Benchmade all the way. The full size Crooked River is an awesome knife for many purposes, including EDC. Razor sharp out of the box, completely solid, no play at all (either up/down or side to side). Once you get the hang of the Axis lock, flicking this knife open is ultra fast and just as fast to close. The “Diamond Wood” composite material is beautiful to look at (flashbacks of the Buck 110 Folding Hunter) and great hand-feel. It is a keeper for life. Cannot miss purchase.

Benchmade Crooked River for me. Love the look of it. Thanks for another awesome video David and Knife Center.

I have the smaller versions of both. For EDC I just don't need that much blade and for the Outdoors I always carry a fixed blade. It would be hard for me to choose between the two. But if I had to it would probably be the Benchmade.

I hardly ever carry the military anymore. My customized crooked river however I carry often. It's a good big edc.

Nice review of details, as usual. Kind of an apples/oranges comparison, though. Not sure why you didn't compare the Military to one of the Benchmade Black class tacticals, like the 810 Contego, or the 980 Turret, maybe.

Nice to get a concise, yet comprehensive pair of reviews! I have a serrated Military, but small hands, so will chase a smaller ParaMilitary or the Mini Crooked River? Thanks again for a polished presentation.

Hey Knifecenter, would you be able to commission somenof Spyderco's Golden models in Rex45 and some sort of wood for the handles?

The Benchmade is pretty, but the Spyderco is a phenomenal user. I'd rather own the military.

Military also is $30 bucks cheaper and about an ounce and a half lighter. I'll also just about always prefer a full flat grind too.

I like both but only have the Military in S110V. Its light weight for its size and comfort make it the perfect EDC

Im a fan of both , and a previous owner of the Military. That being said I'd take the Benchmade. Its a beautiful knife . Amazing build quality. A good comparison would be the Cold Steel Recon in S35VN. It's a great blade

I own a crooked river and there's never any blade play, it's rock solid and razor sharp. Benchmade for me is better. I like the shape of the blade and color of the scales.

Ergonomics on the spyderco are far superior. A large variety of supersteels can be had with the Military like Rex 45 which can't be had with the benchmade. The crooked river is more of a stylized folder whereas the Military is function first and looks second.

not even comparable knifes when it comes to material and build quality, the profit margin must be sweet on that spyderco :D

Crooked river all day every day. Is a better knife overall. I customized mine taking off the bolsters and having all lengt g10 scales. Now is the only folder I use.

Love fingerchoils so spyderco all day for me... The spyderco Shaman would have probably been a better comparison, that's a big hard working knife...

I have both of these. Funny thing is i found my spyderco military at the beach in the sand :) i have a full size G10 crooked river and its not really for me. Will probably be posted on reddit for trade :)

Hands down the Crooked River is a better looking knife and the build quality is superb. Seeing that I own both knives, I will say that the military is a better performer at slicing and piercing task, given its full flat ground blade. I have the Millie in BG42 & S110V and those blades will breeze through any material and hold an edge. Imagine a world with a Millie equipped with an axis lock or even a compression lock, and equipped with a DLC coated Maxamet blade. Wouldn't that be a sight?
