Also I'm in the Dorset area of the UK. We have hard hard water down here, not sure where you are, but do you have to use RO or are you using rain or just lucky enough to have soft water?
Mixture of collected rainwater that goes through the RO/DI + carbon filter and then normal hard UK water (Oxfordshire, so Thames Water) to keep the hardness up and stop PH crashes. I found if you have anything larger than a 120 litre it's worth it to get a cheap RO/DI setup as the barrels are heavy and can really add up in price after a few months!
@inthebagtropicalfishuk yeah pretty much what I'm doing right now. Great if you have rift lake cichlids which i have a few. But if I could only keep one fish it's apistos a fish I find really hard to keep for a long time because of water quality.
