Great video. The Joe Louis segment was the 3 best minutes of any boxing tribute footage I've ever seen - simply sensational. It does make sense to have quite a few 190 - 210 pounders in there because this is the range where optimal power and leverage can be used to maximum advantage. The bigger guys struggle against their own levers and weight sometimes. Having said that, people like Joshua and the later day Foreman will always make these lists because the sheer size and explosiveness will be sufficient to annihilate anyone.

Yeah I thought he was wack because he faced mainly white fighters, unlike rocky Marciano who fought everyone. In an era with mediocre fighters though. But I changed my mind hoe Louis is a true champ. He was fast and strong and crafty too. I got caught up with what Ali said about Louis, how he’s slow and stiff. But if you pay attention he’s very agile. And he’s reflexes are impeccable. I never seen a hw like him. I thought Liston deserved to be higher because he was a monster, and Tyson because he was the greatest. But I decided this list is a great mesurement of all these great fighters accomplishments and strength.

Dempsey was a brutal fighter but idk if it was his punching power, rather his relentlessness. Earnie Shavers was specifically named as a harder puncher by several boxers who fought Foreman, including Ali. Marciano said the hardest puncher he faced was Jersey Joe Walcott, but he also fought (an older) Joe Louis, who’s power is a little overstated by his “bomber” moniker (that being said he was probably the best heavyweight boxer/fighter on that list. Lennox Lewis was not as well known for his power as a puncher as much as quite other few heavyweight boxers from his era (most of which he beat, however) and was even accused of having a “pawing” jab, so idk if he really deserves to be on this list.

Body blows, shots upstairs to head, straight right, overhand right, jab, hook, uppercut. ...you name it; Louis threw it in text book, step by step, proper fashion to do the most possible damage on your opponent. Nobody put his punches together in rhythm to hurt an opponent better than Joe Louis did.
Joe was taught by the legendary Jack Blackburn.
Best trainer in boxing history. Ray Arcel trainer of greats like Benny Leonard, Ezzard Charles, Larry Holmes, Roberto Duran, and many other terrific boxers praised Blackburn. So did Eddie Futch. Eddie sparred with Louis. Futch was fast and small compared to Louis, and Joe worked with Futch training to try to avoid punches. Sharpening his defensive skills and his reflexes.

Hardest Punchers of All Time (Based on Raw Power)
    1. Earnie Shavers - Labeled by boxing experts and boxers to be the hardest puncher of all time. Muhammad Ali who faced Liston, Foreman, Lyle, Frazier, and had a brief sparring with Marciano stated that Shavers hit the hardest among them. Holmes, Norton, Lyle, Cobb, Jimmy Young, and others boxers alll agree that Shavers hits harder than anybody including Foreman, Tyson, Lyle, and The Klitschkos
    2. Sonny Liston - The greatest slugger to have ever stepped in the ring. He is also known to possess the largest hands in boxing history. He is also the boxer with the hardest jab. His jab is capable of knocking out his foes and majority said that his jab was sinilar to a telephone pole. Ali, Wepner and other boxers who fought him stated that he hits harder than Foreman. Johnny Tocco, who worked with Foreman, Tyson and Sonny Liston, said of the three, Liston hit the hardest, and was the strongest. So did Emmanuel Steward, who said of Liston, "he was unbelievably strong, and his punching like a wrecking machine." He also has one of the hardest left hooks and right overhands im the history of boxing. Foreman said that he was forced to go on defensive in one of their sparring matches, considering that Liston was older than him that time. One of the most intimidating boxers past their prime. He is best known for knocking Floyd Patterson out.
    3. George Foreman - One of the scariest monsters in boxing history due to his size, durability and insane punching power. He is known for beating Frazier, Norton, and Moorer. He is also known for his brilliant slugfest with Lyle in which he won and his fight with Ali, Morrison, and Holyfield. He is the oldest boxer to have ever win in a boxing championship. According to Holyfield; Old George Foreman hit him harder than any of the opponents he's ever faced which includes: Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Buster Douglas, and Riddick Bowe. In his fight with the undefeated Joe Frazier who Ali, he caused an upset when he defeated Frazier by stoppage after knocking him down several times. Ken Norton a notable boxer puncher known for beating Ali, also got brutally knocked out by Foreman in the second round.
    4. Rocky Marciano - The greatest swarmer of all time and the only undefeated fighter in this list. With formidable punching power, insane stamina, and granite chin, he is known for beating legendary boxers; Joe Louis (though he was past his prime), Jersey Joe Walcott, Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore and more. He is best known for one of the most devastating punches ever thrown, which is his right cross aka Suzy Q to Walcott. He is also the only boxing champion in this list to have never been knocked out. Despite having the smallest arms in the heavyweight division and being one of the shortest boxers, he was able to knock most of his opponents out. His punching power was tested when the military conducted an experiment to measure the force of his punch. His punch according to the military was capable of piercing a military vest and has a strong force capable of knocking a refrigerator 10 feet away from him.
    5. Max Baer - probably the hardest puncher in his era. This guy killed some boxers in the ring, that is a testament of his punching power. It took someone like Joe Louis to beat him up, but he was already way past his prime that time and he had an injury that affected his performance in the ring that time. He knocked Max Schmelling out and ended a lot of boxer's career. According to Joe Louis, his right hand produced the strongest punch that ever hit him though it was after the bell rang. If not for his reluctance to knock most of his opponents out, he could have knocked more of them out or worse killed them. While he possesses one of the greatest right hands in boxing, he also has an underrated left hook which is responsible for some knockouts and even caused the death of Campbell - a boxer he fought.
    6. Ron Lyle - A hard puncher, a tough slugger, and a crowd pleaser, Lyle is one of the greatest boxers who has never won any championship. He is best remembered for his slugfest with Foreman. Even though Lyle lost to Foreman he is the only boxer who has ever knocked Foreman down twice and not because of exhaustion but because of his punching power. He also outslugged Earnie Shavers, who is considered to be the hardest puncher of all time. He was also notable for breaking Ali's nose in their fight even though he lost. One of the hardest punchers ever as stated by George Foreman.
    7. Mike Tyson - With incredible speed, power, and reflexes: Tyson is definitely one of the greatest boxers and heavy hitters of all time, especially in his prime years under Cus and Rooney. Even though he became a shadow of his own self later on (He lost his great reflex and discipline because of Don King) he was still a formidable puncher and the most intimidating boxer of all time. Whether it's a Left Hook, Gazelle Punch, Right Uppercut, or a Right Cross that hits you, you'll be down for the count. He can hit hard from both angles.
    8. Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko - The latest hardest punchers in the history of boxing. According to Freddie Roach, Wladimir's hands are heavier than Mike Tyson and he actually hits slightly harder than him, though this was in comparison to a washed out Tyson. Vitali on the other hand has a sharper punch than Foreman (though Foreman is already old and definitely way past his prime) according to Shannon Briggs. They would lose to other boxers in this list except for Shavers, since boxers back then have more durable chin and harder punching power.
    9. Lennox Lewis - One of the most complete boxers of all time. A renowned boxer puncher known for his boxing iq and punching power. He also defeated boxers like Holyfield, Vitali Klitschko, Tua, Morrison, and Mike Tyson (though Tyson was way past his prime). He is easily one of the greatest hevayweight fighters of all time. His long arms and accurate punches are the reason for his powerful punches.
    10. Joe Louis - The greatest boxer of all time as labelled by some boxing experts, no offense to Ali and Robinson. His punching power comes from his accurate, precise, and flawless punching style. One of the earliest boxer-punchers, his talent was ahead of his own time. Whether it's a jab, a hook or a cross, you don't want to get hit. In his prime, he was a force to be reckoned with and only Schmelling was able to beat him in his younger years. Louis later avenged his defeat by knocking out Scmelling in the first round in their rematch. This "Black Bomber" is considered to be a hero of the United States. While not as hard hitting as Foreman, Liston, and Shavers, he is probably the greatest puncher in boxing history.
    Honorable Mentions
    1. David Tua - a hard puncher, but known only for his left hook. His other punches are impressive, but not as impressive as the top 10.
    2. Joe Frazier - same as David Tua. Also a one armed cannon. He had the best left hook in history
    3. Gerry Cooney - Another one armed cannon. It's all left hook or nothing.
    4. Deontay Wilder - he needs to beat relevant opponents which possess great chin. It's way too early to rank him.
    5. Julian Jackson - I didn't include him, since boxers from the heavyweight division punch harder. Though p4p he could be the hardest puncher.
    6. Tommy Hearns - same reason as Julian Jackson
    7. Roberto Duran - same reason as Julian Jackson.
    8. Hasim Rahman - a powerful puncher indeed, but the top 10 contenders in this list have knocked more relevant people.
    9. Sam Langford - He is definitely one of the hardest punchers out there, but I didn't include him because he is smaller and lighter than these heavyweights.
    10. Jack Dempsey - I'll definitely place him in the top 10, but my gut tells me his punching power is inferior to the people in the list.
    11. Anthony Joshua - same reason as Deontay Wilder.
    12. Cleveland Williams - I'm not yet sure about him.
    13. Tommy Morrison - He hits hard, but not hard enough to be ranked alongside these ten fighters.
    14. Bob Foster - While he did hit hard, his punching power was at it's peak when he was below Heavy Weight.
    15. Archie Moore - Same reason as Bob Foster.

Great list. I would put Lyle in number 8 and get Louis out of the list. When it comes to raw power he didn’t have as much as other guys. He needed to be really accurate with his punches and make sure they landed on a vulnerable body part along with using proper form and technique to actually deal damage. Unlike for example Max Baer who didn’t care about anything and could still put men to sleep by just swinging his arms widely

I keep seeing people comment about how foreman or shavers or listen ect hit harder than luis or marciano ect.
but this list isn't just about punching power if you read the description it also takes accuracy, form, speed, and consistency into consideration . in example foreman had all the power in the world but he was slow so he loses some points there, and his form was somewhat wild his punches were not particularly crisp or well thrown he just had so much power it didn't matter most of the time. luis had every criteria checked to be the top of this list

  • @krl97a

Kudos for including Jim Jeffries, maybe the most underrated heavyweight champion in history, at least now. For decades after he retired he was considered the greatest. He's mostly remembered for the farcical match against Jack Johnson 6 years after he retired, when he was in horrendous shape. The guy was undefeated in his real career. Insanely fit, strong, and a great all around athlete, the 6'1/2" 225 lbs Jeffries was a lefty who fought orthodox and had tremendous power. The match against Johnson is the one that should be dismissed. Even Johnson later said Jeffries was the greatest. His utter domination during his career should be his primary legacy. Jess Willard, a freakishly strong working cowboy who unfortunately killed an opponent with a brutal shot, deserves a mention too.

    • @TFB97
      @TFB97 2 ปีที่แล้ว

The guy had about 10 fights mate and only knocked people out very late, rarely had early knockouts, no way he should be on this list, over people like Frazier, Tua and Klitschko. But a great video nonetheless 👌🏻

    • @krl97a
      @krl97a 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@TFB97 Wrong, lol. He officially had a couple of dozen, a lot more overall, winning most in knockouts, and had the record for fastest knockout in a lineal heavyweight title fight (55 seconds). Sure some went late rounds but that's true of Ali, Marciano, and Foreman too. The guy retired undefeated champion and was famous for his punching power, even if it was more that of a strong, plodding thumper than a dynamic, lightning style. It's not just about how fast you score KOs. An even stronger case can be made for him being on an "underrated" list, but his inclusion here is legit too.
