      I appreciate your style of videos, the fact that what happens has some explanations that we might not otherwise get. The videos I'm
      not a fan of are ones where a Driver has a new cam & are looking to provide footage to the extent that they'll drive into a situation
      where they could have slowed down or changed lanes safely but don't. They stay the course to hold their lane & make a video as
      they cuss a driver. Those type videos show the driver possibly causing an accident or adding to it when they had time to avoid it?
      Anyhoo, enough of my critique.... peace

    3:48 Whether lane splitting is legal or not, and regardless of any extenuating circumstances, in my opinion if you are lane splitting and have an accident you are AUTOMATICALLY in the wrong. It (lane splitting) is just too damn dangerous to be practiced unless all vehicles are at a full stop and even then it is questionable. A motor bike is "just" another vehicle and should be obeying the same laws set out for all vehicles. Sorry if you're a biker and disagree with me...I'd love to ride a bike but at my age and health it isn't possible. Still, survival of the fittest.

    • @TxH666

    • @olepigeon
      @olepigeon 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Or how about you check your mirrors _before_ changing lanes. Then you won't hit the motorcyclist. Furthermore, motorcyclists aren't "crying" about other people watching out for them, it's because it's literal life & death situation.
      I don't understand the cavalier attitude that the average car, pickup, and SUV drivers have towards motorcyclists. When you hit them, there's a very real possibility they will die. They don't have a steel cage and airbags to protect them. So when it comes to motorcyclist, I give them a lot of leeway. I don't care if what they're doing is legal or not, I just don't want to have their death on my conscience when it could have been easily avoidable just by developing good driving habits.

    • @TxH666
      @TxH666 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +31

      @@olepigeon Believe me, I DO check my mirrors before merging. And I am a safe and very alert driver. But even still, if someone is lane splitting, going 20+mph faster than surrounding traffic (which most of them do, let's be honest), you're not going to see them in that split second that you're looking in your mirror/ over your shoulder the vast majority of the time. And it's unreasonable to expect people to do that. We shouldn't be expected to be able to pick out the 1 motorcyclist hauling ass down the middle of traffic when we simply want to change lanes.
      As you said, they don't have a steel cage and airbags surrounding them in the event of a crash. Which is exactly why it should be on THEM to not do stupid things like lane splitting, going 100+mph down the freeway in and out of cars, etc. Here in Phoenix, that's how 99% of bikers ride. So I don't feel bad if they get hit. That's on them. A) nobody made them get a more dangerous vehicle. B) nobody made them drive like idiots with their more dangerous vehicle.

      Lane splitting can be safe, but the motorcyclist has to have low enough relative speed to slow down if the idiot in the car doesn't look in the mirrors and start changing the lane. Just blanket statement that it is death wish is idiotic.
      But yeah phones and drivers are more dangerous to others.
      At 15:00 lane splitting could have avoided the motorcyclist crash. On a motorcycle if you brake you basically go straight... So you have to choose either braking or swerving. In a lot of cases swerving can be safer, but swerving doesn't lose speed, so if it is bad choice then on crash you get more injuries. It seems the motorcyclist tried to brake and go between the lanes, but ended up going straight into the back of the car.

      @@Blahblahblah33338texting while driving is illegal yet people still do it. If car drivers would pay attention while driving, then lane splitting on certain conditions wouldn't be a problem. I lane splitting at red lights because idiots on phones don't notice me stopping in front of them as much as they notice other cars. In one year 3 times the case where I have lane splitted between cars just to hear someone's brakes as they suddenly notice the traffic has stopped... I don't want to be sandwiched between 2 cars because someone is not paying attention to traffic and are interested in their tik toks or whatever else.
      But I take into account that car drivers might not check mirrors constantly, so relative speed has to stay low enough and it is crazy to lane split with even urban speed limits. Standstill traffic, like at traffic lights is not much of a problem.

The car he had overtaken blew his horn and went after him....two police officers in uniform in a private car on their way to a training course at the nearby training school. He took off and I followed. They couldn't get near him but I could. I blocked him in traffic about two miles further on and I showed him my warrant card telling him to wait for the officers. @@davemceachran8788 nothing wrong with lane splitting but most of these guys are doing it wrong. You're not supposed to exceed more than 10mph speed difference between yourself and other vehicles and you should never do it while traffic is moving at normal highway speeds (which means you are speeding excessively if in CA). Furthermore situational awareness is required, like understanding where the sun is, how visibility is affected in corners, and keeping an eye out for gaps in the traffic and people signalling to get into those gaps.
      This was a low skilled rider who did none of those things. Additionally it's clear he doesn't have the fundamentals of accident avoidance down like covering the brakes, progressive braking and lower speed maneuvering.

      @@ThatMeansHesMad it's not really about rushing actually and being stuck in congestion isn't "waiting in line", thats just a pointless belief.
      First motorcycles, particularly ones that are purely air cooled can get really hot and overheat while sitting in traffic. There is no air to move over them. There is also more mechanical wear and tear. Second by allowing them to lane split you are taking one more vehicle out of the stop and go traffic easing congestion. Finally getting stuck in stop and go traffic on a motorcycle can be exhausting for the rider after a while. It's more strenuous than driving a car and a lot more manual operation of the vehicle.
      There are practical reasons for lane splitting but as I've said there are rules and guidelines to follow to stay safe.

      Yes, the rotary is too small. There should be an island in the middle with proper signage making people go around it. A 3 way stop won't work because there is a 4th side street coming out to it.

      Look at the street lamp on the left, there's a sign indicating a mini-roundabout (white arrows on blue disc) also Give Way and a 30 mph speed limit sign. Looks like too many people are used to racing through it. Speed bumps or a speed platform/table might help but I've seen idiots take them too fast as well.

    I absolutely CANNOT STAND when bikers try and ride the middle between congested traffic on the highway. They are just asking to be severely injured or killed. Especially, at the speeds they think they can go weaving around cars. But if someone pulls out like that truck did forget it. You want to ride a bike then LEARN how to drive it safely. There are far more cars and trucks on the road. And in my personal opinion we have the right of way you need to heed us if you value your lives.

    • @Fluffyorca
      @Fluffyorca หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It's called lane splitting, and there are studies showing it is both safer and less safe for motorcyclists. A motorcyclist is more likely to be killed waiting at an intersection or in stop-and-go traffic because drivers who aren't paying attention will rear-end them. This can throw them from their bikes, push them into other vehicles, or into an active intersection, etc, and they don't have the luxury of four walls and air bags to protect them.
      However, in places where lane splitting is legal (and there aren't many in the US), there is usually a cap on how much faster you can travel than the traffic around you, I think it's usually no more than 10 mph. So if traffic is at a standstill, you can split lanes going about 10 mph. The motorcyclist in that clip was traveling excessively fast, I'll agree with that, but I've also seen plenty of cars/trucks change lanes without signaling or checking their mirrors or blind spots, and even seen videos where lane splitting is completely legal and cars/trucks will purposefully turn their vehicle so it blocks the lines because they don't feel a motorcyclist should be allowed to pass since THEY have to wait in traffic. It's entitlement, share the road, you're not a cop, and you're all going to get where you're going when you do.
      None of this would be necessary, however, if drivers paid better attention on the road. Cars do not automatically "have the right of way," they need to obey traffic laws just as much as they expect motorcyclists or cyclists to. Your mentality is basically "our vehicles are bigger so get out of the way," and that's just not how it works. And again, despite there being more cars and trucks on the road, there are still motorcycles, and car and truck drivers need to be watching for them as well, not just throwing their hands up saying "well why didn't they just get out of my way?!?!?"
      Learn to share the road, folks, and stop taking everything on the road so personally.
