After struggling for ages, a hygrometer 3 different palettes, I followed your advice and the dspiae palette sorted it. I note all their products are next level. The single sided nippers are noteworthy too as are the glass files. Best products on the market by some margin.
This is such a cool video. I have the RGG Wet Palette v2, and while it is really good, my studio tends to need the AC on since it can get pretty hot, which leads to my wet palette drying out pretty quickly. I'll see if I can find this one and try it out!
Always a fan of Masters painters pal, however, I paint with acrylics on canvas or paper mainly. I didn't have much use for individual paint "pots" so I removed them and store brushes there. I use a small humidifier near my easel while working. This helps too.I always love to see reviews on others favorites. Thanks!
What are the different papers you used at 6:20? The paper coming with mine does the same thing as the one in the middle and I find super hard to work with 😢
In China, it only costs 6 CAD to buy, and DSPIAE now offers two types of paper to choose from, similar to the third type in the video. I'll give it a try after I receive the goods. I don't think the white palette will be useful, so I'm planning to put brushes there.
I have a test request that you might like. Alcohol Inks. They are crazy cheap on Amazon and probably flow incredibly well through an airbrush. I wonder how well they work on minis
How oftern do you have to replace the wated conductive paper, the one that goes first on the sponge? I see the basic set comes with 3 of those and 10 color mixing papers. I suppose I'd need to get an additional set of the color mixing paper, but do I also need one for water conductive?
@@HamanuOp I tend to change mine every three or so papers. But that's also because I tend to use the sponge and paper to wet my brush. Sometimes with paint on it so it can get a bit colour filled. Paper towel also works as a water conductive paper though, at least the brand name ones do, so you can always use that as a back-up or an instead-of, but a box of the papers is cheap enough and should last 3 times as long as the papers.
Dang, I just used this for the first time and sadly my thinned paint still dried out quickly on the paper with water still in the palette, same as Redgrass and same as all the other palettes I've tried. Obviously, some kind of me problem. I do love the refill reservoir though, can't believe no other palette has that!
@@BradLacke Does your paper curl up at the edges? I did find the papers a little longer than the sponge and usually you can cut it down to size so it lays flat which might help with that a bit.
Can you tell me if the paper size from the old is compatible with the new version? They also have an "infiltration" paper, any idea on the difference there?
So every thing about the surface is the same. So the same guiding paper and same surface on the palette paper. It's just the shape that changes the pro palette is cut a little bigger is all so you can definitely use the smaller ones on the sponge still with no problem and that's what I plan to do with the the bunch I still have left.
I was able to get one in a shop in my province, but I think their official store is on Ali Express here: www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004717211291.html?channel=twinner
The lid doesn't have a gasket so you wouldn't want lots of water in there if you're transporting it around from location to location. If you just mean "can you paint with it at an angle" I don't think the paint would start to run until it was watery so a slight angle should be fine, but most all wet pallets should be used flat.
@@PaintmanJourneying I'm an amateur, I bought all my stuff on amazon Canada. It's two level just like the ones you showed but a different brand. I drilled two small holes in parts of the 2nd ``floor`` I don't use and it seems to do the job. Mind you, for sure I paint less often and shorter sessions than most people. I try and stretch the life of my unused paint as much as I can :-P I'll make sure to watch the website you recommended when I improve and need more equipment.
@@PaintmanJourneying one close by they sell on Amazon Canada, a 2 level model. I drilled small holes in part of the upper palette I use less. My painting sessions are scarce and not very long, it helps me saving on paint. I'll check the website you mention for my next acquisitions.
Dollar tree activity tray in the school section. 1.25 Sponge cloth 2 pack 3.00 Parchment paper 3.00 a roll. This design works as good as a pro set up but for a quarter the price. I would not ever buy a wet pallet. But mine doesn't have a lid or anything so no storing paint for long and I have to clean it after every painting session. Also the fancy paper is a bit more resilient
Good to see you back from hiatus ❤

Exactly my problem. I use the army painter XL and that bad boy will dry out before I can even close the lid due to the humid hot climate I live in.
This is a great video, hope are well.

Nice, I tried 3d printing one recently to replace my decade old "paper towel in a rubbermaid tub" one and it didn't go well. I'll check this one out.

From left to right the papers were-> Parchment paper [Kirkland brand], Dspiae then Scale75/Redgrass [which are very similar]

Where is this available to buy. Can’t find it anywhere

There's a few people at the local store using that palette, I'm still dipping my brush in the pot lol
just realized i hadnt seen you post in awhile. hope you doing well

Make the ‘finger hole’ larger so it’ll fit a pot of Nuln Oil, preventing it from tipping over 👌
Oh that is an extra clever idea! I like it, built in paint stand, but discreet.
@@PaintmanJourneying v2 concept ready for prototyping. Nuln Oil stand and white silicone popper auxiliary wells.
I made holes so both levels get access to humidity (I like keeping my old stuff :-P). I'll spend more when I become better, I'm awful right now lol
@@beauchampfrancois151 oh, do you mean for the Army painter pallet? That's a really great solution actually.

So is this channel dead? No content in almost a year and the patreon is taken down,
Not officially, since I have been trying to work on another video. I just can't commit to it like I was able to in the past.
Nice… sta-wet and cold pallets for me
