A Marvin Classic Gem. It's not out there with his most famous hits . Marvin got into a space and became ahead of his time musically. I know someone is going to tell you. if you don't already know, Oh you already know🤣😅 I think I might have already said something 🤣😅
In my top 3 Marvin hits. I consider him to be one of the best to ever do it. If you ever come across the recording of just the vocals including him layering his voice for the harmonies in this song, you’ll have a greater appreciate his prowess. RESPECT to Mr. Gaye. Loved your reaction.
I love this song! He’s right too, ‘Don’t play with somethin, you should cherrish for life.” This is when maken love meant somethin and it wasn’t just somethin to do when one was in the mood treating you like you were a playtoy. I love the rythm, lyrics and everything. I also love slow jams period. And, what ever happened to when music set the mood for everything?
Rest up to the Prince of Soul ✊ Mr. Marvin Gaye🙏 Too bad Unc felt unloved and unhappy not knowing how much he's loved by his fans. When Marvin did this Gem he was dealing with 2 divorces, taxes, Beef with Motown, not to mention a cocaine addiction. Thru it all I love Marvin and can never turn my back on Marvin hope he found that Eternal Peace he so greatly deserved 😞
Like everyone else has commented Madonna has done a cover of I Want You in 1995. Still have another 5 years to go! Also the song was co-written by Miss Ross’ brother and in turn she has done a version as well.
I must say Mr. Marvin Gaye's musical genius comes across as bright as the noon day Sun, on this and also on "What's Going On" album. I was listening to the entire album from my pop's vinyl and the whole album is smooth as silk and pleasurable to listen to ... the 70s music was soulfully magical and so well put together like the delectably prepared "9-course meal" ... just saying!
Worth noting, Empress, that I WANT YOU was written by Diana Ross' brother T Boy and she remade it on her 2006 "I Love You" album - reportedly - so his family could get an influx for the estate (T Boy was killed in 1998). He had a solo Motown album as well - in 1979 or so. Unsung. His son was in the audience when Ross was featured for two hours on Inside The Actors studio in 2006 - around the I Love You CD release.
I came for the Madonna journey, and stayed for the great reactions to other great music. I loved this song long before Madonna covered it, and although Marvin's version is by far my favorite, Madonna does it justice- twice! She actually has two different versions, one with just strings and it's haunting and gorgeous, in my opinion. My favorite lyrics in this song are: "To share is precious- pure and fair." We share the music we like and Empress shares her reactions and thoughts. . . and that is precious. I love it. . . and I love Marvin Gaye! He has so much incredible music. . . and that perfect voice was. . . just perfect. Sad end for such a beautiful talent. 💙🎶✌🙏🙌
So weird you cannot have never heard this....the breaks show up in alot of modern songs too. After the dance is his best jam imo.....you do yo thang well, don't stop
@@EmpressReacts Yeah, have a listen. Robert Palmer was a really soulful guy - for an English white boy. Here's the link to the video, but the live version on some American show is better, because he's showing his courage covering a giant like Marvin Gaye in front of a live studio audience. Enjoy x th-cam.com/video/RMT-oiiY7DE/w-d-xo.html
Madonna covered this song for her ballads greatest hits ''Something to Remember'' in 1995. She including many ballads of her career like ''Rain'' and ''Crazy For you'', but recording four songs for this compilation. Marvin Gaye have a tragic life and have also a tragic death, since he was murdered by his father in 1984 at 44 years old. Her mother left his father after the murderer and never spoke again for his father after the murder of his son until her death in 1987.
Marvins words don't even effect this woman , being as pretty as she is, she's used to all men begging and groveling at her feet expressing how much they want her.
Unbeatable intro - WHAT a song...........
One of the coldest songs ever recorded!!
🔥
EVER. Like how did we get blessed with sublime instrumentation like this? 😍😍😍
Indeed

Robert Palmer unforgivably blows the lyrics, "replacing" 'but half a love is all I feel' with "your happiness is all I crave." NOOOO!
Hey this song was in the back ground on my phone calls when I was youngl😉

Como live with me angel is a banger tooo plus it was sampeled by g unit back in 03

Sadly Marvin Gaye's father shot and killed him on April 2, 1984.
