@@MMAShreddedI love when two different sports are willing to step out of their comfort zone to learn and it’s not about what is better we need more like this
3:54 The way Frank pivots in the "phone booth" while completely evading is epic. You can visualize the foot in the tire drill. Wow, he is good. That much mass moving like a feather in the wind --- but can still impart jaw-pulverizing hooks in an instant. Thanks for this.
Give him 1 year of just basic kickboxing and he will be fire. Boxing round is on flow he is so smooth and very controlled, doesn't use his size you can tell when it comes to boxing he is very legit. Amazing vid Jeff❤
Incredible how much the kicks took away from his head movement game. He was probably having a hard time processing all the new angles and heights at which to defend, but when you went to straight boxing, man, he has some moves. It's not often we see Jeff step in like that to try and smother someone's head movement, normally it's the other way around!
Yes, Im from México and do Muay Thai, everybody tell me about "Boxing more" cus you know, México=Boxing but i always have to explain why I can't do the boxing things Thai, even the steps make u a tarjet to sweep, and not everybody understands that. Dude I can get a knee on my face if I do what r u tell me. Now, I have a Kickboxing fight last week, and there I could do so much more head movement.
Nah, the problem was not processing all new angles at all, me thinks. In the boxing round, he rarely looks at Jeff after he starts his head motions and his movements are often wider than they should be. The reason is, he developed a few.. automatic motion sequences which are probably quite effective in minimizing the damage, he knows when to start each. But when it comes to legs, it is difficult to develop such automation. So now it requires a lot more.. conscious defense than he is used to. But... those are just my speculations.
Really enjoyed how both guys held back in their respective specialties to allow the other to grow and practice. No egos just exposing week points and practicing to get better. Great stuff.
Man you're always looking for new sparring partners, from all disciplines, and that's what makes your style so unique. A true mixed martial artist. This one has very impressive footwork, and was looking for advice as well, amazing.
I'm super impressed when boxers & people who studied Muay Tai spar or fight, they show each other the most respect there is no backing down from either opponent and not only such powerful hits but the ability to take a hit as well, major props to both

To me this is wholesome a grown man wanting to learn even tho hes a pro boxer bringing himself back down to earth and beginning a new journey. Great to see.
Jeff, guys like Frank are truly a great find in a gym 👍....it answers the question, 'what can I do in muay thai when someone has a certain weapon that's clearly superior?' 'Can I neutralize it or employ the appropriate defense?' Especially for a boxer, I try to utilize different hand positions ( shell, long, peek a boo etc) to confuse or find something more effective. Awesome job as always 👏 👏👏
I think the British scene has grown by leaps and bounds. They have a rich boxing heritage and their style combines the two very well, imo. Learning the modifaction of head movement, many boxers, especially young ones in their early 20's can possibly make it to the international scene and make people understand that kickboxers CAN box. JMHO. Nice video Jeff.
This was awesome to watch. Frank switching from muay thai stance/awareness to pure boxing, while Jeff kept his mma boxing the whole time; very instructive.

Not only was a pro boxer but also he is a big guy, so even with the self control that pro fighters has, I imagine everything he threw had a lot of weight hehe, great video as always Jeff, always happy to see you 💚
As a boxer who also does Muay Thai on occasion: boxers do just hit harder in general. The stance can afford to be a bit more grounded and you work in throwing just punches so they tend to have a bit more structure behind them. Having started at kickboxing, gone to boxing, then sparred kick-boxers again I found myself being totally unbothered by the punches. Leg kicks in the other hand… not so much
That was awesome Jeff , you did great , was awesome to watch Frank Galarza Record: 20-3-2 (Win-Loss-Draw) and he is 37 i believe and from the fights i've seen from him he is pretty good and seems like a genuine good guy

There's a lot of respect in this sparring I see. Hey Jeff - love your content as always. As both a high level striker and grappler, I’m curious to hear your opinion on the somewhat common “Muay Thai vs Boxing” debate in specific regards to: suitability as an mma striking base, self defence practicality (inc. multiple opponents), usefulness in sparring/fighting heavier opponents, and ability to smoothly complement grappling. An inadvertent example of this dilemma can be seen in the great coach Firas Zahabi’s videos, in which he labelled Muay Thai as the “best martial art for a street fight”, only to later make a similar statement about boxing in a later video regarding the need for grapplers to learn striking for self defence. Given his caliber, he unsurprising made great arguments for both despite the unknowing contradiction. To provide some personal context behind the question, my first martial arts experience was in amateur Muay Thai before Covid, while I’m currently a national u21 judo medalist (the next best thing in a country with virtually no wrestling). Ultimately, my goal is to reach a high level in mma, and of course, be able to defend my loved ones from anyone in a real life altercation, which is why I plan to go back to training and competing in striking for a period of time. As stupid as this may sound, my indecision on whether to go back to my roots (MT) or focus on boxing (which I trained for a few months last year) is becoming more of an issue than it should be. I currently have access to two highly competent and experienced coaches in both arts who make compelling arguments for each of their respective styles, which is why another opinion from a reliable source such as yourself would be incredibly helpful to me as far as making a decision ASAP goes. Thank you in advance 👌. P.S. I forgot to add this earlier, but I’d also like to hear your take on which is more inherently useful/effective for someone with an abysmally short reach; I’m asking this as a 5’9 welter/middleweight who barely clocks a 67 inch reach. As someone who’s been told before that I’d barely amount to anything as a striker for this particular reason (I call bullshit), this particular aspect of the equation is a rather big deal to me when making a final decision on which striking art to focus on for the time being.
Goddamn, his confidence in slipping and throwing when he wasn't even looking in the boxing round was impressive. How loosely he was able to throw the punches, land and slip, super impressive. Ate him up in the first though
I can still see it here form the boxer: He's dropping his head and taking his eyes off the muay thai fighter like in boxing to slip and roll. He'll keep catching a knee to the face from more skilled muay thai fighters.
Boxing as a pro is so low paying, usually 100 bucks a round and the head damage and gym wars are ridiculous. The whole culture is as bad or worse than MMA promotions/promoters. With some Muay Thai promotions and promoters, there is some honor especially from a Muay Thai background. I'm excited to see Liam harrison's new promotion grow. Will he keep to a fighters heart or screw people over?
One of the greatest talents and gifts we receive from Mr. Chan is… there is more money in showing others how to spar, where to train, what to eat, in comparison to actually fighting in one of the biggest, highest paying events on earth. Tell me that happens in the NFL, NBA, WBO… this man should be making 6 digits.

Goddamn, his confidence in slipping and throwing when he wasn't even looking in the boxing round was impressive. How loosely he was able to throw the punches, land and slip, super impressive. Ate him up in the first though
Cheers!
I can still see it here form the boxer: He's dropping his head and taking his eyes off the muay thai fighter like in boxing to slip and roll. He'll keep catching a knee to the face from more skilled muay thai fighters.
2:51 I love how that right was just waiting
"Hello There!"

Poetry in motion. Thanks for sharing this.

This is a dope vid. I miss my boxing gym! Work & school have taken over my life!! 😅
thank you!!
Technical sparring was much more enjoyable on many levels. You were not badly outboxed you more than held your own in the boxing round. 👍🏼
great rythm from both. So nice to watch.

Boxer firing leg kicks this must be another universe

Tell me that happens in the NFL, NBA, WBO… this man should be making 6 digits.
thanks for watching :)
Dude got some hands bro! Great session 👏🏼👏🏼
