Lathland, in case you haven't already figured it out you should mess with the "scale step" and "grid size" sliders in the build mode, also the randomized mode option on the build tools menu is a cool feature, and finally the blocks like the thrusters and solar panels depend solely on the surface area of the block placed and doesn't matter if the side is covered up, so the most size efficient way of placing these blocks is to use the scale step and place a large amount of the smallest block you can.
Friday: worked a hellish OT shift at a pharmacy with a shortage of help at a different store... saw Lathrix is starting an Avorion series. Today was a great day. I just picked up the game a few days ago, i am really excited, I also accidentally got a bad rep with a faction. tfw you're thinking "hey warheads seem very lucrative! I'll take 50!" be careful whatcha buy folks
Dammit Lathland! You taught me how to build proper ships in FTD and now you show up here in Avorion that I like immensely, I guess only option at this point is to subscribe to your channel. Keep up the good work :D
Man this is so nostalgic just to look back on how much you developed on this game then it was just forgotten barely any content about it is being posted I hope you see this comment and revive this series would make me very happy
Lathrix, if you land a single hit on a pirate/alien attacking the sector, the government will pay you for helping. Also, if you salvage a craft you get the resources and a possibility for parts to drop turrets or systems upgrades, while just destroying them still has a possibility to drop the turrets/systems you won't get much if any resources. Also, for future engine building, the height width and depth are all important for the amount of thrust. With the huge engines at the rear of your craft being wide and tall but very thin, they aren't producing much thrust. If you got rid of the hull block behind the central one and replaced both it and the engine with a larger engine you could boost your max speed a great deal. Glad to see you're liking Avorion,
Thanks for showing off your builds as you go about it. I was incredibly frustrated with this game's building mechanics at first and I quit a couple days after launch. I've now seen the power of this building system and will pick it back up as I watch your series from the top!
I've been watching you since about 10k subs and you have been a frequent source of entertainment ever since. I just wanted to say thank you so much for everything. I love your videos and I love this series so far. Keep it up!
Hey there Lath. I know you mentioned not wanting to spoil too much, but if you're curious how the integrity field works look further down. Any block within the field can take 10 times as much damage. A larger field block increases the range of the field.
I was wondering about this game a few weeks ago, but couldn't remember the name. Today, I saw this pop up in my recommended for some reason. Praise the algorithm.
hey Lath, dont know if your gonna read this but The Xsotan is an Alien Race that was "Created" by the Event. They are only aggressive when you get close to them. As for the Credits, if you get too low on them, find an asteroid that looks a lot bigger than the rest of the asteroid, you can easily find them by size and by its apearance as it looks like there are multiple smaller asteroids fused together. When you get close to this asteroid you can claim it and sell it, resulting in a large sum of Credits.
I bought this game after watching you play, and absolutely love it. where from the depths is a very confusing mass of commands and such interlocking pieces making awesome weapons and ships, this game makes creating an amazing ship worthy of being called a scourge of all mankind, very easy. its clear and quite easy to understand how things work at the moment. after saying all this, I would like to suggest something. the salvage turrets, are also extremely good at tearing into enemy ships. before the pirates and npcs get shields, the salvaging turrets add a huge amount of dmg, and give you a large amount of 1) materials like iron and such, and 2) get you a remarkable about of systems to upgrade with and many many more turrets to choose from. one more thing I would like to add. using a scanner system, or object scanner can also be highly profitable, and you should see why. I'm looking forward to what you build and create over however long this lets play pans out
So I have been following your videos for quite some time and I have to say I rally appreciate your videos. I tend to talk A LOT and I have to be very busy or I get bored. SO watching your videos on my second monitor while I'm doing other things works so well because you talk A LOT. So thanks for that!
glad you will make more of thoses for those who enjoy this kind of game, i advise you to try the X series (X3 albion prelude for exemple) its close without ship building or precedural generation
Woo! Been playing this a lot last few days, definitely a good time, and it will DEFINITELY fit your built mentality late game when you can go nuts with making huge Chaos Gods themed ships. With asteroid mining, theres an efficiency rating on each mining beam, and make note that buffs like "+10%" efficiency on mining beams separately from the default seen efficiency doesnt appear to add to that number, but you DO actually get the increased efficiency so far as my testing has shown.
This game definitely has such potential intricacy that it rivals From the Depths. Definitely looking forward to seeing more. I do kinda wish that weapons were able to be built in the same way as the rest of the ship however.
LOVE the game :( wish i could afford it been watching lots of lets plays and such :D please make lots of lets plays with this, i loved the FtD series but I think IMO this is far better so far from what I seen.
I have never been so absolutely excited for a series on this channel before. Godspeed, Lathrix! And, if I may suggest or request one thing, perhaps try to build more asymmetric designs?
7 years ago.. Proud to say I've finally gotten my own pc and am playing a game that captured my mind from when I was 16. Lathland has been a favorite youtuber of mine since I believe I was 13ish?
Not sure if the devs intended it to be like that but the very harsh collision damage is actually realistic since at high speeds even a flek of paint can cause massive damage, goes without saying that hitting a space rock would be more so...
You've also got what I call "combat salvager" it is insanely fast, and consumes energy. There are salvage guns which does not consume energy, but slower. ;) You get materials, and there is a small chance to get loot from every block you destroy or salvage. It will be you main income for titanium, because there are really few asteroids where you are. :)
The faster way I prefer is to grab a hyperspace upgrade and head to ~440. Salvage titanium is only fast when there is a salvaging sector for it, find an asteroid sector is better.
Synvy - most indeedly. (Y) I am cautious when beginning a new game, so on a bordering sector I let the natives massacre the Xeo ships, then go there to salvage. :D Luckily, the main titanium carrier components have distinctive textures. :P Then I got bolder and bolder, as my ship became stronger - and discovered the joy of salvaging a ship while it is still fighting. I imagine the little pirates trying to scream in space while spilling out from a ship cut in half by my empowered salvaging beams at point blank range. If I may, here is my little tank-ship: images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/94975470799067843/DEB8387F1E21ABC111F5E7E20E0C585CE9A0EC05/
Fun fact: the smallest ship buildable at a shipyard is even smaller than the mining drone. Not practical (too small to fit turrets) but adorable nonetheless.
The salvage bean you have has an insane energy use need. Not all are like that. Also if you find one that are independent you can set them up to Auto target salvage. It great when you have 4 or 6 that auto as you can just pull up to the wreck and it will just eat it up in seconds. You can also have more than one ship. I set one up with a captain and had it mine while I fight and salvage with my main ship. I cant wait till he finds a boss battle!
Now, I love the Brute design, it's fucking amazing in the later parts of this LP series. But watching back, it makes me wonder what a Sunfish dreadnaught would look like
Suddenly had an idea of sealife based fleet of ships. Megalodon Dreadnaughts Support Pods (octopus or squid) Sunfish Cruisers Hammerhead Frigates Marlin Fighters Manta Bombers That would be surprisingly effective for space combat
and here i was trying to find a youtuber who is expert builder like me LMAO didn't expect i will find the same guy, whose videos i used to watch for "from the depths"
Hey Lath, Shipyards let you pay money and resources for pre-generated ship. For instance, if you pay $4000 and 1500 iron, you could get a small ship. In all honesty though, it would probably be better to hand craft your ships once you have got the hang of build mode (and know what most things do)
shipyard allows to make ship if you dount what to make them manually and if you find a sector with ton of destroyed ships wich are not legal to salvage you should get the salvage licence from the station wich has a recycling icon you can get alot of modules and turrets to sell in this sectors
I've always wondered what fuel was being used to propel Titanium engines over Iron engines. Iron spouts the flams of burning crude... whereas titanium seems to run on thermite!
this look like a really good game! a mix between space engineers and may be some sort of eve spirit somehow, if they made it like a one server game, that would be AWESOME, anyway probably gonna buy it, i really hope that it grow
This game has some inspiration from the X series by the looks. I'm drawing that from how the stations talk to you when you contact them. "This is an automatic interaction system, how may we help you?"
MOAR, oh yeah lath you may need to start building ships with bigger scales, when you do be sure they are at least naonite or trinium. oh yeah and only naonite and above has shields however titanium has armor.
If you build a ship and put a captain in it it will follow you around and you can give it orders. That's right, fleets!
Thank you for this series.
SUN FOR THE SUNFISH.
BLOOD FOR THE BLOODGOD.
Tim Becker and fish for Tim Becker
Tim Becker
Sun for the sunfish
Blood for the blood god
Milk for the Khorne flakes
Tim Becker khorne for the khorne god
overhead wires for the NER es1
Skulls for the skull throne
Milk for the khorneflakes
To be honest it looks like a 3D reassembly and I like that
Actually it a competitor to Starmade... Which ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IT MAY FINISH unlike Starmade... AKA Minecraft in space...
Finally Avorion let's play Series! I been looking for this. I'm in love with this game I can't stop playing. Finally a decent youtuber recording it.
Is it worht a buy?
Kane Hart - Let's Plays Lathrix
Worth*
I goingto check your channel for some of these.
TH-cam already had a video shown on the side.
Kane Hart - Let's Plays = I've seen your videos. Your not bad at all. Your ships are just a little flat and could use some aesthetics, in my opinion.
I've put in many hours into this game every day since release and I'm STILL going to watch every minute of your footage bcuz I love you and this game
i think we found reassembly succesors
It's been 3 years, but it's still so fun to go back to your old series.
Hits hard dude
Lathland, in case you haven't already figured it out you should mess with the "scale step" and "grid size" sliders in the build mode, also the randomized mode option on the build tools menu is a cool feature, and finally the blocks like the thrusters and solar panels depend solely on the surface area of the block placed and doesn't matter if the side is covered up, so the most size efficient way of placing these blocks is to use the scale step and place a large amount of the smallest block you can.

This is the first Let's Play of a game that I never took a break from watching or anything. the game is so.. Intriguing..
Man this is so nostalgic just to look back on how much you developed on this game then it was just forgotten barely any content about it is being posted I hope you see this comment and revive this series would make me very happy

Build a star destroyer or a Borg cube at some point!
Maybe a battle star Galactica ship.
_Ofenkartoffel_ as a former Star Trek nerd and current Star Wars nerd of this I immensely approve!
I can't remember the Borg cube being fast.
_Ofenkartoffel_ pppp
50 by 50 by 50 km cube? Well he'll have some mining waiting for him then.
This is everything a space game should be. It’s amazing how good this game is
Thanks for showing off your builds as you go about it. I was incredibly frustrated with this game's building mechanics at first and I quit a couple days after launch. I've now seen the power of this building system and will pick it back up as I watch your series from the top!

Im really glad you went with this as a series.
Cheers m8
I'm so glad Lath decided to make this a series, I can't wait to see more.
hey Lath, dont know if your gonna read this but The Xsotan is an Alien Race that was "Created" by the Event. They are only aggressive when you get close to them. I'm currently on a Lathrix video kick, I'm watching just about everything on the channel that is currently coming out... Thank you for this series!

For some reason the music makes me extremely happy. Makes me hopeful.

Salvaging Lasers are for getting RESOURCES from wrecks, you can still get modules and weapons if you blow them apart with your weapons!
JUST BOUGHT THIS GAME AND IT IS EVERYTHING I'VE DREAMED OF PLEASE DO MORE.
i just wanna say that i love you vids. keep on going
Thank you, glad you are enjoying them ^_^
Lathland I CHALLENGE YOU IN THE NAME OF THE GRAMPPA NURGLE BUILD THE TERMINUS EST
Patrick Smith - Remember you are talking to a follower of Chaos, your words mean little here.
Do multiplayer with aavak
i know but i just wanted to say it
:3
lathland I love your content. But I have been awake for the past 18 hours and you are the first voice I have heard in 8 hours. Bless your voice dude

ive been addicted to this game since i first saw it on this channel
you got my sub for being the first person I've seen to make a good looking ship on TH-cam
What I'd like to see in the game is the having to actually dock to edit the ship drastically. Then seeing it add the pieces that were placed down.
this man never gets old
This is actually a really good series lathrix, keep going 😀
I love how alive your channel is lath I have seen your growth since 23k and it's amazing
Glad to see more of this game... everytime I see it I want it more...
I have never been so absolutely excited for a series on this channel before. Godspeed, Lathrix!

Lathrix I loved this game since the first impressions
"Occasionally I have bursts of smart" - Lathrix, 2017.
Not sure if the devs intended it to be like that but the very harsh collision damage is actually realistic since at high speeds even a flek of paint can cause massive damage, goes without saying that hitting a space rock would be more so...
yes!!! I hope it will become the next from the depths for lathrix. because this is cool and sick as hell.
Effectivity on mining and salvaging turrets literally means the percentage how much you will get.
You've also got what I call "combat salvager" it is insanely fast, and consumes energy. There are salvage guns which does not consume energy, but slower. ;)

Synvy q
you know whats wired?
In english its called "sunfish" and in german its called "Mondfisch" (or englisch "moonfish") so its basically the opposite
You did a right thing to start a series of Avorion!
I love the background music of this game!
I would love a portable Lathrix to narrate everything I do in my life.
Fun fact: the smallest ship buildable at a shipyard is even smaller than the mining drone.
Not practical (too small to fit turrets) but adorable nonetheless.

This would be a neat game to come back to after 6 years
Ever since your various series on From the Depths and finding this gem of a Indie Game, I was hoping you would do this. Amazing! : )
Oh my god why am I just now hearing about this game??
please play this more, we need to get this game all the way through development :D
Thanks Lathrix for making this a thing!
Was asleep during the publishing of this..... YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! THANK YOU LATHPOTATO
This is the game Spore tried to be
And it would've gotten away with it too, if not for those meddling EA scumbags.
Watched the entire series when It came out now I'm watching it again while trying to get Avorion to work on my PC
omg an avorion lets ply
thank you lathrix! finally there's going to be an epic series on this! YAHOO!
Pirates are not always an enemy, you can actually start friendly with them and no one else though very rare
Lathrix. . . Building space boomerangs (The ship looks like a boomerang)
Now, I love the Brute design, it's fucking amazing in the later parts of this LP series.
But watching back, it makes me wonder what a Sunfish dreadnaught would look like
Suddenly had an idea of sealife based fleet of ships.
Megalodon Dreadnaughts
Support Pods (octopus or squid)
Sunfish Cruisers
Hammerhead Frigates
Marlin Fighters
Manta Bombers
That would be surprisingly effective for space combat
Lathrix! mining lasers and salvagers have an efficiency rating, better mining lasers and salvagers usually have around 30-35% efficiency.
and here i was trying to find a youtuber who is expert builder like me LMAO
didn't expect i will find the same guy, whose videos i used to watch for "from the depths"
Wow, that little thing looks a lot like a hammerhead from Freelancer... even has the engines in a vertical line
Hey Lath, Shipyards let you pay money and resources for pre-generated ship. For instance, if you pay $4000 and 1500 iron, you could get a small ship. In all honesty though, it would probably be better to hand craft your ships once you have got the hang of build mode (and know what most things do)
can't wait to watch more episodes on this
gonna be rewatching this, heres a comment
You know someone makes long vids when they say 30 minutes is short :D
The physicist in me is so triggered with those stats!
subscribed upon hearing ''doodle bobbers''
yes the more efficient your mining turrets the more resources you get you can see that presing p and holding your mouse on your weapons
shipyard allows to make ship if you dount what to make them manually and if you find a sector with ton of destroyed ships wich are not legal to salvage you should get the salvage licence from the station wich has a recycling icon you can get alot of modules and turrets to sell in this sectors

Avorion lets play?!?!
Time to whip it out :D
Last Shadow are you saying Avorion LP=Harambe?! *_mind blown_*
Wait wut...?
DICKS OUT FOR HARAMBE
Whip what out?
what I suggest is save up for better mining lasers, armor,or engines
you should put the mining lasers on the tips of the solar panels so you can have more lasers and it would look cool
just purchased this because of your videos. looks fantastic.
Love your vids. Fresh and no foul words (none that I heard of). I'm getting tired with all the foul words from other youtubers.
Mario Santoso its ok for a few but some youtubers do it to much
Every game you play, I end up buying :P
a tip for future builds: thrusters use surface area instead of size.
so do solar pannels... many small ones are much better than one big one of the same size
I didn't know that. Thanks.
Loving this game! Keep playing it please I love it!
This game has some inspiration from the X series by the looks.
I'm drawing that from how the stations talk to you when you contact them. "This is an automatic interaction system, how may we help you?"
Just got the game. Really enjoying it so far! :D Thanks Lath!
Please, don't stop playing this game. I know these types of comments are annoying but I can't afford it right now and I love your let's plays.
I think the "Efficiency" on miner lasers is the % you will get at the end.
this is like eve on steroids
more of this series please!
MOAR, oh yeah lath you may need to start building ships with bigger scales, when you do be sure they are at least naonite or trinium. oh yeah and only naonite and above has shields however titanium has armor.
I like the sunfish, the next vessle you make should keep the sea animal theme.
Yeah I would like to see a manta
or a Hammerhead, a front loaded attack craft.
call one the FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESH(like if you get the reference)
Sean Kim Wanderbots?
on your next ship make the core out of a huge battery surrounded by generators, then build your ship around that
Looking forward to this series
Hell Yeah! I was hoping for this!!
i like the ship design
Nice French boi. I guess you could say it was... fantastique.
