I used to clean a coffee shop after hours... and it was just as creepy. Esp when some manager with keys comes in randomly and sneaks up on you vacuuming! 😬
chilla's art could probably make a series or a collection out of their games about simply working in a coffee shop and other mundane jobs, like similar to diner dash or those cooking games minus the horror.
OMG YES I would play it! Like Happy Humble Burger Farm's fast food simulator part of its game. There's just something about job simulations as games ☺️
Always loved to see a CA game again. They're never 'perfect', always a little charmingly janky. But what they always, always nail is a perfectly unsettling atmosphere and ambience of surreality and unease. Always worth it.
I don't know if you noticed but near the end when you went on the balcony to look for the phone, when you went back inside the closet door closed "by itself". >_> Wonderful and terrifying games as always, thank you for playing it!
Enjoying this very much so far! Just wanted to comment in case someone else hasn't already, but "Nihongo jouzu" means "Your Japanese is very good". Basically every single foreigner who lives in Japan and speaks even a single word of Japanese usually gets told this phrase by Japanese people, haha. It's actually quite endearing. Enjoying this video and gonna continue now! :)
This game really freaked me out because it hits so close to home. That paranoia is a very familiar feeling. Also people not taking you seriously, which is frustrating. This is probably my favorite CA game so far because of the more realistic elements and also I love the barista aspect of it. As janky as it is they really nailed the atmosphere.
the level of anxiety this game captures its insane, the lady with the empty carriage...what happened? and things escalated so fast glad the protagonist was smart enough to seek help even if its not directly going to the cops, all of the customers mentioning there was something off was a great way to set the atmosphere, what a great game.
I was hoping you were playing this one! Definitely another great Chilla's Art game, even with the bugs. He does good work with the "horror of the mundane", and this was especially tense. Scary to think that someone could take an obsessive interest in you just because their wires crossed in just such a way, and it happens all the time, I'm sure. Thanks again for another great playthrough!
Had that happen once. There was a mentally unstable guy who took an interest in me once at a cleaning job I did, ended up yelling at him on the street cuz he tried to follow me after work. Guy was delusional that we should be together, was convinced I liked him back. The whole thing was weird af and creepy, I actually got pretty nervous about him doing something to me cuz he couldn't handle the rejection. Oh and same job, different location some guy tried to string me into online..work of a certain type. Glad I got out of there asap, what a bunch of weirdo creeps they had. Still I hope the delusional guy has found help, or better meds, and is doing better than he was back then. He wasn't like evil, I don't wish him harm. The other one was just trash.
@@aviannte I'm not someone easily scared, it didn't make me feel unsafe overall, just at that particular moment it was freaky. I was kinda outraged, angry that he was trying to follow me. I guess my "fight or flight" is fight lol, at least against "normal" odds. I knew he was unwell, that's what was scary cuz it made him unpredicatable. Not just that he'd maybe hurt me, but that he'd hurt himself in some weird mental state. I never saw him after that, can just hope he's doing better, for others' but also his own sake. He wasn't an awful human, he was not unlikeable. Just mentally something wrong, not unfixable probably, or at least something that's manageable with the right help. I honestly feel sorry for him.
The fear, paranoia and anxiety I felt during this, is an all too familiar feeling. I think this might be CA’s best game by far. The reason I think that is because for guys, it just seems like a scary game, but to the guys who play this, what you’re feeling is exactly how women feel when they know they’re being stalked or when we’re paranoid that we’re being stalked around every corner, and how helpless we feel, for example, the manager not believing the protagonist when she told him she was being stalked, and just the fact that in the game, all the protagonist could do was continue working like nothing was happening. Even the private investigator mentioned that the police wouldn’t do anything, and in the US, that’s mostly true. Most of the time they won’t do anything until physical harm has actually occurred, but by then it’s too late. Anyways, I absolutely love this game and the realness CA brought to it!!! Edit: These comments under my comment are great. I’ve never seen people debate in an understanding way on social media. I love all of these opinions and thoughts. They’re different but they still somehow mesh together towards the same idea. It’s good to be wary of our surroundings, but not fearful.
Why would you be paranoid of being stalked tho? I know one woman who has that, but tbf she is literally scared of everything, like thunder, rain, the dark, any animals, etc etc etc. She's over 30. Don't allow yourself to live in fear :) If it helps to feel safer you could carry a small can of hairspray (if you cant get pepperspray) in your coat pocket , its legal and very effective.
@@illyria7756 I think what she meant was that women generally have to be on alert when they are out and about. It's a sad statement about society, but we literally aren't safe 100% of the time. I don't live in fear, but I'm definitely wary and on alert, especially when I'm alone, and doubly especially at night (although abductions are known to happen in the middle of the day in parking lots here). And pepperspray, MACE, and the like is illegal in my country, so, yeah, we'd need to carry something like hairspray.
@@lokicooper4690 a cop told me about the hairspray, said it works even better than mace especially if people are on some kind of drug that would make them ignore the effects of pepper spray. Hope this info helps other feel safer without worrying about carrying something illegal. I get that people don't feel safe nowadays, especially in certain areas. I just don't want that fear to take over their lives, seen it happen and its such a waste of your life. Be wary but not afraid.
@@illyria7756 I see what you mean, but I think it's a thin line between the two (caution and fear)... in fact they probably mix and overlap a lot. The sad truth is that the sort of fight-or-flight and alertness that comes with fear is sometimes what is necessary, living as a woman in certain contexts. Of course it's horrible to waste your life living in fear, but the opposite is that it's terrible to be naive and end up in a dangerous situation too, so sadly I imagine a lot of women end up occupying a grey area of fear/caution. I suppose it's about finding the right balance, for their mental wellbeing, but also their physical wellbeing - both being vital.
I think this game captures the atmosphere so well that it feels like I'm working in a cafe myself. (Because the background inside the cafe feels real. Hahaha~!😆)
