm going to follow ur workflow thank you Evu
I'm amazed. I didn’t think it was possible to make a background so detailed. All these lines... crazy! Thanks for the video and that I found you! I will be glad to follow your work. And about the video. I would be glad if you started adding subtitles on TH-cam itself, and not on the video! This would help people who don't know English better understand your words. (I watched with automatic translation, but TH-cam doesn’t capture everything well in speech ((so it turned out rather unclear)
If you make a background with so much detail it is worthy of admiration, but in composition the figure in the middle is completely eclipsed and you do not notice it. At the same time, if you want to focus on the figure, you don't look at the background in detail and all the time and effort could be avoided by doing something dirtier without problems. It is a matter of knowing how to take preferences in the points of attention and in the illustration of the building, neither of the two figures attract my attention because that focus has been lost. Great work too, but too much for little results. I add that this focus could have been fixed by making the character much smaller, so that the background stands out.
Just found your video and its very helpfull ! Thank you very much for sharing may i know how much time you do for amiya Artwork in real time ? Thank you
Thank you so much for the video tutorial!!! I find this very helpful as I struggle with perspectives a lot XD I love how you put a lot of details but don't lose the focus point (which I mean the main character of the illustration), it is a very hard thing to do XP Anyway, don't know if this is helpful or not, but recently I found that we can change the color of our layer simply by pressing Ctrl+B. I think that you can try it when you draw the perspective grid or layer sketch, and you can change the color of your layer in Layer Property. Hope it is helpful for you, and I looking forward to your next video (uwu) Thank you so much again, and wish you best luck~~~
Damn, how has your channel not reached 1 million subscribers yet?! You are amazing!! this video helped me alot to understand how to draw and colour my backgrounds tysm
The amount of effort put into these backgrounds is through the roof, wow
thanks 💗
How can I never thought about google map?? Omg that's genius!

thank you, I appreciate it
My lazy ass would just model something in sketchup and paint on top of it 😭😭
That works too
Google map is such a game changer!! Photo refs only can only do so much unless you take it by yourself, so big big thanks for this divine revelation

Great video! I struggle a lot with backgrounds, this will help me so they don't look so flat
I'm glad
When I draw backgrounds they're so basic looking it's like a child draw it :(. I think I'm missing details that make a real building.
This was very helpful. I've only drawn cityscapes a couple of times before, but the tips and techniques you shared in this video might help me refine my skill at drawing them.
I'm glad
it's awesome how you make Amiya still stand out after all that detail in the background
amazing work!!

you mean like a workspace/room bg tutorial with a straight perspective? I could try something like that

Perfect! the way you do it is looking easy, but it's not really easy🔥

Very awesome video commentary lots of great info the sped up portions are so fast tho😢
can you please make video about how to paint and shadow hair?
As amazing as always
thank you ❤
hello ! this tutorial is wonderful, i'm curious how much time you usually spend on drawing backgrounds? they're so lovely and full of detail
thank you! 10-20 hours
Oh to be able to draw like you
Thanks for sharing your experience! You did an incredible job. By the way, I really like Krita for its built-in perspective rulers.
thank you ❤
oo I've never tried krita but I'll have to check it out!

thank you! starting with something simple is definitely a good idea. I also recommend doing photo studies, that's what I did when I started out
Thank you for these videos. 💛
Thank you for this!! As someone who really wants to learn how to draw city backgrounds, this helps me so much!! :D

Mais um artista pra seguir!
Que arte linda

Why are you changing the layer for each window and door? Or do you use different layers for horizontal and vertical lines?
I draw lineart on multiple layers to erase stuff more easily and then merge them at the end
thanks a lot, you are the best
aw thank you ❤
can you provide link of csp file formate of this background it help more love to see that. do it if possible plzz
sorry but I'd prefer not to do that ;; I'm worried about art theft
@@evuu i totally understand ❤️
One question, do you hide the lineart layer for the background or do you keep it and just color it or lower opacity to make it blend more with the bg?
Amazing! i have a question, What brush do you use for the bush?
assets.clip-studio.com/en-us/detail?id=1753487
What brush do you use for line art (I'm using CSP)
assets.clip-studio.com/en-us/detail?id=1719810
Wow how long does it take you to draw a background like that
How long did it take you to draw the background?
probably 10+ hours
Can you tell me what layer 21, layer 19 and layer 17 are for? 8:39
I think they're just different lineart layers. I usually draw stuff on seperate layers to erase anything easily and merge them at the end
@@evuu ohh i got it... Thanks btw From what age have you been drawing?
What canvas size do you use?
above 2000px (here 2000x2600 I think)
