    Bluetooth and Wifi do not incur roaming but the Bluetooth can connect to your devices such as headphones, airpods and such without roaming also. My iPhone 13 does not turn off wifi or bluetooth in airplane mode, only cellular. This may simply be an upgrade since you put out this very helpful video. Thanks, as always.

    That was helpful. I use to turn my phone completely off which wasn't a good idea because when I would turn it on of course I was connected and all these messages and emails would pop up. Thank goodness we were back in the states.

    This was etremely helpful. I had seveal briends get caught up having to pay killer bills, so I was so paranoid that I just left my cell at phone when I travelled. I wasn't going to be calling anybody from overseas anyway. Now with a cruise coming up they are doing that "you have to have a cell phone so that we an communicute with you" and I wondered how I was going to deal deal with that. I LOVED that method of them sliding under the door late at night wiritten guide to ALL the things that were going to go on that next day...every kind of activity known to man and I would read everything, drooling like a hunger man reviewing a a smorgasbord.
    On my last cruse, they dispensed with the witten news and presented it on the television. Not as good as the paper, but at least usable. Now with this yet another ruin of things that I liked in life, I have deal with cell phone roaming. I am one (if there are any others) who actually hate their cell phones. My nose is directed out the the world around me, not buried into a screen helded in a little box.
    Thankfully, you came to my rescue with this! While my nose will never be glued to a box, I at least will know all that is going on during the trip. I'd still rather have the little paper books slipped in under the door, but I guess we can't everything we want, can we? Thank you very much for your help, here, with this and so many other things! Greeeeat Crooooosing!

    Thanks for all the great info. I was once one of those people who got hit by BIG charges when my Alaska cruise went past Canada - on the way to Alaska. AT& T kept texting me to get in touch with them - which I couldn’t do until I got to Juneau! They did remove the charges - I learned about airplane mode & then I was able to use my phone as a camera!! On my last cruise I still got a charge for $1.36 for data - but I think it was for my iPad (which I forgot to put on airplane mode for about the first 5 minutes after the ship sailed away from Port Everglades)! I also know to not try to make a phone call if the top left corner of my iPhone says “Maritime at Sea”!! When I was in port - it switched back to AT&T, but I didn’t need to make any calls while cruising!

    We do a lot of overseas travelling so I always contact AT&T for an international package of data and minutes, or calls. Because we will send pictures to family along the way, this is a good option. Costs very little. Also, keeps from having mistakes with turning on roaming by accident.

I have an Android and have always turned it off or on airplane mode and left it in the safe, but will be on some Princess Medallion cruises and want to use the phone and ship Wi-Fi to take advantage of the cool stuff the Ocean Medallion allows. I went to Mexico and I have a 12.00 per day roaming plan. I did not get any large charges and I posted on Facebook. For those using an iPhone the step mentioned at 3:42 is for iPhone 8 and older models. If you're on an iPhone X and trying to access Control Center, swipe down from the top right. The rest is the same from there.
    Don't forget to also turn on your Bluetooth connection if you're using an Apple Watch, AirPods, or any other Bluetooth accessory. (BUT if your Apple Watch is LTE enabled make sure you turn on Airplane Mode on the Watch! 😖)

    Great video! Have always wondered how to do the ships wifi while on airplane mode! This will be a big help! Have always just totally shut off phone in the past, and left it off the entire cruise, but that locked me into just being able to use my camera for photos and videos (which isn't always convenient). Our tablet is also through our Verizon plan. Do you know how that will work on the ship?

    • @LaLidoLoca
      @LaLidoLoca  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The WIFI on your table will work with the ship's WIFI, but if it has has a cellular modem in it (it connect to the internet without wifi), then make sure you put that in airplane mode also. Maybe contact Verizon to make sure or see if they have a plan for the Carribean. Thanks for the question and the feedback. - Tony

      You have to have a WIFI plan to use any apps that would connect home and that app would have to be allowed as part of the plan.
