The first time I ever listened to this album was on an 8Track. Even though at the time, I really didn't understand the true implications of the lyrics; I was an extremely impressionable, frustrated, naive, over- protected and lonely 16 year old girl living on an isolated farm in Alabama ..Each song on that album took me somewhere away from there..I don't think all of me ever came back..Listening to I WANT YOU still has the same intense effect on me each time I listen to it..even to this day..48 yrs later.. ❤ Thanku Marvin

This album's cover is the one and same used for the "Good Times" sitcom I didn't realize it then bc I was teeny bopping that the album's cover as well as all its song's would become iconic.... so glad I was a part of that history in the making audio and visually speaking.... "Ain't I lucky we had em, good times".... yeah 🎉💯💪🏿
Yo sister, I declare I will never stop lovin' that man too. Every time I put on his tracks, he keeps givin' love out to each and every one that hears it, feels it and knows it for real
One of the BEST MALE SINGERS; of ALL TIME! Never be another Marvin, NEVER. This Song makes me 😢so much. Was listening to it over and over when I FIRST WANTED HIM. (not Marvin)
This song got me through the pits of solitary confinement in the Florida State Penitentiary. Marvin's voice/the drums/the guitar licks.. its embedded into my soul, those quiet nights, all alone and missing my mother/kids/and family. Thanks Marvin for this beautiful classic..[posted February 20, 2018]
Ah, dude that's so deep. Man, I'm glad you're out and are ok..Glad you had Marvin during what had to be a difficult and terrible time. Welcome home. Damn, I feel your pain.
I'm a white guy who became soulful on the inside after listening to this album time and time again. It's now 2021 and it's just as fresh as when I heard it the first time.
It's amazing how music can unite us as humans, I'm an Iraqi with different culture and traditions and music, yet I'm here enjoying this masterpiece with millions of people around the world... Magical isn't it?
I listen to this, and other marvn Gaye s music before going to sleep too. Its calming, and it takes me back when this was first out,and I was a young person that could nt get enough of his music.
Marvin Gaye was/is still the epitome of sexuality personified...His music is what true lovemaking is all about...Marvins music 🎶 touches you like no one can✌🏾Still enjoying 2021💕💕💕
THIS MAN PASSED WHEN I WAS 15 YEARS OLD, I CAME HOME DOR 3 DAYS AND MY MOMA WAS CRYING EVERYDAY, BY DAY 3 I'M AGRAVATED AND SAID TO MY LITTLE BROTHER "WHY THE HELL IS SHE CRYING DAMN?" BY THE TIME I TURNED 30 I TRULY UNDERSTOOD WHY SHE WAS SO UPSET!!! THIS MAN WAS IN A LEAGUE BY HIMSELF STILL TO THIS DAY.
I need to climb inside Marvin's head when he was writing this song. This song right here is one of the best of its kind. Hands down. The arrangement the lyrics...everything, Flawless victory.
You would have to credit Leon Ware with writing this gem. Berry Gordy heard his demo and thought it would be great for Marvin. Leon Ware was a talent in his own right and even worked with Maxwell on Urban Hang Suite
@@shandrathompson3034okay now that makes perfect sense. This and Maxwell's music gives off the same vibe. Makes me feel high, naked and beautiful in raw form....if that makes sense lol
@@shandrathompson3034 Many don't know or give Leon Ware his props. This entire album was his but decided. To give the project to Marvin. The rest as they say is history.
love this song but this is not hard to write lol. Some of the most straightforward love lyrics that someone could literally freestyle. If you want to hear more "abstract" writing listen to Frank Ocean
I'm a random chilean guy that grew up in a Scandinavian country. Been listening to Marvin since my teens. He has shaped me to a certain degree. I'm just happy he ever existed. And this is my favourite song followed by inner city blues. One of the greatest of all time.
This is Marvin’s best single bar none. Just listen to the first 77 seconds and you are hooked. I love every track Marvin Gaye has ever recorded, but this does something to me that none of the other track does. Maybe it’s depth. It’s short, and kind of rushed (but it wasn’t) and I never want it to end. I cannot listen to it once. I always replay it. It’s a masterpiece. You have to listen to it, not sing along with it to appreciate it. Then sing along with it. Those who love and appreciate the track will get what I mean.
I remember when this first came out, remember the album cover in the store called Gibsons in McKinney, Texas. For years this was my favorite Marvin tune. I fine myself doing the back ground vocals which just add so much to the song. What a tortured soul, but the great one's seem to be that way sometimes. They see things we can't, but the spotlight gets so hot that they literally melt.
"Don't play with something you should cherish for life." One of the best lines ever
That's wisdom you can take to the bank.

One point lika-MuhhFuQka!
The background vocals is what drawn us here😍😍😍
This album's cover is the one and same used for the "Good Times" sitcom I didn't realize it then bc I was teeny bopping that the album's cover as well as all its song's would become iconic.... so glad I was a part of that history in the making audio and visually speaking.... "Ain't I lucky we had em, good times".... yeah 🎉💯💪🏿
One of His Greatest Songs Ever. I'll never stop loving Marvin Gaye!!

@richardplume3212 Grow up. Segregation is a completely natural thing. Appreciating one's own race does no harm to those of other races.

Man, this is absolutely of the most beautiful songs ever written. ❤
My God what a song. This is the definition of music. I bow to this mans talent
It's more than talent , good call tho) it's ah wholeness in person
"I WANT YOU THE RIGHT WAY" THAT'S DEEP 🔥🔥🔥
We gotta appreciate music like this .......cause it’s never going to get good as this ....
If you appreciate this music, than you might appreciate this guy music (Howard Hewett)song entitled.....This Love Is Forever.
Cocaine is hellova drug
AMEN, AMEN, AMEN
Hugs for you from 🇨🇱
Chilean the grew up on the west coast of Canada and I love Marvin Gaye since I was a kid.🇨🇱🇨🇦

Live on Marvin.
Gotta listen to Marvin with ya eyes closed! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is literally the best song I have ever heard OMG I love Marvin Gaye
“don’t play with something you should cherish for life” 🖤
Hello friend, how're you doing today??
‼️‼️ I ABSOLUTELY UNDERSTAND AND FEEL YOU‼️ 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️‼️
Listen to heavy love affair
It's got a depth you don't here very often. Still gets me just like it did the first time I heard it.
Oh it does not take me 77 seconds to be hooked
😊he was definitely one of my all time favorites❤
R.I.P too the legend I'm 19 years old but I still listen to the classics this was way before Hip Hop
Maaan this here is on an eternal level ;)
M.O.D Entertainment you are fortunate to get it...kudos to your parents..blessings to you young soul
The background vocals are perfect and the music....almost like he is whispering..
Genius
His voice is foreplay. 😊
Don't play with something you should cherish for life. Words to live by. Love is forever wise and hatred is foolish.
Still listening in 2019🎶💕 Marvin Gaye you are so deeply missed💕
