I just like the fact that he seems to "gaze" in completely random directions throughout, almost like he's making constant microadjustments to keep tabs on his surroundings at all times.
For those saying Shimazu died for nothing, He let John in as he is Excommunicado and Shimazu knew well about this. Caine let Shimazu and Akira walk away but if they both did, they will be hunted by The High Table since they broke the rules so Shimazu literally had no choice but to sacrifice himself so Akira can walk away free but Caine gave many chances and had no choice but to kill Shimazu.
True! That's why when Caine said, "Take care of your daughter," Shimazu's response was, "I am." He had to die in order for her to be freed from being hunted.
@@Seizhin Worse, they would have put Shimazu in the same position as Caine: A servant unable to ever see his daughter again. And she probably would have gotten herself killed trying to reunite them.
These guys gave up their positions in The High table, their families and their very lives to save John Wick…. That goes to show how terrifiyingly great of a hitman John was during his time and also how much love/respect his peers had for him to go that far 💯
Maybe I'm missing something here, but Akira's vendetta is kinda' dumb. She literally witnessed Caine attempt to spare Shimazu repeatedly, and he only died because he basically gave Caine no choice. Sure it sucks that he killed her father, but it was Shimazu's fault for being so stubborn.
Shimazu wasn't being stubborn, he offered Wick sanctuary after he was declared Excommunicado. That is breaking "The Rules" of the High Table and the underground. If someone is declared Excommunicado, offering them sanctuary is forfeiting your life. That is why you DO NOT break the rules, which Wick did by killing someone on Continental grounds. Shimazu had no choice but to be killed here. Caine was trying to be nice, but in reality it was a hollow gesture. Both Caine and Shimazu knew the rules, even if he escaped with his daughter, it was certain both Shimazu and his daughter were going to be hunted by The High Table. When Shimazu said "I AM!" after Caine said "Think of your daughter", it was because he knew he had to die. Otherwise The High Table was going to hunt Akira along with hunting Shimazu. They would have taken her hostage, or torchered / killed her to get to him. Though now he's dead, The High Table has no reason to go after her. In all honesty, the kindness Caine was showing Shimazu here was putting on a show for Akira. Caine and Shimazu both knew what had to happen. Caine let Shimazu fight, show honor, all while maintaining his commitment to "following the right path". Not letting yourself go back on your word, and the debt Shimazu owed to Wick. While also letting Shimazu "die with dignity", instead of having to take his own to protect Akira.
Dumb? Bro, that's her father being killed here. All the reasons in the world wouldn't be enough to quench the pain and the rage. Not to mention all these people are killers. "Kill /be killed" is in their cores.
Cain wasn’t after either of them. The entire point of attacking him was to die at his hands to keep the High Table from hunting them down. If he’d have left with his daughter like Cain told him to they would have died. He fought Cain with the intent of losing.
Caine knew Amira would eventually come after him for payback. But instead of warning her against it he just said he’d be waiting for her, cuz he knew she was owed that.
more like caine knew talking her out of revenge would be impossible, if he thought he could convince her to not fight him to avenge her father he would've tried that.
Can someone tell me the origin of Caine's opening stance? The closest resemblance I can see is that it's an inversion of Niman from Star Wars, but I doubt that's where it's from.
The High Table and The Marquis would send people to hunt down Koji and Akira if they both left alive after what occurred at the Osaka Continental. Caine wanted both to live so he offered Koji the chance to let him know where John went as he could use that as leverage to argue why he left without killing them off(he got what he needed). Problem is Koji wasn't willing to give up John's safety like that and failing to give that information meant he and his daughter were guaranteed to be hunted down. By giving up his life for the sake of his daughter Koji guaranteed The High Table and The Marquis wouldn't have a reason to go after Akira.
@c0nvict_pleb174 Caine spared his life multiple times, and told him to walk away, yet Koji kept on pushing it to the point where Caine was left no other choice. And Akira has the nerve to blame him since Caine was just defending himself. Shit I'm almost certain that if the table had gone after Koji and/or Caine for not dying there, the three of them (John, Caine and Koji) could've teamed up to fight the table.

A true samurai. He knew he just couldn't give up on John like this, because he valued the thing most people forgot about: a warrior's honor.
Loyalty 100
Those corpses Caine killed here were Marquis men. Shimazu expected Caine here, just not Akira. 😂
Fun fact: The director of this movie let Donnie Yen and Hiroyuki Sanada choreograph this fight.

Smart.
@JustSendMeLocation it's hiroyuki and Donnie, is it that hard to belive
It would be something they would want to do, especially if it would be a fight
Donnie Yen does a great job not instinctively turning his head towards Toranaga, really sells the the fact that his character is blind
Donnie Yen is the GOAT.

True! That's why when Caine said, "Take care of your daughter," Shimazu's response was, "I am." He had to die in order for her to be freed from being hunted.
At least with the father dead, The Table has no family to blackmail the daughter with. Although she may still be hunted, it won't matter.
"You don't owe John anything"
"Yes I do, We both do, we owe him our friendship"
And boy cane did
They owed that to him
But it's not like caine had a choice the high table was threatening his daughters life that's blackmailing
The duality of one fighting For the cause for his daughter, the other fighting Against the cause for his daughter.
Great scene.
Caine: I gave your dad 3 chances before I killed him.
Akira: I don't care
Tbf I believe Koji chose to fight to the death since if he live, Akira would be targeted by the High Table for helping John
Koji sacrificed both his Continental and life for John Wick.

@@giladshaked131koji was pretty stupid. John sought out the elder, he made the deal, then decided against and then killed the elder
This is an amazing scene. But it just sucks so bad at the same time. So many fell on the sword for Wick to carry on…
It's even sadder because he didn't have to, he was willing to let the guy live and walk away with John's location.

A sword fight is always a cooler way in every movie and series.
Wow.. both actor with actual sword skills, and not fake actors with no training or body doubles. No wonder it was epic.❤
If Koji hadn't been shot, then the fight would've probably been a draw.
Caine won because he was... "One with the Force."

I would've liked to know what their friendship was like before John Wick 4.
Action legends in one frame. Both fighting for their daughter.
Great writing
I like how you can only hear the sound of metal blades and no music in the background.
I feel like sword fighting is an art that doesn’t need music to enhance it. The ambiance from the water and the elements speak volumes.
Ip Man vs Lord Toranaga!!!
They should do a spin off film of the osaka continental that would be epic
Scorpion vs. The blind guy from Star Wars.

The fact he could've lived and chose not to makes me a bit mad.
He is deliberately dying here to ensure that the High Table doesn't go after his daughter.

Kinda dissapointed the fight was rather too short. This is the Twilight Samurai vs. Ip Man. It should've been longer.
