Awesome video! I have an addiction to these trees. I live in Europe, but am originally from Aruba. Aruba is hardiness zone 13. I want to plant one of these Pafra trees into the ground in Aruba and see if it flowers there. From my knowledge, they only flower in South Africa in nature. Is it true that once potted in whatever pot, whether it’s a bonsai pot or a regular nursery one - it won’t flower?
Thanks for the support! I had a Spekboom in a 5L bag that did flower once. I can't say for a fact what causes it to flower, but what I did notice in the field and the specific one in the soil bag that flowered, was that it was kind of suffering. Leaves were shriveled up (I forgot to water it), full sun and hot weather. Same for the Spekboom I saw flowering in nature, it's always after a very hot and dry period. And it makes sense to me then why it don't flower for us bonsai people, cause we water it regularly 😂 In summary, I believe it's: 👉Time of the year 👉Conditions (hot, warm, dry)
From now on I call my jades "Spekboom". Groeten uit Belgie!
lekker man, lekker! Thanks for an easy to follow video for dummy bonsai pupil...that's me🙂
