Yes, I knew about Marvin dating and having a child by teenaged Jan Hunter. I guess I never fully reconciled that. I was born in 1971. As a small child, I remember seeing Marvin perform on Soul Train singing Distant Lover. I fell head over heels in love with this man and every since, have been relentless in finding out everything about him, good or bad. And still, I love his music and love him ......And I always will. But I believe in forgiveness and Marvin had a lot of trauma in his life since childhood and I’m sure he didn’t address many things in his life that he should have, but he deserves all the accolades for his music. I love his music.
Poor Marvin. I had a similar childhood and understand how much that must have affected him. I didn´t stop hurting until I ended contact with my parents. Anyway, love you Karine! You made such an excellent point about generational trauma.

Girl, you've really outdone yourself 😃. Marvin is my absolute FAVE and you did such a wonderful job at tastefully telling his story. The entire "What's Going On" album is ONE of the recording industry's, best albums of all times (in my humble opinion.) Sadly, our people have been and still are consumed by decades of trauma and pain that has never and unfortunately will never get the proper addressing or care. During Marvin's time and especially during his father's time, the only thing that was often expressed was misplaced anger. In my opinion, that's what Marvin Sr. has dealt with his entire life and unfairly Marvin was at the receiving end. Lacking the know how is what leads us all to detrimental behavior. There are no winners but Marvin's music did what he was sent to this earth to do; his flame has forever ignited pathways to love, healing and peace for those of us with open ears and hearts. ♥♥♥
It's been 40 years. Let Marvin Gaye rest peacefully. God knows he wasn't at peace when he was here. He had his flaws yet he will ALWAYS be a PIONEER. Marvin's music is FOREVER. Purple Snowflakes is HIGHLY recommended. 😔🙏🏾❤️🕊️

I absolutely loved Marvin Gaye’s music. I’m much younger than he, but like you Karine, I’ve always loved old music. I read David Ritz’s book as a teenager in one day. That’s just how enthralled I was about Marvin. On another note, thank you so much for changing and lowering the background music so we can hear you better and it’s not competing with your voice. I just learned that sometimes idols have clay feet
I was working the night shift at General Foods when I got the news. 😭💔
I agree with your sister it’s true and that’s still go on Today is so many broken people in the world and what I mean is it’s just been passed down to generation to generation. I pray for all😘🦋
May he rest in eternal peace, let’s always continue appreciate the powerful messages he left in his music for us, words of wisdom never die 💯
So much talent. I loved the 8:25 Whats Going On album, his BEST IMO. RIP MARVIN GAYE😢❤ ✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👼🎤🎹🎶🎵❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This was devastatingly sad- i remember when he was killed we were sitting down at the dinner table watching the evening news when his death was announced - my father was in shock over it - he could not wrap his head around a father murdering his own child
Another great and revealing video on a legend. And Hollywood and the music industry STILL is crooked and evil, and even more so.
His daughter Nona gaye is so pretty!
Side note nba young boy has facial structure like his. The one side profile photo of younger him, Pple be relatives all through entertainment Field.
Omg yess!!! NBA young boy really does have a resemblance to him. Wow
Never ever would judge you for liking old school music. I’m 46, I love alll kinds of music, old and new. My 17 year old son though, he’s an old souls like you. He loooooves alll kinds of music from waaaay back before all of us. I love it so much. ❤ I love your videos Karina! ❤
Such a talent,very sad story.
😒🙏🏼Amen! First off, empathy is usually the first thing to go out the window when folks hear what he did. But I believe in forgiveness and Marvin had a lot of trauma in his life since childhood and I’m sure he didn’t address many things in his life that he should have, but he deserves all the accolades for his music. I love his music.
He had unhealed trauma. Absolutely. No doubt. A phenomental artist. The best. Mercy mercy me.
Rest Peacefully always & forever!! Mr Marvin Gaye🙏🏽💝💯💔❤️🩹🙏🏽
God is Able!!!
❤My favourite Male Artist
He is my favorite too, since I was 10
Love all the stories, I’m never bored 😑
Very talented ❤️🌺🌷RIP Marvin. Still listen to his songs. Seeing his dad in a dress was something else. Wasn’t his Dad a preacher.
Yes he was!
Poor Marvin. I had a similar childhood and understand how much that must have affected him. I didn´t stop hurting until I ended contact with my parents. Anyway, love you Karine! You made such an excellent point about generational trauma.
His music are such as a timeless. R.I.P. 🙏🏽🩷
What???? How did I not know this, this is so absolutely tragic. Thank you for sharing his story. I had absolutely no idea.
Love this. 36 year old white midwest girl, love this genre of music-touches a special place in my soul. Thanks for all the work you do, so interesting to here the backstory of legends!
Inner City Blues my favorite song by him too !! Love the bassline. The Tribe interpolated it in "Youthful Expression" and Tanin Mauri used it as an illusion in "Damn"
Mz. Alourde! Thank you for this💚 ... I have never contemplated somebody's salvation more than I do Marvin Gaye's. I sincerely hope he made it
We as individuals have to work on our own personal salvation..All of us has to give an account on judgment day 🙏 ❤ RIP Marvin Gaye ❤
I love when I finish a new mental gems to come over here to a new video 😊

@@KarineAlourde🚬👴🏿🥃DOROTHY DANDRIGDE I LOVE ❤️ U SO MUCH.
LEGEND! 🤎🤎
All motown artists were so well spoken
Yessssss thank you for using my suggestion!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉 I'm looking forward to this!
Hope you like it! 💖💖✨
@@KarineAlourde I am enjoying it! I am an old soul. I love his music.
Thank you for another beautifully crafted piece ❤ life can be complex and messy I think your research is sound and your opinions are fair. Looking forward to another piece ❤
Thank you so much! 🫶🏾💖✨
😳 ANDY? THELMA LOU?
@@KarineAlourdeDOROTHY DANDRIGDE WAS A GREAT GREAT ENTERTAINER OF THE FIRST ORDER.
I was 3 when he died but for some odd reason I remember this being on the news when it happened.
Great improvement 👏🏽👏🏽
Can you do Tammy Terrell? Love this ❤️
This story always teaches me never to try and validate myself through anyone not even my Parents
Right. The man is not here to defend himself. Tacky Gossip
He told his own story in his biographies and many interviews!!! You sound crazy
The ultra funny 85 South Show podcast always has the same photo of Marvin Gaye in the background so I had to watch this video! Oh and how wild they just posted a video minutes after you posted this video.
I totally understand how having a unconventional name can be devastating.
I went to school w/ a girl who had the last name Roach
