Amazing what Americans would do to find work during the depression. My grandma told me lots of stories of men that would come up on her property and work for food and a place to sleep. Can't imagine how Johnny Cash's dad would have felt riding through the freezing cold on top of a boxcar for the hope of earning a little to take care of his family.
