    I always look forward to your videos Darren. I love how you anchored that with the steel bar! Never seen that before! Looking forward to seeing how this tree develops!

      Thanks Adam, means a lot from you. Yeah I’m still learning rebar techniques. Mirai Live is probably best if you want to know more

    Thanks - I haven’t found much info on hemlocks. I bought several from a nursery going out of business, and trying to learn from my own observations and experiments. This video confirmed some of my findings and answered many other questions I was still working on.

      Thanks Rafi! Me too tbh, just wish I could work faster, it was ready for a full styling really. Do you think I could have gotten away with wiring out the secondaries and pruning accordingly - and still repotted in 2024? (I had to give up my Mirai sub due to money issues so can't ask RN)

    • @rafi_N
      @rafi_N ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you did the right thing my friend. I have a hemlock that I styled after repotting and it had a serious reduction of foliage and it took a while to recover, now it is filling up quite robustly, once they start growing they do it fast so I think it is best if you keep most foliage to help recover from the repot and then style next summer if the recovery from the repot goes smoothly. It will ultimately be faster.

    Nice video mate. The tree is a monster size, I wouldn't want to carry it to work table alone myself.

    Love it. I have a much smaller hemlock that looks like that (white new growth) called: Tsuga, Canadian Hemlock 'Gentsch White'

    • @grobonsai
      @grobonsai  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cool! I’ve not seen many round here. No idea what species variety this is beyond hemlock! I bet the white contrast really beautifully

    Beautiful styling. It looks like the middle of this tree is still way too dense and will most likely shade out any remaining low branches. Why don't you think the foliage more to allow light to penetrate?

    • @grobonsai

    I’ve been wanting to see an update on that tree! It looks nice, wondering what it will be like completely styled.
