7 tooth steering is what I've got. 2 tooth steering is what I want, so I'm going to follow you closely Tina. This is my other channel where I'm going to upload car videos.
Thank you for this walk through, you both are great teachers. Please no need for you to reply, but a definite need on my part to say thank you! ~ Chuck
I though I spotted a Johnson transmitter on the shelf, hmmm. I like Mook too. Studebaker steering wheel is starting to get some cracks in it. Well, 64 years old, it should !! Good job, one piece at a time.
Hi Tina!: GREAT job on the steering wheel! Roadie is going to be so proud when you get all the fixes done! Then it will be FUN time! Driving!! Thanks so much to you and Paul, I learn something every time I watch a video!!
You will definitely like the 2 tooth steering box. I rebuilt mine last winter with Jerry Morrissey. What a difference. Of course, you have a great teacher helping you also.
You and Roadie deserve a 2 tooth steering box. It will be fun to watch you guys do that. I know Bob did a video a few years back. But it would be great to see it done again with you and Paul. I truly enjoy watching them. 😊
I started watching this earlier this morning, but my wife wanted to do some shopping, so off we went. Well, 6 hours later I was able to finish watching your video. Good job with the steering wheel Model T. Looks good, I hope all is well and everyone is fine. Have a great day!
No matter what the age, we are still kids at heart. Nice steering wheel. Just curious, but if you coat the whole thing in Polyurethane after the edge trimming. All would be protected & have a nice shiny smooth wheel. Those are very large diameter steering wheels. Cool video.
Hi, is the center of the wheel original with new bonding on the rim or is the whole steering wheel new? I really enjoy the work you and Paul do. Fun and informative.
The whole steering wheel is new, the company has 2 different molds that are from original Model A steering wheels, this is a great way to have a period correct steering wheel, but new….hard to find a good original steering wheel that isn’t being used lol
Thanks Tina. Greetings from Bunyip, Australia. Your timing is perfect. I'm about to do exactly the same thing (2 tooth box and new wheel) on my 29 tourer. I have all the bits so your video has given me some encouragement.
I could use a new steering wheel as well for my 1930 Roadster. My steering wheel has some cracks and it looks like a steering knob was severely tightened on it for a long time as well. I have done a lot of business with Mike's Afordable, super nice folks. Even been to their place of business a couple of times.
Looks great and not too soon. Unfortunately the old one is looking too rough for use. I still have the original in mine. I didnt even know there were ribs on the front of the wheel until I saw a newer one! And yes, Mook is hilarious.
Thank you so much for all the content you both put out. I am getting more confident about buying my first A every day with the knowledge you are sharing
Way back when JFK was president I started building model cars and quickly learned a little trick for removing the casting flash without hurting the bodies . Don't hold your knife laying down like you did as it allows the blade to dig in . Instead , hold the blade at a 90 degree angle to your work and use it to scrape away the flashing , much like you were doing with your file . Much easier than having to explain that you cut yourself with a knife .
Gotta love Paul’s radio voice 😂. Would the original steering wheel be repairable? I’ve seen others repair steering wheels with epoxy (similar to our friend JB Weld) and even fiberglass putty. Great video; thank you!
Lol, Paul is fun! I suppose it’s possible to put a product on to fill in cracks and make look smooth, but I don’t know just how deep down those cracks go, so to me, safety first 😁 Maybe once I take the original steering wheel off and examine it closely and it seems like they are more of just a surface crack then maybe I’ll refinish it and restore it and do something nice with it for another Model A…we’ll see 🥰 have an awesome week!
@@Modeltshinn What they do is cut through the cracks and make them deeper and wider and then fill with the product and finish. Seems to work; which is great on very rare steering wheels for which you can’t get reproductions. You have a great week as well!
I see nothing wrong with pretend driving. When I was a little boy my father's buddy had a '29 roadster pick up. I played in it all the time. That started the Model A bug I think. Red wheels are cool , but I find hard to keep clean. Black was a good choice. Looking forward to the 2 tooth install video.
@@vayabroder729 I’m just not sure how deep those cracks go down and without power steering you have to strong arm it lol, afraid it will brake on a big turn some day 😜😆
Hi! Personally, I’m not sure if I’m going to keep the same color scheme in the future, I’m honestly thinking of painting it back to an original color for it’s time, so I think black will go better with any color and my interior seat and shifter, etc are black, I think it will be nice 🥰
It is getting to be rodent time again. What do you all think of grated original Irish Spring soap in a delicate laundry bag to deter them from making a winter home in the upholstery of a Model A? Seemed to work last winter for me.
I know that thin, sharp edge as "flash". I remember it from my model car building days when the small, plastic pieces would have flash on their edges.

I love the better response of a 2 tooth, I feel like steering a boat with 7 tooth lol

And I love junkyard Mook also.

I appreciate that, thank you! Have a wonderful week and stay well 💗
@@ronvinson5646 I don’t think that would work very well because of the angle, but who knows?
Very nice! Having a new steering wheel really is Important, glad that so many things are available for the Model A's...
It is really nice 💗
Can't wait to see the final install. I may have to do that with my 31 tudor.
You guys crack me up, I love it ! Have a great weekend.

Good job. Some patients and elbow grease does the trick. Looking good!

Thank you! I was amazed at how easy it was when I was done, I honestly thought it was going to be hard to make it look nice when done Lol

Was a wood steering wheel an option from Ford? I guess not after seeing Paul’s read.
There was wooden stirring wheels, but not in Model A’s 😁

Is there a reason you choose to replace the red wheel with a black one?
Cracks on the original although I’ve seen others fixed and refinished.
