Building A Full Exhaust For Our 1929 Ford Roadster Pickup!!

- The allure of the straight pipped Roadster Pickup has worn off and it's time to build a full exhaust out the back! When driving the RPU down the street its quite loud and you tend to smell like exhaust once you arrived at your destination. Before starting on the exhaust, Matt welds up some custom block offs using pipe plugs! With some left over mandrel bends from all the exhaust kits we have built, it's time to run the exhaust up and over the rear crossmember and out the back. Matt also added some small mufflers to help tone down the sound.

Being a truck guy, (I own 3 old Fords...51, 52 and 70) the RPU is my favorite of all your builds. Love to own one someday. Sounds perfect and looks perfect.

They make Flomasters here in Sonoma county northern California. Its where they started. They originally built exhaust for VW's in Petaluma. Now they are in Santa Rosa building flomasters. I actually had a set that had a certificate of compliance with the CHP.

Sounds and looks great. Even though it's a work vehicle. I'd put chrome tips on the ends of the exhaust. From behind, they'd match the polished shocks.

Being a big Ford pickup truck fan this is definitely one of my favorite ITG builds.
It's gonna be an awesome parts, supplies, meals delivery vehicle while also being a really neat weekend night cruiser.
Don't forget, loud pipes save lives! Good thing you put cut outs on it.

Sounds great. You probably smell better now after a decent drive. Good for hearing too. Somemore tweaks to come.
Matt you might put a little antiseize on those plugs or they may never come back out.

Now with those added flanges you could probably make a cross over pipe from one header to the other to balance out the sound when you take the exhaust off? Sounds great though simple and clean.
A crossover the next time the truck goes down, please. How does an X crossover sound on a flathead?

The next step is getting a sign painter to paint your Logo on the doors,then it would be awesome.

It sounds a lot better for a parts chaser. If it was used often it would get old with the load pipes.
I think it sounds much better also. A deeper, throaty sound without the harshness of the 'open' headers.

It sounds sweet , Matt ! Especially when you rev it up . Very nice dual exhaust system . I have no doubt it runs better , as you said , it has more back pressure now . I'm sure you won't miss the fumes , lol . Love that truck , not a bad turn around on the Texas parts cart .

Like you mentioned, this was needed, making it a feasible daily driver. One has to wonder how much of the fumes you used to smell on your clothes has been eliminated from your lungs as well. Grand fix, and looks good too!

I thought you were going to put in one of those flanges that you can open and close?
- Also, what would happen with your clearance problem underneath if you just put some pipes underneath, heated them up, and then as my grandmother would say "beat the fuk out of them" -
- I know you would lose some "I.D.", but if you did it carefully it would be acceptable
A little smoke from the driver side exhaust.
The droning from open headers gets tiresome on a long run, this setup should work better, some back pressure should give a torque gain
